Chapter 192 Couldn't Help but Swear

Chapter 192 Couldn't Help but Swear

The next morning, when Cordelia was getting ready for work, Dominic had just returned from outside.

The clothes he was wearing were no longer the ones he had on at the bar last night.

This morning, after sobering up, Dominic recalled how he had neglected Cordelia and felt very guilty.

If it weren't for him, she wouldn't have been called over by that phone call.

Cordelia's phone chimed with a notification. She looked down to check it.

A friend request.

She tapped on the profile picture to take a look. It was Fiona.

She was about to exit when her finger slipped and accidentally hit accept.

Almost immediately, a message from Fiona came through.

"Dominic left his clothes at my place. Do you need me to have someone deliver them to The Stone Manor?"

Below the message was an attached photo.

Dominic's shirt and pants were scattered beside a bed.

Cordelia replied, "Should I ask Dominic for you?"

After she sent this message, there was no response from Fiona.

"Cordelia."

As Dominic walked to the doorway, he saw Cordelia coming down from upstairs.

Cordelia nodded slightly, a smile on her face, and said softly.

"Fiona asked me to ask you where you want the clothes you left at her place delivered."

A flash of embarrassment crossed Dominic's face.

Cordelia's expression remained calm as she quietly waited for his answer.

Dominic explained, "Cordelia, I got drunk last night, I..."

Cordelia nodded. "I know. Dominic, you don't need to explain to me."

"But drinking too much causes problems and harms your health. You should drink less in the future."

Dominic was left speechless by Cordelia's words, unable to say anything.

"I need to go to work now."

Cordelia's smile remained as she walked past Dominic.

After taking a few steps, she stopped, as if suddenly remembering something, and looked at Dominic.

"Dominic, that house of yours in the suburbs is almost finished being renovated, right?"

Cordelia didn't spell it out, but Dominic understood what she meant.

"It's already done. The furniture has all been bought."

Cordelia smiled gently. "Then when you move in, you'll have to treat us to dinner."

Dominic nodded. "Of course."

Cordelia: "That's good then. I'm heading to the hospital now."

After saying this, she walked away.

Dominic stood there, watching her retreating figure, feeling unusually heavy-hearted.

He knew that he no longer had any chance with Cordelia.

Sunrise Valley Hospital.

As soon as Cordelia entered the department, she heard sounds of painful wailing.

The nurses at the nurses' station all looked stressed.

As Cordelia passed by, one of the nurses called out to her.

"Dr. Stone, a patient came to the emergency department last night. Since all the other doctors already have a lot of patients, he was assigned to you."

Cordelia nodded in agreement. "Okay."

"Send me his information in a bit."

After saying this, she entered her office. After putting on her white coat, she also received the patient's information.

She opened the file.

Jason, male, 21 years old.

After getting a basic understanding of his information, Cordelia headed to the patient's room.

She knocked and entered the room.

A nurse was applying medicine to Jason.

Jason was wailing dramatically the whole time. The nurse held the medicine in her hand with an exasperated expression on her face.

Cordelia walked over to ask about the situation, but before she could speak, she saw Jason's face.

Wasn't this the guy who had harassed her last night?

"I'll take over."

Cordelia took the medicine from the nurse's hand and applied it to Jason with a few quick and rough movements.

Jason actually wasn't in much pain before, but Cordelia's movements were both fast and forceful, so a sudden sharp pain hit him and he almost passed out.

But after a few seconds, the pain gradually decreased.

"Feeling better, Mr. White?"

Cordelia asked in an even tone.

Jason nodded weakly.

Cordelia lifted his shirt to examine his injuries.

"Are you sure it's just a simple fall?"

Not only was his tailbone fractured, but several ribs on his left side were also broken, and there were other injuries. It didn't look like a simple fall—he must have been beaten up.

Thinking of his behavior last night, he really was asking for it. He must have offended quite a few people.

"Do you need me to file a police report for you?"

He could only lie on his right side right now, so he couldn't see Cordelia's face.

Hearing Cordelia's words, Jason became somewhat angry.

"I said it was a fall, so it was a fall."

"Just treat me and stop talking so much."

Cordelia raised an eyebrow and pressed down on one of the bruised areas on Jason's skin.

Jason gasped in pain.

"Does it hurt?" Cordelia asked.

Jason answered through gritted teeth, "Yes."

Cordelia pressed on several other bruised areas, asking each time.

"What about here? Does it hurt?"

"And here?"

After responding a few times, Jason became very impatient. He turned around despite the pain, furious.

"Are you trying to kill me with pain?"

After seeing Cordelia's face clearly, Jason's voice mixed disbelief with his anger.

Cordelia turned to the nurse beside her and said.

"Take him for a full examination of all the places I just pressed."

"He was probably beaten up by someone, which is why his whole body has injuries of varying degrees. From the looks of it, they hit him pretty hard. There should be internal damage of varying degrees. Check if any of his organs are damaged."

The nurse nodded and took notes.

Seeing that Cordelia had figured out he'd been beaten, Jason immediately bristled like an angry cat.

"I told you, I fell! In Shadowpine, who would dare hit me? Do they have a death wish?"

"Don't get too emotional." Cordelia casually pulled Jason's hospital gown back down and habitually straightened it for him.

Jason looked at Cordelia's actions with a somewhat complicated expression.

He was about to say something when Cordelia added, "I'm just worried there might be internal problems. If a blood vessel ruptures, it might be hard to control."

Jason immediately lost his temper and lay limply on his side on the bed.

Since he couldn't eat breakfast before some of the tests, Cordelia casually asked.

"Have you eaten breakfast yet?"

Jason's body on the hospital bed stiffened slightly, and he remained silent for a long time.

After he was admitted to the hospital last night, none of his usual fair-weather friends came to check on him.

After his parents divorced and started new families with new children, they didn't have time to care about him even after learning he was hospitalized.

Cordelia was the first person to ask if he'd eaten.

People are most vulnerable when they're sick.

Jason's feelings were complicated. He answered sullenly.

"No."

Just as he was feeling somewhat ashamed of his behavior last night, he heard Cordelia reply in a calm tone, "That's good then. You can't eat breakfast before some of the tests."

Jason had just been feeling touched, but suddenly hearing Cordelia say this, he couldn't help but curse.

"Fuck!"

What was he getting emotional about?
