Chapter 142 Fiancée

Chapter 142 Fiancée

Hearing this, Daisy nodded, "Yes, she's back."

Brenda gestured for Daisy to come closer.

Daisy obediently walked over to her side. Brenda took her hand in her palm and patted it twice, saying, "What do you think? Felix seems like a decent person, and he's patient with Luna too."

From Felix's behavior that afternoon, Brenda guessed he must know about Daisy's situation.

It wasn't about what she thought—it was just how society was. People always had extra opinions about divorced women.

Knowing that Daisy was divorced and still treating her this way, in the old woman's eyes, Felix was a good man!

Hearing this, Daisy couldn't help but think of the surprise Felix had arranged today. Her heart fluttered a bit as she said softly, "We're still just friends right now. I'll see how things go, and if it works out, I'll tell you about it, Brenda!"

After all, having gone through such a failed marriage, it would be a lie to say she wasn't scared.

But she wouldn't let one marriage kill her desire for love. If she and Felix were truly compatible, she was willing to see where things could go with him!

After all, from every angle, Felix wasn't a bad person!

Brenda knew Daisy's personality. She always had her own mind about everything. Besides, having gone through such a failed marriage, it was natural for her to be cautious about relationships. So Brenda didn't plan to pressure her, just nodded.

"Alright, you've always been decisive. Think this through yourself."

"Okay."

After chatting with Brenda for a bit longer, Daisy let her go rest. She went into the room to check on Luna—the child was still sleeping. She didn't stay inside, quietly stepping out. Looking at the time and thinking Felix should be home by now, she called him.

But what she didn't expect was that a woman answered the phone.

"Hello, Felix is taking a shower. May I ask who's calling?"

A woman's clear voice came through. Daisy froze, clearly not expecting this situation. For a moment, she didn't know how to respond.

Why would a woman answer?

And saying Felix was in the shower?

Could it be...?

A guess formed in Daisy's mind. Before she could speak, the woman on the other end continued.

"You must be Ms. Hart. I'm Felix's fiancée. We're getting married. This isn't just an arranged marriage between our families—Felix has agreed to it himself. Since we're not married yet, I can tolerate him having a lover on the side, but Ms. Hart, don't push it too far!"

The woman's slightly threatening words came through the phone line.

Those cold words were like a bucket of ice water poured over Daisy's head, instantly extinguishing the flutter she had just felt!

Daisy took a deep breath and replied with a light laugh, "You're overthinking it. Felix and I are just friends."

With that, Daisy hung up. She didn't want to explain further. She and Felix really were just friends right now.

If Felix already had a fiancée, she naturally wouldn't get entangled with him.

Her marriage with Vincent had already exhausted her enough. She didn't want to force things anymore, and she definitely didn't want to become another Vanessa.

This was actually fine—nothing had started yet. Better to cut losses early.

Daisy certainly wasn't going to ask Felix what today was all about. She still had some dignity.

Little did she know, the woman on the other end of the phone immediately deleted the call record after hanging up, then quietly put the phone back where it was. Even when Felix came out of the bathroom, he didn't notice anything wrong.

Not long after ending the call, Daisy received a message from Felix saying he was home and had been busy with something, so he hadn't messaged her right away.

Looking at the text, Daisy couldn't describe how she felt. Though uncomfortable, she didn't say much, responding as calmly as before. She didn't chat further.

Felix didn't know what had just happened, and since Daisy had always been like this, he didn't think much of it. After telling Daisy to rest early, they stopped chatting.

Since it was so late, Daisy didn't go back to her apartment and stayed at Brenda's place. Surprisingly, Vincent hadn't called once from start to finish, as if Luna staying with her was completely unimportant. This made Daisy even more dissatisfied with Vincent and Vanessa.

It seemed this was how they usually took care of the child. How outrageous!

Vincent didn't know what Daisy was thinking. After the meeting ended today, he discovered the child was gone. Vanessa told him she had gone to Daisy's.

Thinking of Daisy, he remembered what she'd said when they met that morning—she'd said she had no time, but then turned around and took the child without telling him.

Clearly, she was saying one thing to his face and doing another!

At this thought, Vincent couldn't quite describe what he felt inside. He just nodded coolly in acknowledgment.

He was busy these days anyway, so let her spend more time with the child.

Seeing Vincent didn't object, Vanessa felt slightly relieved and continued, "Vince, we haven't had time alone together in so long. I recently saw a pretty famous restaurant. Want to check it out tonight?"

"Okay."

Vincent couldn't find words to refuse, so he nodded in agreement.

...

The next day, Daisy and Luna spent the whole day with Brenda at her house. The old woman was very happy—after all, what elderly person doesn't enjoy having children and grandchildren around? Brenda was no exception.

By evening, Vincent still hadn't called to pick up Luna. Daisy was thinking about calling Vincent to come get Luna.

Seeing Daisy seemed hesitant about something, Luna, being sensitive, asked first, "Mommy, can I keep staying here for the next few days?"

Daisy was startled, clearly not expecting Luna to ask such a question.

She looked at Luna and said softly, "Why do you want to stay here?"

"Because I haven't seen Brenda in so long, and I still want to play here."

Luna naturally wouldn't say it was because she could be with Daisy here.

Hearing Luna's words, Brenda's heart softened. She looked at Daisy, "Daisy, let Luna stay and play for a few more days. Otherwise, this old lady gets a bit lonely."

With both Brenda and Luna saying this, Daisy could only swallow the refusal she'd been about to make and nodded gently, "Alright, I'll let your father know."

Hearing Daisy agree, Luna got all excited, "Yay!"

Daisy was just about to step aside to make the call when Vincent's text came in first...
