Chapter 203 Divorce Is Not the End but the Beginning
Cordelia slept until lunchtime. When she woke up, her physical exhaustion had eased.
The first thing she did was pick up her phone and check it.
Sure enough, Alaric had sent her a message.
She opened the chat and glanced at the time Alaric had sent his message—it was two hours ago.
Alaric: [What did you just send?]
Seeing this message, the corners of her lips curved up slightly, and a flash of satisfaction crossed her eyes.
[Nothing much.]
[Then what did you delete?] He replied almost instantly.
Cordelia sent over a "grinning" emoji, then put down her phone, threw off the covers, and got up to wash up.
Allegra's voice also came from outside the door.
"Cordelia, come downstairs for lunch."
"Okay, I'll be right down." Cordelia responded cheerfully.
After lunch, Cordelia changed Amber into an outing outfit and took her to the amusement park.
Since she rarely had time off, she naturally wanted to spend it with Amber.
Rainbow Wonderland.
Cordelia waited in line with Amber to ride the carousel.
Just as it was their turn, a staff member came forward and stopped Cordelia and Amber, his attitude rather forceful.
"You'll have to wait for the next round. We have a blogger here today filming promotional content for the amusement park, so we need to let that blogger go first."
It was the weekend, so the amusement park was already crowded.
They had been waiting in line for over half an hour, and just when it was finally their turn, someone wanted to cut in line. Naturally, Amber wasn't happy about it.
"No."
She anxiously expressed her dissatisfaction, her little face full of anger.
"Mommy, no."
She shook her head, showing her displeasure.
Cordelia's eyes darkened as she looked at the staff member.
"I refuse to wait for the next round."
The staff member's expression changed slightly, and his attitude improved a bit.
"Miss, please cooperate with our work."
Cordelia's expression was cold.
"Then please don't waste our time. Everyone here paid money to enter the amusement park and has been waiting in line properly according to the rules."
"You're bringing someone to cut in line now—where does that leave all of us who've been waiting properly?"
The staff member's expression stiffened a bit. Seeing that Cordelia wasn't easy to deal with, his tone changed accordingly.
"Miss, it's only five minutes of your time."
Cordelia smiled, her attitude also polite. "Do you know how many five-minute intervals we've already waited here?"
"Is everything settled?"
Janet's voice appeared in the crowd as other staff members brought her forward.
She had been touching up her makeup and discussing filming angles with her photographer.
She had planned to come straight over and get on the carousel, but unexpectedly, she ran into Cordelia here.
Cordelia was holding Amber and had clearly gotten into an argument with the staff.
When Cordelia saw Janet, her eyes turned cold.
What a coincidence—running into someone she didn't want to see.
"Dr. Stone."
After seeing Cordelia, Janet took the initiative to greet her.
"You brought your child to play today."
Seeing that Cordelia and Janet knew each other, the staff member quickly said.
"Since you know each other, could you please let Ms. Martin film her video first?"
Cordelia's eyes were calm as she replied evenly.
"We know each other, but we're not close."
"Ms. Martin, why don't you postpone the filming for a bit?"
The people in line behind Cordelia also spoke up at this moment.
"You can film anytime—why does it have to be on a weekend?"
"What? Influencers are your customers, but we're not?"
"Exactly, why should she get to cut in line?"
"If you want to film promotional content, you could easily choose a weekday. We rarely get weekends off to bring our kids out to play—why should you get to cut in line?"
Janet stood to the side, her face turning somewhat ashen.
"What's going on?" Julian's voice rang out from the crowd.
He was surrounded by a group of amusement park managers.
The Pierce family had been in the entertainment business for years.
Many entertainment venues in Shadowpine, from adult to children's attractions, were all under the Pierce family's control.
And this amusement park was also under the Pierce family's name.
Seeing Julian, Janet pressed her red lips together lightly and said with a smile.
"Julian, you're here."
Cordelia shifted her gaze away from Julian and looked at the staff member with a cold expression.
"Can you move aside now? Everyone's waiting."
The staff member paused, then looked at Julian, seemingly seeking his opinion.
Seeing that Cordelia's gaze hadn't lingered on him for even a second, Julian frowned slightly.
"Why are you blocking them? Hurry up and let Ms. Stone through."
Hearing this, the staff member quickly withdrew his hand and let Cordelia and Amber pass.
Amber had been waiting for so long, and seeing that they could finally go in, she clapped her hands happily.
After the two were seated, the carousel started operating.
Julian stood outside the railing, watching Cordelia and Amber.
Janet bit her teeth secretly, her gaze also falling on Cordelia and Amber.
"Ms. Stone is really fortunate."
"Even with such a burden, so many people still like her."
"Julian, why don't you try confessing your feelings to Ms. Stone? Who knows, maybe there's a chance?"
Julian glanced at Janet coldly.
He knew very well in his heart whether there was any possibility between him and Cordelia.
He did like Cordelia, but not to the point where he had to have her.
And Cordelia had no feelings for him—he was clear about that too.
"Do you think that if I win over Cordelia, Alaric will get back together with you?"
Janet had been smiling just a moment ago, but after hearing Julian's words, her expression suddenly froze.
"No matter what happens between Alaric and me, I'm braver than you. At least Alaric and I were together—I have no regrets."
"You and Ms. Stone..."
Julian's narrow eyes glanced at Janet coolly.
Janet paused and didn't continue.
Although Julian seemed easy to get along with, he was also the most unpredictable person.
Janet had spent some time with Julian over the years, so she had figured out his personality somewhat.
But she still couldn't understand why Julian would like Cordelia.
Before Alaric and Cordelia's divorce, Janet hadn't even noticed Julian's feelings for Cordelia.
She had even thought that the person Julian liked was her.
After years of observation, Janet realized just how wrong she had been.
Back when she and Alaric broke up, Julian had gone abroad to persuade her to come back.
Actually, he had heard rumors about a business marriage between the Stone family and the Hughes family. He didn't want Alaric and Cordelia to get married, so he went abroad to try to bring her back.
Because of this, everyone mistakenly thought Julian liked her.
"Julian, when did you start liking Ms. Stone?"
Janet was really curious.
She looked at Julian beside her with an inquiring expression, only to see Julian staring at Cordelia in a daze.
Janet couldn't help but clench her fists.
Julian had once been her second choice, and now both her first and second choices were attracted to Cordelia.
How could she not care?
She had thought that Alaric and Cordelia's divorce three years ago was the end, but now it seemed like it was only the beginning.
