Chapter 166 Cordelia Doesn't Even Want Alaric, How Could She Fancy Thomas

Chapter 166 Cordelia Doesn't Even Want Alaric, How Could She Fancy Thomas

"Ms. Stone."

Terry changed how he addressed Cordelia, looking quite embarrassed.

Cordelia wore a faint smile, her expression calm as usual.

"Terry, Thomas and I could never get married."

"I was just helping Thomas out before, meeting you all because he was worried you wouldn't accept his sexual orientation, and concerned that Marigold's health might be affected by the shock."

"But I just saw that Marigold is healthy and strong, with great acceptance, so Thomas was worrying too much."

"Amber is my daughter alone and has nothing to do with Thomas."

Cordelia smiled politely and left.

Terry figured Cordelia's statement about Amber being her child alone must have been said in anger.

He sighed, staring heavily at Cordelia's retreating figure, then carefully returned to Ruth's hospital room.

When Alaric entered Ruth's room, he didn't know what Marigold had told Ruth, but Ruth looked very angry, struggling hard to make sounds, urgently trying to express herself.

But she still couldn't get out a complete sentence.

She could only slap her thighs.

Marigold sat beside Ruth with a stern face, saying in a low voice.

"I told you from the start that Cordelia wasn't good enough for Alaric."

"She's not good enough for Alaric, and not even good enough for our Thomas, but she's so scheming—secretly having our Thomas's child! Now she's using the child to force our Thomas to marry her!"

"Both our families have been completely screwed over by her!"

Alaric stood coldly at the hospital room door and said in a deep voice.

"Great-aunt Marigold."

"My grandmother isn't feeling well, so please stop telling her these things."

Marigold paused when she saw Alaric come in.

Ruth kept shaking her head vigorously, denying what Marigold was saying.

But in Marigold and Alaric's eyes, they just thought Ruth liked Cordelia so much that she couldn't accept learning Cordelia was this kind of person.

Ruth frantically grabbed a piece of paper from the table, wanting to write on it, but her hands shook badly and she couldn't write a single complete word.

Seeing this, Alaric could only ask them to leave.

"Great-aunt Marigold, please go back for now."

Marigold worried that what she'd just told Ruth had worsened Ruth's condition, so she quickly said to Alaric.

"Alaric, it's really not that Thomas wants to marry her—she's threatening us with the child. We have no choice."

"You and Thomas are cousins. I hope you and Thomas, the Hughes family and the Thompson family, won't let Cordelia create a rift between you."

What Marigold worried about most was that if Thomas married Cordelia, Alaric would lose face and target the Thompson family, so now she could only push all the blame onto Cordelia.

She grabbed Alaric's hand urgently, looking helpless.

Alaric said coldly with a stern face.

"Cordelia and I are already divorced. People are free to marry who they want."

"Great-aunt Marigold, why would I let some unimportant woman create a rift between Thomas and me?"

Terry came in just in time to hear Alaric's words, and his anxious heart settled down.

Marigold also breathed a heavy sigh of relief.

Ruth's trembling hand knocked the water cup off the table to show her displeasure.

Alaric frowned and walked over.

Marigold immediately grabbed Terry's hand and left Ruth's hospital room.

Ruth was very dissatisfied with Marigold's words.

She knew very clearly when Cordelia got pregnant and when she met Thomas.

Marigold had actually slandered Cordelia in front of her, talking nonsense.

But now she couldn't say a single word, couldn't even defend Cordelia, and could only let Marigold say these things in front of her.

Alaric walked to Ruth's side and helped her sit back down on the sofa.

"Grandma, Cordelia and I are already divorced. Whatever she does has nothing to do with us."

"You don't need to get angry over this."

Ruth shook her head hard.

She was anxious to defend Cordelia, wanting to tell the truth, but still couldn't say anything.

Alaric patted Ruth's back. Ruth pushed his hand away in anger, looking at Alaric with resentment.

If Alaric hadn't asked Cordelia for a divorce in the first place, things wouldn't have turned out this way.

Alaric looked at Ruth's angry expression and sighed.

"Grandma."

As he started to speak, Ruth raised her hands to cover her ears, unwilling to hear his voice.

Clifford went back to The Stone Manor to pack some clean clothes for Ruth and brought Saskia over to take care of her.

When Ruth saw Clifford, she immediately gestured with her hands, wanting to see Cordelia.

Clifford couldn't understand what Ruth meant at first.

Ruth anxiously slapped her thighs and started crying in frustration.

Seeing Ruth like this, Alaric couldn't help clenching his fists, wanting to punch the wall to vent all his emotions.

But in the end he held back, looked at Clifford, and said calmly.

"Go get Cordelia."

Clifford quickly left Ruth's room to call Cordelia over.

When Cordelia heard from Clifford that Ruth was very emotional and wanted to see her, she knew Marigold must have said something to Ruth.

She walked into Ruth's hospital room with a serious expression.

Alaric stood in the room with a cold face.

Saskia also looked uneasy.

Ruth looked excited when she saw Cordelia.

Cordelia sighed and took Ruth's hand. "Mrs. Hughes."

When Alaric saw that Ruth's agitated emotions completely calmed down upon seeing Cordelia, he frowned, turned around, and left Ruth's hospital room.

He closed the door as he left.

Cordelia glanced at the closed door and said softly.

"Grandma, there's nothing between Thomas and me. It's just a misunderstanding."

Ruth nodded earnestly after hearing Cordelia's words. Unable to speak, she could only gesture anxiously with her hands to express herself.

Cordelia held Ruth's hand tightly and smiled slightly.

"I know Marigold probably said something to you, but you have to trust me."

Ruth nodded earnestly, showing that she of course believed Cordelia.

Before going abroad, Cordelia didn't even know Thomas, so what Marigold had just said to her was complete nonsense.

She was just angry—angry that Marigold would bring the child into it.

Cordelia didn't even want Alaric, so how could she possibly be interested in Thomas, who was as delicate as a girl!
