Chapter 103 I Will Be Their Guardian

Chapter 103 I Will Be Their Guardian

Daisy was mildly surprised to discover that Shawn actually knew Felix, and that the two appeared remarkably close.

And for Shawn to be this anxious, the matter likely involved Marcus.

Which could only mean that Felix also knew the Bennetts?

It seemed the top-tier wealthy families all knew each other.

While Daisy's mind was wandering, Felix slowly pulled something small from his pocket and handed it to Shawn.

"He's doing fine now. He asked me to give you this."

It was a ring.

A very plain silver-white ring, without any diamonds or patterns, just a simple band. Daisy couldn't tell what was special about this ring, but the moment Shawn saw it, tears came flooding out.

She clutched the ring tightly in both hands, her shoulders shaking as she cried.

Daisy sighed and gently put an arm around her shoulders.

"Shawn, don't cry. He's okay, that's what matters."

Shawn shook her head, gripping the ring in her palm, holding it tight, as if afraid it might run away.

"How is he doing now? Did he leave any other message for me?"

"He's back with the Bennetts now, he's safe. He said once he settles matters with the family, he’ll return to find you."

Shawn bit her lip hard and nodded.

Daisy patted her back, then suddenly remembered something and couldn't help asking, "What about that USB drive? Did you find it?"

Felix paused. "What USB drive?"

Daisy opened her mouth, suddenly realizing she'd said too much.

The fewer people who knew about that USB drive, the better.

She quickly shook her head. "Nothing. I was just asking."

Felix did not press the matter further. Shawn had cried enough; she wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

She looked down at the ring in her palm, then resolutely put it on her ring finger. The ring was not large, yet it fit her perfectly, as though it had been crafted solely for her.

Daisy looked at the ring, feeling a bit emotional.

At first, Shawn hadn't been that into that guy with the last name Fu. At most, she just thought he was good-looking and wanted to see if she could make a move.

Who would have imagined that after spending time together, both would develop genuine feelings?

Although Daisy truly held no favorable impression of Marcus, she still hoped Shawn would obtain what she desired and ultimately be with the person she loved.

The next day was the school's parent-child sports day.

Daisy woke up early. It was just past seven when she got up. After washing up, she didn't put on makeup, just applied some sunscreen, changed into athletic wear, and tied her hair into a high ponytail.

When she glanced in the mirror, she looked refreshingly energetic.

When she came downstairs, Sophie and Nick were already sitting at the dining table.

Sophie had also changed into athletic wear, with two little braids, wearing white sneakers. She looked like a pink cotton candy.

Nick wore a blue T-shirt and black athletic pants, sitting quietly in his chair, drinking milk.

"Aunt Daisy, are you busy today?" Sophie asked, tilting her head upward.

Daisy sat down next to her and poured herself a glass of milk.

"I'm accompanying Luna to the sports day."

Only the words left her mouth. Did she remember that Sophie and Luna attended the same school? If she were going with Luna, what would become of Sophie?

Especially since Shawn had spent the night alternating between tears and restless sleep and was now catching up on much-needed rest.

Sure enough, as soon as she finished speaking, Sophie's little face fell.

"Aunt Daisy, can you take me with you?"

Take her? Luna wouldundoubtedly throw a tantrum, and Sophie would be the one left hurt in the end. Daisy gently stroked her head.

Daisy touched her head. "I’m sorry, sweetie. The sports day is strictly for children and their own parents. You are my precious baby, but Luna is also my baby. Today I must stay with her. How about asking the housekeeper to accompany you instead?"

Sophie pouted and stopped talking.

Nick sat beside her, head down, quietly drinking his milk.

He didn't say anything, but Daisy saw his eyelashes flutter, as if he was also a bit disappointed.

Daisy sighed, about to say something when the doorbell rang. She went to open it. Felix stood at the door in white athletic wear, holding a bag, smiling.

"Morning, have you had breakfast?"

Daisy was taken aback. "Why are you here?"

Felix raised the bag in his hand. "I'm here on someone's behalf, of course."

Daisy glanced at him, then at the bag in his hand. "You sure have a lot of free time."

Felix laughed. "It's the weekend, I have to make time even if I don't have it."

He walked in. "You're eating? Is there some for me?"

He settled into a seat as if it were his own. A servant promptly prepared oatmeal and served him toast with fried eggs.

Felix showed no hesitation; he strolled into the kitchen and retrieved a jar of strawberry jam.

From how familiar he was with the place, it seemed he came often.

Daisy could not suppress her curiosity. “Are you and Shawn particularly close?"

"Somewhat. Mainly because my parents are close with her family. I came here a few times as a child, but stopped after I started school." Felix said while eating heartily.

"No wonder." Daisy said.

Felix continued eating while observing the two children at the table. With a gentle smile, he asked, "What's the matter? You were both so cheerful yesterday. Why the long faces this morning? Didn’t sleep well?"

Neither child said anything.

Daisy smiled and said, "Today is the school sports day. I have to attend with my daughter, and these two little ones, one has no parent available, and the other is still undecided."

"That's hardly a problem.” Felix clapped his hands and nodded toward Sophie. “Stop looking so glum. Today I'll be your parent." Then he smiled at Nick. "I'll take you as well."

The two children instantly brightened and cheered.

They ran to Felix's side and each kissed him on the cheek. He hugged both children, looking at Daisy with a smile full of pride.

But Daisy was a bit worried.

"Can you truly manage two children on your own?"

"What's so difficult about it? They’re old enough not to get lost."

That was true.

Felix seemed to possess a natural charm that drew children to him. Despite having met only the day before, the two youngsters had already grown remarkably attached. Daisy's worries eased.

Daisy hitched a ride in Felix's car and rushed to school with the two kids. After giving some instructions, she hurried off to find Luna's class.

By now, the playground was packed with people.

Parents and children were everywhere, a chaotic scene. She looked around for a while and spotted Luna right away. She was standing in her class's line, wearing red athletic wear, her hair tied in two little buns, standing on tiptoe looking around.

"Luna!"

Daisy called out and walked toward her.

Luna saw her and her eyes lit up immediately. She ran out of the line and threw herself into Daisy's arms.

"Mommy! You're finally here! I've been waiting for you forever!"

Daisy crouched down and gently adjusted her daughter’s clothes. “I’m not too late, am I?"

Luna hugged her tightly, nuzzling into her arms, looking up with her little face, acting cute. "Mommy, you look so cool today! Totally different from usual."

Daisy tapped her little nose. "You certainly know how to flatter someone."

Luna took Daisy's hand and was about to walk back to the class line when she suddenly stopped, her eyes lighting up, jumping with joy.

"Daddy! Mommy, it's Daddy! Daddy came too!"

Daisy turned around and saw Vincent standing not far away.

He was also wearing athletic clothes, with a cap pulled low over his head, slightly lowered, hands in his pockets. Standing there, he looked like a male model about to walk the runway.

Daisy really hadn't expected Vincent to come.

After all, he had never attended any of Luna’s sports days since she was small. Had she known he would come, she would have gone with Sophie and Nick instead. Why bother Felix?
