Chapter 215 The Result of Indulgence After Being Stimulated
Everyone breathed a sigh of relief after Cordelia and Janet made peace.
After all, losing either Cordelia or Janet would be a loss given Molly's current condition.
But if they had to choose between Janet and Cordelia, the hospital would definitely pick Cordelia first.
Sunrise Valley Hospital, which backed Cordelia, had a relief system, and Molly's situation completely met their requirements for assistance.
Cordelia had just discussed this with Deborah the day before, and unexpectedly Janet showed up today.
After checking on Molly's condition, Deborah led Cordelia and the other doctors out of Molly's ward to discuss things in a temporary meeting room.
While Cordelia was in the restroom, Janet came looking for her. She walked up to Cordelia and paused when she reached her pace, wearing a smile.
"Did Dr. Stone come to Ravenshollow on business because you knew Alaric was here?" she asked.
Cordelia looked up, glancing at Janet through the restroom mirror.
"No."
Janet laughed softly.
"Really?" she asked."I thought you came to Ravenshollow because of Alaric. I guess I was overthinking it."
Cordelia pulled a tissue from the box to dry her hands.
"I really didn't come because Alaric was in Ravenshollow, but Alaric probably came here because I'm in Ravenshollow." she maintained.
Janet's smile had been holding up until now, but when Cordelia said that, it instantly froze.
She took a deep breath, looking at Cordelia with a heavy gaze, her expression showing hints of displeasure.
"Dr. Stone, you're quite the joker. How could Alaric possibly come to Ravenshollow because of you? Alaric's project in Ravenshollow is about to launch. He came here for business."
Cordelia casually tossed the tissue into the trash and replied lightly, "Is that so?"
Janet was irritated by Cordelia's question. Immediately, her face darkened.
"Dr. Stone, you're too confident. I think I need to remind you that you already have a child, and with Alaric's current status and position, he would never marry a woman with a child."
"Don't be deceived. Alaric might be taking care of you now, but does he truly love you? He's just feeling guilty."
"He thinks you got accidentally pregnant and had a child because you were stimulated after divorcing him and acted recklessly. He's always been sentimental about the past."
Cordelia looked at Janet, not stirred the least by her words.
"Indeed, quite sentimental." she replied sarcastically.
Seeing Cordelia's expression, Janet felt like Cordelia was mocking her, and she suddenly felt like her weak spot had been exposed.
"Cordelia, I'm different from you. Alaric and I were forced to separate back then, so our only issue is regret. You used your family background to take advantage of his situation and force him to marry you. Your divorce was inevitable, and besides—"
Cordelia didn't wait for Janet to finish and interrupted directly.
"Alaric isn't here. It's useless for you to tell me how helpless and regretful your separation was."
"Ms. Martin, I hope next time we meet, we won't make men the center of our conversation. The more obsessed people are with things they can't have, the more they expose their flaws. I've seen enough of your panic and frustration. It has lost its novelty."
"You can talk to me about Molly's situation. I'd be happy to tell you about it."
Janet took a deep breath, feeling embarrassed by Cordelia's words. She instinctively lied.
"Actually, I'm supporting Molly because of Alaric too."
"Alaric said if I want to develop my career, I must do charity work. That way I can attract more attention."
"You're right, Alaric and I can't date like we used to, but over these years, Alaric has been helping me, whether in my career or personal matters. I'm also working hard to become a better version of myself, hoping that one day I can stand by his side."
Cordelia nodded lightly and replied with a smile.
"Then good luck with that."
She finished speaking and walked away.
Janet watched her departing figure. She bit her lip, feeling pressure build in her chest.
Deborah had a very serious attitude toward work, so Cordelia stayed by her side, researching materials and making diagnoses together. Before they knew it, the day was far spent and the sky outside had begin to darken.
After the two had dinner and returned to the hotel, it was already past ten at night.
Cordelia could still muster some energy, but Deborah's face was full of exhaustion.
After getting out of the car, Cordelia helped her into the hotel.
As soon as they reached the hotel lobby, they saw Janet walking out.
"Deborah, Dr. Stone."
Seeing Cordelia and Deborah, Janet greeted them first.
Deborah perked up a bit and asked politely, "Ms. Martin is staying here too?"
Janet shook her head and said softly.
"A friend is staying here, so I came to visit."
As she spoke, she gently tugged at her collar.
From Cordelia's angle, she saw a glimpse of the love bite on Janet's neck.
Her eyes widened slightly and Janet smiled, satisfied she got the message.
"I'll probably be able to move in tomorrow."
Deborah nodded slightly, "Moving here would be good. This hotel has a nice environment." she said.
Janet nodded, "Yes, I think this hotel's environment is quite nice."
"And with so many acquaintances here, we can all look after each other."
"Indeed." Deborah responded calmly.
Janet wanted to say more, but Cordelia spoke first.
"After Ms. Martin moves here, we can chat more? Ms. Martin still needs to return to the other hotel. Drive safely."
Janet nodded blankly.
"Then we'll head back to our rooms to rest." Deborah was also tired and didn't want to continue the conversation.
Cordelia helped Deborah into the elevator.
Janet stood in the lobby, watching the elevator doors close, a slight smile forming at the corners of her lips.
She walked out of the hotel and got into the car her assistant had rented. As soon as she got in, she took out a mirror to check her neck.
The assistant, who was driving, saw the red mark on her neck through the rearview mirror. "Janet, don't worry too much. Tomorrow I'll have the makeup artist cover it up properly."
"That mosquito really knew where to bite."
Janet's lips curved slightly.
"No need." she said sharply.
The assistant was confused and quickly said, "We're filming a promotional video for the Grand Vista Hotel tomorrow. If you show up with this red mark, people will inevitably let their imaginations run wild."
Janet smiled once again, speaking firmly.
"That's exactly the effect I want."
Alaric was also staying at this hotel. The relationship between her and Alaric had been mysterious online over the years. If she appeared with what looked like a love bite, it would give those internet users something to talk about.
Her attention had been declining lately, and she could use this to create some buzz.
After all, she hadn't done anything—it was the internet users who misunderstood. It had nothing to do with her.
