Their words against mine

Their words against mine
(Bella)

I turn to meet her fiery eyes, burning with a barely contained disdain. "Ashley, I'm sure you know it's not cool to stalk people?" I retort, a tiny smile on my face.

"Oh shut up!" She spat, inching closer, her face switching to a smirk. She looks around the store, and then back to me. "You made a terrible mistake coming back here, Bella. A mistake you'll pay dearly for," she threatens, her eyes locked onto mine.

I know exactly what to say and how to react. Since I have my recorder on, I need to push her a little, just enough to make her spill her trash.

I all but snorted. "A mistake, really?" I spat. "How so? As far as I can work out, you're the one trying so hard to hide your dirty little secret, not me." I give her a look and then a smirk forms on my face.

I watch her face twitch and a frown resurfaces. "Don't get too cocky," she blurted out, her eyes cold as always. "You sound so self-righteous but we both know that a retired whore like yourself is far from perfect," she threw the words at me, hoping to rile me up but it doesn't.

My smile widens, and I narrow my eyes on her. "I'm not the one whoring myself now, am I?"

Her fist clenches at both side, her jaw set in a way that tells me I've struck a nerve. But then she doesn't act on it, she all but spat, her face twisting into the monster she is. "Whatever, he's with me right now, nothing's ever going to change that," she asserts and then lowers her voice, a dark smirk twisting her lips. "And you know what? He fucks me real good," she winks.

I cringed, stopping myself a second away from bursting into a hysteric laughter. "If that's true, then you both knock yourself out. I don't care who he's with, just stop stalking me,"

She laughs sardonically. "You can't fool me. I know you still love him." She gives me quite the look, and crossed her arms around her chest. "Well, I'm here to remind you that you can never have him, not even with those little bastards as excuse,"

My blood boiled in an instant, my inner lioness was ready to attack but I forced my claws back at the very last second, reminding myself that I shouldn't loose it and give Ashley the upper hand.

So instead of getting mad like she wanted me to, a dry chuckle escapes me, one that stretches into a smirk. "You feel threatened, don't you?" I say, watching her every reaction and I need not to be told, I was right. "Me having his kids is your biggest threat?" My mouth twisted into a wow.

Honestly, talking to Ashley gives me a headache.

"It doesn't change anything, he loves me," she blurted out, giving me a hard glare.

"Really?" A voice replied her from behind us, and quickly Derrick steps in front of her, moving towards my direction and standing beside me. "Of, course you'd tell your delusional self that, but we both know that you wouldn't have to try this hard if he did, leave my sister the hell alone," he seethes at her.

Derrick turns to me, looking me up and down. "Are you okay?" He asks, throwing a hard look at Ashley.

Ashley snorted before I could reply. "She won't be soon, I promise." She has a taunting smirk that sends chills down my spine.

But I don't show how her words made me feel, I smiled at Derrick and then shifted my gaze back to her. "I'm perfectly fine, Rick. Just trying to keep a dog tethered," a faint smirk appears on my face.

The look on Ashley's face when I said that was fucking priceless.

Derrick struggled to stifle a laughter but it fails, it slips out, just briefly.

But unlike him, Ashley didn't find that funny.

Her lips peeled back in a snarl. "You'll regret this, that's a promise, both of you!" She barks.

Derrick turns to me, offering a hand. "We should go, this irritable dog is damn well getting on my last nerves," he toss her a bored look, which only irked Ashley the more.

Ashley's mouth opens, and I was sure the long line of curses was about to fall out any second and yes, she didn't disappoint me.

But then, we were done engaging her.

"Say all you want, I'm going to bite you real hard, Bella. You won't escape this one, that's a fucking promise bitch," she growled. "You and your stupid brats will burn in the hottest pit of hell, and I'll be there to watch, mark my words."

I shrug. Taking Derrick's hand and choosing to ignore her comments of which I know why. We begin to walk away.

I might have heard a curse or two thrown behind our backs but we ignored it, walking towards Derrick's car.

I couldn't stop my grin from spreading as I pull my phone out, I tap on the screen and carefully saved the recording.

Derricks eyes widens. "Don't tell me that's what I think it is?" A smile appears.

I smirk. "Well, it doesn't hurt to be prepared, does it?" I wink at him.

Honestly, the thing is. I don't know if there's any need for this right now, personally I don't think so.

But somehow, I know not to trust these people, especially the ones that'd go to any length to destroy me.

Plus, there's a deep voice in my head that keeps telling me that a time will come when it'll be their words against mine.
