Chapter 173 Is Amber Really Not Thomas's Child?
Even though Thomas and Kenna had explained many times that Amber wasn't his child,
Kenna still refused to believe what Thomas said.
She just felt that Thomas simply didn't want to fight for custody of Amber.
"You say Amber isn't your child? Then who is Amber's father?"
Thomas was at a loss for words.
Amber's father was a secret that Cordelia had been desperately trying to keep hidden.
He had already caused trouble for Cordelia, so naturally he wouldn't reveal this secret.
"Mom, please just stop asking."
Hearing Thomas's response, Kenna became even more convinced that Amber was Thomas's child.
"Thomas, after Amber comes back to our family, you won't need to raise her. I'll help you take care of the child and raise her."
"Thomas, no matter what, our family has status and reputation in Shadowpine. If you have Amber by your side, naturally no one will believe those rumors about you in Astoria."
Although Kenna no longer forced Thomas to go on blind dates, she still couldn't accept Thomas's sexual orientation.
Amber's existence seemed like proof that Thomas was a normal man.
The Thompson family was desperately eager to get custody of the child.
Thomas looked at Kenna's frantic state and felt a headache coming on.
The Stone family also knew that the Thompson family would never give up on Amber, whom they saw as a way to save Thomas's reputation, so they were especially on guard.
Marigold and Kenna visited several times, but were turned away by the Stone family each time.
Marigold couldn't stand this frustration anymore and simply went straight to Sunrise Valley Hospital.
After arriving at Sunrise Valley Hospital, she headed straight for Cordelia's office.
Cordelia was organizing patient files when Marigold walked in and immediately snatched the files from Cordelia's hands, throwing them aside.
"It's really difficult to see Dr. Stone."
The nurse who was talking with Cordelia was completely stunned by this scene.
She was about to get angry, but when she saw that the visitor was Ruth's younger sister, she immediately knew she couldn't afford to offend her. Holding back her anger, she bent down to pick up the files.
Cordelia remained calm and said in a steady tone, "It's okay, just print another copy."
"You can go ahead with your work."
Seeing Cordelia's calm and composed expression, the nurse felt more at ease, nodded, and left her office.
Marigold pulled out the chair across from Cordelia with a cold face and sat down, looking at Cordelia with displeasure.
"No matter what, Amber has Thomas's blood running through her veins. Even if we don't have custody, we should at least have visitation rights, right?"
"What do you mean by blocking us from seeing Amber like this?"
Cordelia looked up at the agitated Marigold and said with a smile.
"Marigold, Amber has nothing to do with the Thompson family. I've explained this many times already. Visitation rights? Where would you get visitation rights from?"
Marigold took a deep breath and looked at Cordelia with resentful eyes.
"Don't try to deny Amber's relationship with the Thompson family. Thomas is Amber's father."
"Thomas doesn't want to break ties with you and fight for Amber's custody because he's worried Amber is too young and would be affected."
"But since your Stone family is being so rude to us, don't blame me for being rude to you."
As Marigold spoke, she suddenly slammed her hand on Cordelia's desk.
Cordelia glanced at it with a bland expression, a hint of displeasure hidden in her eyes.
Marigold secretly gritted her teeth, got up from her chair, and walked straight to Cordelia's office door, looking like she was about to make a scene.
Cordelia had seen Marigold make a fuss before at The Thompson Manor.
She frowned and also stood up. Just as Marigold was about to speak, Cordelia walked to her side and said softly.
"Marigold, go ahead and shout."
"Tell everyone that I secretly gave birth to a child and won't let you visit."
Hearing Cordelia's words, Marigold's expression couldn't help but stiffen slightly.
Cordelia had completely guessed what she wanted to say.
She gritted her teeth secretly and looked at Cordelia viciously, "Aren't you afraid of what people will say?"
Cordelia's lips curved into a slight smile as she said softly, "Of course I'm afraid, but since Amber isn't Thomas's child, no matter how you slander me, I'm not afraid."
"When things blow up, I'll release the paternity test between Amber and Thomas, proving that Amber has nothing to do with Thomas."
"Then do you think people will wonder why the Thompson family is so determined to take someone else's child?"
Marigold's face suddenly changed.
"Are you threatening me?"
Cordelia smiled lightly and said gently.
"Marigold, you're really confused in your old age. Clearly you threatened me first."
"I was just giving an example of what would happen if you made a scene here."
Marigold took a deep breath and looked at Cordelia with some hatred.
"What you said actually reminds me - I'm going to have Thomas and Amber do a paternity test!"
"If she really isn't Thomas's child, the Thompson family won't want some illegitimate daughter."
The smile on Cordelia's face immediately disappeared, and her expression suddenly darkened.
She stared coldly at Marigold, with a hint of murderous intent in her eyes.
"Are you sure that Thomas's generation can still have descendants?"
She coldly refuted Marigold's words.
Marigold was so angry at Cordelia's words that she was breathing heavily.
"You!"
Her hand trembled as she pointed at Cordelia.
Cordelia laughed coldly.
"I promised Thomas I would help him, but that doesn't mean you can freely insult me and insult my daughter. For Thomas's sake, I didn't want to argue with you."
"Thomas has been having psychological problems lately, and as his grandmother, you should be well aware of that."
"So I won't make any clarifications, and you shouldn't come bothering me either. Otherwise, this will become the last straw that breaks Thomas."
Thomas's condition was already very unstable.
If his romantic situation was exposed, he would become the subject of public discussion.
Love that was common abroad was still seen as abnormal by most people in the country.
By then, Thomas would not only have to suffer the pain of a broken heart, but also face criticism from some people in society.
"Marigold, words can kill people."
"Do you want to kill your own grandson with your own hands?"
Marigold's face changed dramatically. She was so shocked by Cordelia's words that she almost couldn't stand steady.
She gripped the door frame tightly, looking at Cordelia with nervous and astonished eyes.
She couldn't imagine that the sharp-tongued Cordelia before her was the same person who used to stand in front of her not daring to breathe loudly, meek and submissive.
Marigold gripped her cane tightly. After calming down, she looked at Cordelia with a heavy gaze and asked.
"Is Amber really not Thomas's child?"
