Chapter 158 Janet Has Been Imitating Cordelia's Style
Cordelia now has only one patient—Alaric.
Alaric isn't at the hospital today, so she's particularly free.
After seeing Joe off, Cordelia went to Alaric's hospital room to retrieve her medical books.
As soon as she got back to her office, a message from Hannah came through.
"Isn't Mr. Hughes still in the hospital? How is he on a plane with Janet?"
"Please tell me this picture is photoshopped by Janet, so I can go give them a piece of my mind."
Cordelia opened the image Hannah sent and glanced at it.
It was a selfie of Janet, her face beautifully made up and looking gentle. But the focus of the photo was what appeared in the corner.
She seemed to have deliberately included a glimpse of the corner, where Alaric could be seen wearing a black eye mask, leaning back in his seat resting.
Alaric frequently appeared in financial magazines, and his handsome, distinctive face was easily recognizable, so many people immediately identified the person in the corner as Alaric.
Cordelia exited her chat with Hannah and checked Janet's social media platform, but didn't see Janet posting this content.
She logged into another platform and scrolled for a bit, then her finger paused as she realized this was completely pointless.
She pressed her lips together and returned to her chat with Hannah.
"Where did you get this photo?"
Hannah replied, "From her fan group, of course."
"I really don't understand why someone like her even has fans, so I infiltrated her fan group. She posted this photo in the fan group herself."
Soon, several screenshots popped up in the chat.
The screenshots mostly showed Janet's fans praising her.
"Janet is so pretty, Janet is so beautiful."
"Janet, kisses."
"Who's that man in the corner?"
"Who is he? So lucky to be sitting next to Janet."
"Oh, it's Mr. Hughes. Mr. Hughes is so lucky to have such a beautiful girlfriend like Janet."
"Mr. Hughes and Janet have been together for many years, right? When are you two getting married? @Janet."
At the bottom of the screenshot was Janet's response.
"Alaric and I are just good friends. If we really get together and decide to get married, we'll definitely let everyone know right away."
Hannah felt annoyed seeing Janet deliberately stirring up these rumors.
Just as Cordelia was about to type a response, Hannah called her instead.
"I've never seen a woman as disgusting as Janet!"
"She's perfect influencer material—absolutely shameless."
Hearing Hannah's agitated tone, Cordelia chuckled softly and said.
"Why are you so worked up? Don't tell me you like Alaric?"
Hearing Cordelia's joking tone, Hannah immediately gave her an earful.
Cordelia knew, of course, that Hannah didn't like Alaric—she just wanted to lighten the mood.
"Hannah, just leave the group."
"Don't look at this stuff and let it affect your mood. Alaric is just someone I know now, nothing more."
Hearing Cordelia's words, Hannah fell silent for a few seconds, then said.
"I just remember all the hardship you went through when you gave birth to Amber in Astoria was caused by them, so I can't stand seeing them doing well."
Cordelia's hand holding the phone tightened slightly, but she quickly smiled.
"That was my own choice."
"Besides, the little bit of hardship I went through back then gave me such a sweet daughter like Amber. I think it was worth it."
Hannah sighed softly, then couldn't help cursing Janet a few more times before ending the call.
After hanging up, she clicked into Janet's fan group, feeling she should do something before leaving, and directly @Janet.
"Why does it feel like your style is becoming more and more like Mr. Hughes's ex-wife?"
"Don't tell me you're deliberately copying her?"
Hannah looked at the message she'd sent and smiled.
Just as she was about to see what kind of discussion her words would trigger, she suddenly found she could no longer receive messages from the group.
She sent an emoji to the group, and the chat page directly showed she'd been kicked out.
Hannah looked disdainful, put away her phone, and threw herself into work.
Silverlake Springs.
After getting off the plane, Janet immediately hailed a taxi and followed Alaric's car to the hotel.
She watched Alaric enter the hotel with her own eyes before opening the car door to get out, planning to check in at the front desk.
But when she got to the front desk, the hotel staff told her directly that there were no rooms available.
Janet was quite frustrated.
She took out her phone to check and eventually found a vacant room on the hotel's official website.
She placed her phone in front of the receptionist, dissatisfied, and said coldly.
"Is this how your hotel treats guests? Clearly you have rooms but you tell guests there aren't any."
"What, do you think I can't afford it?"
Although this hotel's prices were quite expensive, costing tens of thousands of dollars for one night, with suites being even more expensive, Janet could now completely afford it.
She was no longer the poor girl she used to be.
But deep down, she still had some insecurity, feeling that the hotel looked down on her and didn't want to let her stay.
The hotel manager heard Janet arguing at the front desk and immediately came over to handle it.
Another staff member took the room off the official website.
They had received instructions to absolutely not let Janet stay at their hotel.
Seeing that the staff had already taken the room offline, the hotel manager wore a polite smile.
"I'm sorry, Ms. Martin, we don't mean to look down on you at all. It's just that our backend updates slowly, so rooms that have been booked still show as available."
"If you don't believe me, check the booking page now—it will definitely show no vacant rooms."
Janet frowned and clicked to the booking page. Seeing no vacant rooms, her expression changed slightly.
The hotel manager still wore a polite smile on his face.
"Sorry about that, Ms. Martin."
Looking at the manager's smile, Janet gritted her teeth secretly. Even if she wanted to make a scene now, she had no grounds to do so.
Besides, this hotel was under the Hughes Group.
If Alaric found out she was causing trouble here, it would definitely work against her.
Janet frowned and ultimately chose to leave, checking into another hotel diagonally across from this one.
After entering her hotel room, she posted the photo she'd taken on the plane.
She enjoyed the adoration in her fan group.
She was scrolling through messages when suddenly someone said her style was becoming more and more like Cordelia's.
Her fan group suddenly went quiet.
She almost immediately kicked that person out of the fan group.
Her fans began to insult and curse the person who had just spoken.
Seeing this, Janet suddenly regretted kicking that person out so quickly, but she was also afraid they had other information that could make her carefully crafted image collapse.
She clicked on their profile to check, only to find they had posted almost no social media content.
She bit her lip, her mood immediately plummeting. How frustrating!
