Chapter 135 Felixs Appointment

Chapter 135 Felixs Appointment

Until the investment presentation was almost over, Daisy was surrounded by other business partners asking questions, and Vincent had no chance to approach her.

Near the end, Vincent finally saw Daisy alone. Without overthinking it, he walked up to her.

"Your presentation today was excellent."

The magnetic, pleasant voice caught Daisy's attention. She turned to find it was Vincent.

Daisy instinctively glanced beside Vincent but didn't see Vanessa.

She felt puzzled but didn't ask further.

Her relationship with Vincent wasn't close enough for that kind of question.

So Daisy just nodded coolly. "Thanks for the compliment, Mr. Black. I was just doing my job."

Vincent caught the distance in Daisy's words. His eyes flickered slightly, feeling somewhat displeased, but he didn't show it. He simply nodded.

"Reed Corporation is lucky to have you. Good for Ethan."

Maybe it was just her imagination, but Daisy thought she detected a hint of sarcasm in Vincent's words.

However, Daisy didn't have the energy to guess what Vincent was thinking. She smiled lightly, going along with his comment.

"I suppose so. You're too kind, Mr. Black."

"Vince, there you are! I've been looking everywhere for you."

Suddenly, a crisp voice broke the atmosphere between them.

Both paused and looked toward the source of the voice. It was Vanessa.

Under Daisy's gaze, Vanessa ran straight to Vincent. After stopping beside him, she reached out and hooked her arm through his, looking completely intimate.

Seeing Vanessa staring at her with a guarded expression, Daisy felt a touch of mockery. Without saying more to Vincent, she turned and left.

Watching Daisy leave right after she arrived, Vanessa immediately interpreted it as guilt. She deliberately raised her voice to make sure Daisy could hear her conversation with Vincent.

"Vince, what were you and Ms. Hart talking about just now?"

Vincent's gaze lingered on Daisy's retreating figure. Hearing Vanessa's question, he paused, his expression calm. "Nothing, just making small talk."

Vanessa didn't believe it. In her mind, Daisy must have approached Vincent because she couldn't let go.

Her dislike for Daisy grew stronger, though she didn't show it. She just said, "I see. Well, the event's pretty much over. Should we leave? Luna's still at home!"

Vanessa appeared completely considerate.

Vincent nodded lightly. "Alright."

After the two left the presentation, others were arranged to handle the wrap-up. Daisy also said goodbye to Ethan and left.

Felix had originally stayed to give Daisy a ride, but he suddenly received a phone call about something urgent and had to leave first.

This investment presentation added some new color to the industry's future.

Of course, Daisy later told Ethan about the speech incident.

Ethan was shocked when he learned about it. He hadn't expected it to be an inside job, and by Noah of all people.

"What was his purpose in doing this?"

"He listened to some gossip and wanted to see me embarrassed, I guess."

Daisy didn't say much more. In her view, Noah's reasons were all made up, and she wasn't going to feel too hurt about it.

Ethan frowned deeply and looked at Daisy. "So now, what are you planning to do?"

Noah was part of her team, but he had done this behind her back. As the boss, he couldn't tolerate it either.

If he could do this at such an important event, what about later?

What other backstabbing might happen?

"For now, I won't let him participate in any important matters."

Daisy couldn't quite describe her current mood. Noah had wanted to resign before, but she hadn't agreed. Now this had happened. Anyone would feel uncomfortable.

After a moment of silence, Ethan nodded. "Do what you think is best. But if there's a next time, I won't be able to let it slide."

He respected Daisy, but this was his company first and foremost.

If people below found out about this, they might inevitably question Daisy's judgment. So he had his own considerations about certain things.

Daisy understood what Ethan meant, and precisely because she understood, she had told him about it today.

Rather than waiting for Ethan to investigate and find out.

Though the result would be the same, the meaning was different.

"Okay, I understand."

Ethan seemed to remember something and looked at Daisy. "By the way, the company has a dinner this Friday. If you're free, come along."

Daisy paused but didn't refuse. She nodded in agreement. "Okay."

On Friday, near the end of the workday, an unexpected visitor came to Daisy's lab.

"Daisy."

Daisy paused at the sound and looked toward the voice. She was surprised to see it was Felix. "Felix? What are you doing here?"

Felix's arrival made some of the lab staff stop their work and look at him curiously.

People are naturally curious, and they were no exception, especially since this person was here to see their team leader!

Felix seemed oblivious to their stares, his eyes focused intently on Daisy. "Today's Friday."

Daisy was confused by Felix's random statement. "Huh? Friday, so what?"

Seeing Daisy's puzzled expression, Felix's lips curved up. He cleared his throat lightly. "There's a new movie at the theater. I saw the reviews are pretty good. Want to go see it together later?"

Felix didn't lower his voice deliberately, so everyone in the lab heard his invitation. Some even started teasing them.

"Ooh..."

Hearing the teasing, Daisy's face immediately turned red. Realizing where they were, she quickly asked Felix to step outside with her.

"Let's talk outside."

Felix noticed Daisy's embarrassment. His lips curved up, and after scanning the room with a raised eyebrow, he followed Daisy out.

"I have a dinner tonight, so I probably can't go."

After escaping the stares from inside the lab, Daisy looked at Felix and said slowly.

Seeing that Daisy didn't seem to be lying, Felix frowned slightly. "What dinner? Is it important?"

"A company dinner."

Daisy didn't hide it and told him honestly.

Felix paused but didn't say anything. He just took out his phone and made a call.

He didn't avoid Daisy but made the call right in front of her. "Mr. Reed."

Hearing Felix's words, Daisy's eyebrows twitched. This guy!

Then Daisy watched as Felix called Ethan right in front of her and canceled tonight's dinner.

After the call ended, Felix looked at Daisy, his lips curved slightly, his tone leisurely. "Now there's no dinner. Can we go to the movie?"
