Chapter 10 I Don’t Want You to Be My Mom Anymore!
The ambulance arrived quickly, its sharp siren wailing outside the restaurant.
Without waiting for the paramedics to come in, Vincent had already scooped up Vanessa and rushed out.
Sienna grabbed her son with one hand and pulled the bewildered Luna with the other, following closely behind while muttering non-stop, "Nessa, hang in there! The ambulance is here!"
Daisy stood frozen in place, her hands and feet ice-cold, watching this sudden chaos unfold before her.
She had only lightly blocked just now, she hadn't pushed her at all! How could Vanessa... and all that blood... and what she just said, "Save our child?"
Could it be that Vanessa and Vincent had already... they even had a child together?
Vanessa was bleeding heavily. When Vincent carried her out, blood ran down her thighs, dripping onto the floor in large drops.
Luna was only a few years old, how could she have seen such a scene? She burst into tears, frightened.
Seeing Daisy following behind in a daze, Luna turned back and hit her in anger. "You're so mean! It's all your fault! I want Auntie Vanessa, I don't want a mom like you anymore! Get out!"
Vincent frowned and snapped back. "Luna, don't use bad words."
Daisy's heart was already wounded and bleeding. Vincent's words landed lightly on her wound.
He wasn't scolding Luna for not acknowledging her as her mother, he was scolding her for using improper language.
Despite having a thousand words to say, Daisy could only choke them down in her throat, unable to utter a single word.
After getting Vanessa onto the ambulance, Vincent seemed to remember something and forcibly pulled Daisy onto the vehicle as well.
Though his expression was icy enough to drip water, his eyes showing undisguised anger and disappointment, he still suppressed his rage and said coldly, "Given the situation, I have nothing more to say. I'll have my secretary send you the divorce papers. Sign them and give them back to me. The terms will be satisfactory to you."
Sienna looked at Daisy provocatively, wanting to see panic on her face, how could she not panic? She probably never thought that by casually mentioning divorce over such a small matter, it would actually happen, right?
But to Sienna's surprise, Daisy was remarkably calm.
She said flatly, "I understand. I'll sign them."
What is this woman plotting? Sienna couldn't help wondering.
Does she really think the Black family elders will stand for this? Once the old man hears about her recent behavior, she's out!
With this thought, Sienna felt smug again.
By now, Vanessa finally managed to gather some strength from the pain. She clutched Vincent's sleeve and said softly, "Vince, don't do this because of me, and don't blame Daisy. She didn't know about my condition, that's why she pushed me."
Daisy looked at her coldly. "Do you really think I pushed you? You know perfectly well I only blocked the teacup you handed me!"
Though she had long wanted to end this marriage, she didn't want to be wrongly blamed for something this serious.
"Enough!" Vincent couldn't stand hearing Daisy remain so unrepentant. He scolded, "In front of everyone, you're still making excuses?! Nessa is in this condition and you still want to argue?! Apologize to her right now!"
"I did nothing wrong, why should I apologize?" Daisy stood her ground, saying coldly, "The restaurant has surveillance cameras. Pull the footage and you'll see what really happened!"
Vanessa's eyelashes suddenly trembled rapidly.
"Check the surveillance?" Sienna's voice was sharp, "Daisy, do you have no shame? Who knows if the cameras even covered that corner? Besides, Nessa is bleeding, the baby might be gone, and you're still coldly trying to clear your name?!"
"Sienna, stop talking." Vanessa said weakly, "Maybe... maybe my footing wasn't steady. Daisy didn't mean it, it was just an accident..."
As she spoke, her eyes reddened and tears slid down her pale cheeks, looking like someone who had suffered a great injustice but was still making excuses for others, which only aroused Luna's sympathy more.
Luna thoughtfully used her small handkerchief to wipe the cold sweat from Vanessa's forehead, then glared at Daisy with hateful eyes.
Vincent added, "Daisy, I'm saying this for the last time, apologize! If Nessa and the baby are okay, I can go easy on you. But if they're not... just wait!"
"Go easy on me?" Daisy laughed coldly. "Vincent, is that how low you think of me? What right do you have to 'go easy' on me? I'll say it again, I didn't push her! I will never apologize for something I didn't do!"
Her gaze was sharp as a knife, piercing straight toward Vanessa.
Vanessa shrank back and began sobbing quietly. "Vince, forget it, please don't fight because of me, or I'll never be able to make up for my sins! I... I'm fine... this baby was never meant to be anyway..."
"Nessa, stop talking, save your strength!" Sienna said urgently, then glared fiercely at Daisy. "Daisy, did you hear that? Nessa is in this condition and still thinking of you! If you don't apologize now, you're not even human!"
"Fine, you all insist on saying this?" Daisy laughed in anger. "I'll call the police right now and check the surveillance in front of them. Vanessa, if the footage proves what really happened, what will you say then?"
Sienna completely lost it and shouted, "What more do you want Nessa to explain to you? She hasn't blamed you at all from start to finish, she's in so much pain and still making excuses for you! When will you finally grow up and stop throwing tantrums like a child?"
Seeing Daisy actually take out her phone to call the police, Sienna snatched it away, "You want to embarrass yourself in front of the police too? Can you think before you act? What about the Black family's reputation? Do you want us all to end up on entertainment news headlines with you?"
The barrage of accusations left Daisy breathless.
Sienna was so aggressive, and Vincent didn't even glance at her anymore, only holding Vanessa's hand with worried eyes.
At that moment, they arrived at the hospital.
Vanessa lay on the bed and was wheeled into the emergency room.
The lights were harsh white, and the air smelled of disinfectant.
Vincent paced irritably. Sienna kept cursing Daisy non-stop, while Luna leaned against Vincent's leg, pouting, saying quietly, "Daddy, Mommy is bad. She always bullies Auntie Vanessa. I don't want her anymore."
Hearing this again, Daisy showed no expression, though her heart still ached densely.
Vincent just patted his daughter's head without speaking, his face still looking terrible.
After what seemed like forever, the emergency room door opened and the doctor came out.
"Doctor, how is she? The baby... is it safe?" Vincent immediately stepped forward, his tone urgent.
The doctor removed his mask, his expression somewhat complicated. "The patient is awake and not in life-threatening danger."
"However... she's not pregnant."
"What?" Vincent froze.
