Chapter 150 She Is Deliberately Seeking Revenge

Chapter 150 She Is Deliberately Seeking Revenge

Cordelia secretly let out a sigh of relief. Although she didn't refuse Amber, her eyes turned to Robert.

"Robert."

She spoke softly, but before she could finish, Robert's phone rang.

Robert knew exactly what Cordelia meant.

Alaric clearly wanted to use the excuse Amber gave him to get close to Cordelia. If he dared to pick up that bowl of soup, Alaric could fire him the next day.

He glanced at the caller ID on his phone and immediately said to Alaric.

"Mr. Hughes, Clio is calling. There might be something at the company. I need to head back."

Alaric replied in a low voice, "Okay."

Cordelia pressed her lips together, a hint of speechlessness flashing in her eyes.

Donald found an excuse to go to the bathroom.

Alaric seemed to do it on purpose, showing his bruised hand to Amber.

Amber looked at Cordelia with a pleading expression again.

"Mommy."

Cordelia took a deep breath and could only walk over to pick up the bowl of soup, feeding it to Alaric spoonful by spoonful.

Throughout the whole process, she had no interaction with Alaric. Instead, Amber leaned against Alaric's hospital bed asking if the chicken soup tasted good.

Of course Alaric said it was good.

Amber smiled with satisfaction. "This is the chicken soup Mommy ordered, specially for Mr. Hughes."

"My mommy's chicken soup is really good too."

Hearing this, Alaric immediately looked up at Cordelia, though his eyes showed some doubt.

"Really?"

He knew that Cordelia couldn't cook at all back then.

To prove she wasn't lying, Amber nodded her head vigorously several times.

Alaric looked up at Cordelia. "When did you learn to cook?"

Cordelia's expression was calm as she replied evenly, "After I divorced you."

Alaric was caught off guard by Cordelia's words.

Seeing his face gradually turn cold, Cordelia couldn't help but let a slight smile curl at the corners of her lips.

She had spoken without thinking, forgetting that Amber was at an age where she was curious about everything.

This was the first time Amber had heard the word "divorce."

She tilted her head and thought for a while, unable to understand what the word meant, so she looked at Cordelia and Alaric.

"Mommy, what does divorce mean?"

Cordelia paused.

Alaric also froze for a moment. Seeing Amber's curious eyes, he turned his gaze to Cordelia.

He was curious to see how Cordelia would explain this to Amber.

Seeing the hint of mockery in Alaric's eyes, Cordelia replied calmly, "It means to separate."

As she spoke, she stuffed the last spoonful of soup into Alaric's mouth with a bit of revenge.

Alaric frowned.

Cordelia glanced at him with displeasure, then took the bowl to the sink.

After she finished washing the bowl, Amber had already climbed onto Alaric's hospital bed.

Alaric cooperatively made room for Amber and helped her take off her shoes.

Amber had brought a children's handbag with her.

After sitting on Alaric's bed, she took out some sparkly stickers from the bag.

Amber sat obediently on the bed and said to Alaric very seriously.

"It won't hurt anymore after I put these on."

Alaric nodded and cooperatively raised his hand to let Amber put the stickers on him.

When Donald came back, he saw Amber obediently putting stickers all over Alaric.

Alaric patiently let her play.

Just as Cordelia was about to step forward to stop them, Donald held her back and shook his head.

Seeing this, Cordelia didn't go forward to stop them.

She walked to the sofa and sat down, watching the interaction between Alaric and Amber. She felt a bit drowsy.

She had stayed up almost all night watching over Alaric and only managed to fall asleep leaning against his bed this morning.

Shortly after sitting down, Cordelia's eyelids started to droop, and she leaned back on the sofa and fell into a deep sleep.

Donald ran into an old friend and went to their room to chat for quite a while.

After seeing Cordelia fall asleep, Alaric got out of bed, took a blanket, and covered Cordelia with it. Then he obediently lay back on the bed and let Amber continue putting stickers on him.

Cordelia slept lightly for a while before being woken by footsteps.

Bruce had heard that Alaric was hospitalized and rushed to the room.

Seeing that all of Alaric's exposed arms and face were covered with red and green stickers and little rhinestones that Amber had put on him, he burst out laughing.

"What kind of look is this?"

Cordelia was woken by Bruce's voice and opened her eyes.

Alaric glanced at Cordelia on the sofa and frowned, looking at Bruce with displeasure.

Bruce was startled by Alaric's look and only then noticed Cordelia sitting on the sofa.

"Cordelia."

"Did I wake you?"

He greeted her proactively.

Cordelia shook her head gently. "No."

She had just replied when she looked up at Alaric and saw that his face was covered with little sticker rhinestones. She paused.

The fact that Alaric could remain so calm while Amber decorated him like this showed how much he indulged her.

She felt some subtle emotions in her heart.

But soon she saw Amber still holding stickers, looking at Bruce.

"Mr. Howard, stickers."

Amber's voice was soft and sweet. Bruce actually leaned his face toward Amber.

Amber took a pink rhinestone sticker and stuck it right on Bruce's forehead.

Perhaps thinking she had done a good and beautiful job, she clapped her hands after putting it on.

Seeing how well-behaved Amber was, Bruce immediately reached out to pick her up.

Amber was already very familiar with Bruce. During this time, Bruce often went to The Stone Manor to discuss his and Evelyn's wedding with Donald.

Usually, whenever he reached out, Amber would open her arms to let him hold her.

But this time, Amber directly pushed his hand away and crawled closer to Alaric.

Worried that Amber might fall, Alaric used his hand to guard the edge. After Amber sat down next to Alaric, she started putting stickers on his earlobes.

Seeing how harmonious the relationship between Amber and Alaric was, Bruce couldn't help but glance at Cordelia.

He wanted to see what her reaction was.

However, Cordelia's expression was calm. She quietly glanced at Alaric and Amber, then walked to the cabinet to prepare medicine.

After preparing the medicine, Cordelia walked to Alaric's side with a glass of water and held it out.

"Time to take your medicine."

Just as Alaric was about to reach for the glass, the little sticker on the back of his hand fell off.

Amber immediately held down Alaric's hand.

"Mr. Hughes, don't move."

Alaric raised an eyebrow, looked at Cordelia, and said calmly, "I'll have to trouble Dr. Stone then."

Seeing this, Cordelia naturally stuffed the medicine in her hand into Alaric's mouth, then brought the glass directly to his lips.

Seeing Alaric get a mouthful of pills, Bruce laughed.

Suddenly having a big handful of pills stuffed in his mouth, Alaric almost couldn't swallow them.

After swallowing, the bitterness instantly spread through his mouth.

Cordelia smiled slightly and said gently.

"Mr. Hughes, don't mention it."

Alaric was immediately full of resentment. He finally understood—Cordelia was deliberately getting revenge.
