Chapter 140 Gift
Felix was a bit confused when he heard this, but still nodded, "Yes, why do you ask?"
Daisy shook her head at Felix's words, feeling a wave of displeasure, "Vincent and Vanessa aren't here either?"
"They're in a meeting."
Felix answered honestly.
Daisy frowned at this, feeling even more dissatisfied.
This Vanessa was really too careless!
She had nothing to say about them bringing the child to the office, but to just leave her with an assistant like this, and let her come find her with a stranger without even asking - that was too much.
Fortunately, Felix wasn't a bad person.
Otherwise, if something had really happened, that would have been a huge problem.
Felix didn't know what Daisy was thinking. He just saw that she didn't look very happy and was a bit worried, "What's wrong? Is there a problem?"
Felix's voice brought Daisy back to her senses. She met his concerned eyes and shook her head gently, "It's nothing, let's go up."
Daisy turned around and only then realized that Brenda and Luna were still at the door staring at her - or more precisely, staring at her and Felix.
Realizing this, Daisy's expression changed instantly, a wave of embarrassment rising in her heart, "Brenda, why haven't you two gone up yet?"
"Well, we saw you two were talking and didn't want to interrupt."
Brenda was experienced after all. Watching the interaction between them, plus the way Felix looked at Daisy, she understood what was going on and couldn't help teasing them.
Luna also spoke up at this moment, "Mommy, are you and Felix not done talking yet?"
These two comments, one from an adult and one from a child, made Daisy even more embarrassed.
Felix looked at Daisy's embarrassed, head-lowered appearance and found it adorable, couldn't help but chuckle.
"Let's go, Daisy."
Daisy heard Felix's slightly teasing words and glared at him a bit annoyed, then walked toward the house.
Felix followed behind carrying the gifts.
Simon, who was preparing dinner inside, was wondering why they were taking so long and had just come out of the kitchen when he saw Brenda walking in holding Luna's hand.
"Luna."
Simon had just finished greeting Luna when he saw Daisy come in. But when he saw Felix following behind Daisy carrying bags of gifts, he was completely stunned.
"Daisy, this is...?"
Daisy saw Simon's surprised look, sighed lightly, and introduced Felix to Simon, "Simon, this is Felix, my friend. He's the one who just brought Luna over."
Of course Simon knew this was Felix, the future heir of the Connor family.
What Simon didn't expect was why Felix would be here with Daisy, carrying all these gifts. What was he trying to do?
Felix saw Simon's dazed look, smiled slightly, put the gifts on the table, then stepped forward to greet Simon, "Uncle Simon, hello, I'm Felix."
Felix's familiar way of addressing him startled Simon. He raised his eyebrows slightly and looked at Daisy, as if asking her what was going on.
Daisy hadn't expected Felix to be so familiar either. It was one thing to cheekily call Brenda that downstairs, but now he was even calling him Uncle Simon.
Daisy shrugged helplessly, "He's just being polite."
Looking at Daisy like this, then at Felix, Simon understood completely - this Connor family kid was pursuing his niece!
Simon also nodded and greeted Felix, "Hello, I'm Simon, Daisy's uncle."
"Are you cooking, Simon? Do you need any help?"
Hearing Daisy's explanation, Felix was in a great mood. Seeing Simon dressed like a chef, he couldn't help but offer.
Simon quickly shook his head, "No, no need. It's your first time here, let Daisy show you around. I'll be done soon."
It wouldn't be right to have a guest go into the kitchen on their first visit.
So Simon refused without hesitation.
Daisy also had no intention of letting Felix go into the kitchen. Hearing Simon's words, she nodded, "Don't go in. Simon can handle it himself. If you go in, he'll just feel uncomfortable."
Felix nodded and didn't insist.
He came here today mainly to make his presence known to Daisy and Brenda. If he really went into the kitchen, he wouldn't have that chance.
Brenda, who was watching Luna play with blocks nearby, spoke up at the right time, "Daisy, make some tea for your friend. Your uncle can manage on his own."
"Okay."
Daisy sat down with Felix at the tea table and skillfully picked up tea leaves to make tea. The fragrance of tea filled the air.
Since Brenda was home, Daisy didn't say much. The two of them chatted casually about this and that.
After a moment, Felix put down his teacup and walked over to Luna's side, playing with blocks with her.
It had to be said, Felix was really good with children.
In just a few minutes, Luna, who had been a bit reserved at first, was playing happily with Felix.
Seeing this, Daisy also walked over and sat down beside them.
After playing for a while, Luna suddenly seemed to remember something. She grabbed her cartoon crossbody bag from the side and started rummaging through it.
Soon, she pulled out a paper flower basket that was somewhat crudely made.
"Mommy, look! I made this in craft class at school. The teacher even said it looked good!"
Luna held up the paper flower basket to show Daisy, full of anticipation and excitement.
Daisy took the paper flower basket and praised her generously, "Our Luna is so amazing! This little flower basket is beautiful."
Getting Daisy's praise, Luna was overjoyed and immediately pushed the paper flower basket into Daisy's hands, "Then I'm giving this to Mommy!"
Daisy's heart softened. She was about to speak when she saw Luna looking at her expectantly, "Does Mommy have a little gift for Luna?"
At these words, a wave of guilt suddenly rose in Daisy's heart.
During this time, she had been busy dealing with various matters and had neglected Luna's company. She rarely spent time with her, let alone prepared gifts for her. Seeing Luna's expectant look, she felt even more guilty.
Suddenly, she remembered something. She gently touched Luna's head and said softly, "Luna, I'll go to my room and get you a special gift. Wait here for Mommy, okay?"
Luna nodded and watched Daisy get up and quickly walk toward the bedroom.
Daisy pushed open the bedroom door, walked to the dresser, opened the bottom drawer, and took out a necklace made of white shells.
The shells were smooth and round, polished very delicately.
This was a gift her mother had given her when she was little. All these years, she had carefully treasured it.
Daisy held the necklace, thinking of her mother's gentleness, then thinking of what she owed Luna. Without any hesitation, she took the necklace and walked back to the living room.
She crouched down and held the shell necklace out to Luna, saying softly, "This is a necklace my mother gave me when I was little. Do you like it?"
