Chapter 107 Cordelia Joins Sunrise Valley Hospital
Saskia watched Alaric's retreating figure, a look of bewilderment flashing across her face.
She had been calling Cordelia "Mrs. Hughes" for so many years. Suddenly being asked to change how she addressed her, she would definitely feel uncomfortable.
After Alaric left, she let out a soft sigh and continued cooking.
The nutritionist helping out on the side was Ruth. She had only come to The Hughes Manor after her legs became inconvenient. She had never met Cordelia before, so she couldn't help but ask curiously.
"Saskia, is that Cordelia from the Stone family really Mr. Hughes's wife?"
Saskia took a deep breath, her expression showing some helplessness and disappointment.
"Yes, she used to be."
Just as Alaric had said, he and Cordelia were already divorced, and judging by Alaric's attitude, it seemed he had no intention of remarrying Cordelia. So whether Cordelia would still be the lady of the Hughes family in the future was uncertain.
After leaving the kitchen, Alaric headed straight out of The Hughes Manor.
As he passed through the courtyard, Ruth glanced at him and said in a low voice.
"Are you sure you won't stay home for dinner?"
Alaric nodded, "Yes, tonight's business dinner is quite important, so I might come back a bit late. You don't need to wait for me."
Hearing this, Ruth frowned, "Even if Cordelia is coming over, you still won't stay home?"
Alaric's stern face showed no change.
Ruth tried to see some hesitation in his deep eyes, but there was none.
When he heard Cordelia's name, it was as if he heard a stranger's name - not a ripple of emotion.
"Grandma, tonight's business dinner is very important. No matter who's coming, I can't stay home for dinner."
"I need to go now, it won't look good if I'm late."
Ruth's expression immediately darkened. She watched Alaric's departing figure, her eyes showing some displeasure.
Seeing this, Clifford also let out a deep sigh.
Fortunately, Cordelia and Amber soon arrived at The Hughes Manor.
Even though Ruth had just been upset about Alaric leaving, when she saw Cordelia and Amber arrive, a smile returned to Ruth's face.
Cordelia hadn't been to The Hughes Manor for three years.
The Hughes Manor had a new batch of servants, some unfamiliar faces that Cordelia didn't recognize.
Ruth held Amber while sitting in her wheelchair, and they entered the house together.
When Saskia saw Cordelia, her expression was very excited. She immediately walked up to Cordelia, "Ms. Stone, it's been so long."
Cordelia nodded gently.
Only then did Saskia notice the child in Ruth's arms.
This child looked very similar to Cordelia.
When Cordelia went abroad back then, apart from Clifford and Ruth, no one else in the Hughes family knew that Cordelia was pregnant.

"This is?"
Cordelia smiled, "This is my daughter."

"How old is she?"
Cordelia answered softly, "She's two."
Hearing this, Saskia suddenly looked up at Cordelia.
Ruth glanced at Saskia lightly and interrupted her.
"Is dinner ready?"
Saskia nodded and immediately instructed the kitchen to start serving the food.
In the dining room.
Clifford took Amber from Ruth's arms and had a servant bring out a children's chair that was just bought today, placing it next to Ruth.
Amber really liked the new children's chair.
Cordelia watched the smile on her face, her lips curving slightly.
During the meal, Ruth was very careful in looking after Amber, using utensils to serve her food.
After serving the food, Ruth looked at Cordelia and asked.
"You've finished your studies now, and you'll definitely need to go back to work at a hospital. Have you thought about which hospital you want to join?"
Hannah had been at Sunrise Valley Hospital all along and had been promoted to director.
Joe now held the position of deputy director.
Jake was getting old and was on the verge of retirement, leaving many matters for Joe to handle.
"Of course I'm going back to Sunrise Valley Hospital."
Cordelia smiled, knowing that Ruth was worried she might choose another hospital.
But she still wanted to stay in a familiar environment.
Besides, as soon as she returned to the country, Hannah had already sent her a job offer.
She and Hannah were good friends for many years, and Hannah had kept in touch with her throughout her time studying abroad.
Hearing that Cordelia would be joining Sunrise Valley Hospital, Ruth's expression showed some relief, and she nodded with satisfaction.
"I'm very happy that you chose Sunrise Valley Hospital. With you there in the future, I can rest easy."
Sunrise Valley Hospital had developed very well over the years.
It had become almost the most capable medical institution in Shadowpine, with authoritative medical experts in various fields.
Cordelia smiled at Ruth and said softly, "Sunrise Valley Hospital is now the best hospital in Shadowpine, so of course I'll choose Sunrise Valley Hospital."
At Sunrise Valley Hospital, she could learn a lot.
Plus, the familiar environment and familiar people would mean she wouldn't have to worry about interpersonal relationships at work.
After dinner.
Cordelia and Amber sat on the sofa chatting with Ruth.
Amber was getting sleepy, her little head nodding as she sat on the sofa.
Ruth felt heartbroken watching this and said softly to Cordelia.
"Cordelia, why don't you stay here tonight?"
"I've already had someone prepare the bedroom."
Ruth's eyes were full of hope.

"Amber needs a familiar sleeping environment."

Watching Amber like this, Ruth felt her heart melting.
After the Stone family's car left, Ruth sat in her wheelchair quietly wiping away tears.
Seeing this, Clifford consoled her softly.
"Mrs. Hughes, please don't be sad. No matter what, Amber and Ms. Stone have returned to the country. Whenever you want to see them, you can visit The Stone Manor anytime."
Hearing this, Ruth nodded gently.
"You're right."
After saying this, she thought of Alaric's firm attitude again, and her heart filled with anger.
