Chapter 129 Do it or die

Chapter 129 Do it or die

After leaving Karen, Roger headed to the location provided by his spies, unfazed by what he encountered. He could have enlisted help for this task, but he was determined to handle it alone, unwilling to tarnish his honor by relying on the Dawson guards as he had at Wade’s mansion.

For Roger, honor meant seeking vengeance for his loved one on his own, regardless of the risks involved. This was the only way to assuage the guilt he felt for not arriving in time.

During his initial peaceful conversation with Delanie, he had dismissed his spies, intending to reveal her identity. Little did he know that in that brief absence, a sinister event would unfold.

When he heard the commotion during Delanie's second call, he summoned his spies to accompany him, fearing he might be too late.

It was a biker hangout, but the gang had sought refuge there upon learning of the Dawson's involvement. Acting on orders, their leader had distanced himself upon hearing of the defeat of the first and second gangs.

Not all gang members were present at the location, but a gang shared in the success and failure of its members. Since their comrades had failed, retribution was inevitable.

Roger's outward calmness belied the fierce determination within him. As he entered the bar, the bikers were casually drinking and chatting, unaware of the impending storm.

Observing the surroundings like a predator before striking, Roger finally spoke in a measured tone, "Bring me the N-40 gang."

His voice may have been drowned out by the music, and the N-40 gang was notorious for their ruthlessness.

With time running out for his brother-in-law's urgent surgery, Roger fired a warning shot that silenced the music and captured everyone's attention.

Recognizing him, the bikers, who were hired to protect the gang, chose to return the money rather than face certain death.

One by one, they began to exit, but Roger halted the last one. "Reveal their whereabouts, and your family will never want for anything."

Principles would not allow him to attack the innocent along with the guilty, so every piece of information he needed would have to be paid for.

The biker stared at him, feeling the urge to pee in his pants. The Dawsons had not been involved in the mafia for decades until now. Even though Roger's skills were unknown, they were aware of Giovanni Dawson's support.

Serenity soothed Roger's tone, concealing the fire ready to consume his enemies. The man, burly and wearing a cross necklace, bent over.

"I don’t need to tell you, Mr. Dawson, and you don't need to compensate me. There is only one way in and one way out," he said before swiftly exiting the door.

Roger's eyebrows furrowed as he surveyed the now empty biker club, with beer bottles scattered and some chairs overturned.

It seemed like chaos had erupted, but he wasn't even there for them. His steps were calm, the sound of his shoes tapping in the now quiet room, the lingering scent of alcohol in the air.

"Perhaps you can tell me who sent you and live to see another day. You don't have to die for something you were ordered to do."

The gang bosses would take the job and the money, with only a small amount trickling into their pockets, but Roger heard no response.

With that, he fired at the door in front of him, which swung open to reveal a room packed with people like sardines.

Roger chuckled, "I thought you were a gang. It seems more like I'm after chickens."

One of the men stepped out of the crowded room and looked at him apologetically. "I'm sorry, Mr. Dawson, but we're not a gang. We're just a distraction, and as we speak, the N-40 gang is on its way to Mexico."

A cold chill blew over Roger, and he punched the man in the face. “How dare you fool me?”

He dialed a number on the phone. “Come to the biker’s club and round everyone up. We shall deal with them upon my return, but I heard the N-40 gang is on its way to Mexico. I want to know which means they are traveling by and how far they have gone.”

The others in the small room hastened out and began begging, but Roger was already at the door, about to lock them inside when one of them asked, “What if we tell you exactly where they are? Will you let us go?”

Roger froze momentarily before responding, “That depends on how fast you get me the information.”

Nodding, the man spoke with the speed of lightning. “I overheard the leader of the gang telling them to spend the night at a motel and make the journey at dawn by a vehicle he would arrange.”

“What is the name of the motel?” Roger demanded. The man quickly gave him the address, but Roger did not let them go. “If what you say is true, then I’ll let you go, but if I find out you lied, you are all dead.”

His spies arrived right on time, and he instructed them, “Watch them until I give the green light.”

The appearance of the men in black gave the men chills as they awaited their fate. Roger arrived at the motel, a very small one that had been booked entirely by the gang.

Not wasting much time as he wanted to get to the hospital in time to donate his kidney, he dropped bundles of cash at the counter, and the lady at the front desk gawked at him as if he had grown two horns.

She had never seen so much money in her life, but Roger’s instruction was simple. “Show me where the N-40 gang is, and don’t give them a hint. Take this money and leave now.”

Too stunned to speak, she wrote the room number on a paper, grabbed the money, and bolted. Roger kicked the door open and immediately began shooting at everything in view.

Ten men were down, all of them covered in the same type of tattoos. When the shooting stopped, he heard movements in the closet and opened it. A bullet hit his chest but he fired back at the three men hiding inside.

One man ran out of the bathroom naked, aiming for the door, but Roger kicked him, causing him to lose his balance.

As the gun was pointed at him, the man began to beg, "Mr. Dawson, please, it was an order, but the girl is nobody."

Roger tried to hit him but paused, ignoring his bleeding chest. The pain was nothing compared to what he felt at seeing his sister in the state she was in before he left.

There was a chance for information he didn't want to miss. "Who sent you?"

"Salvador Rodrigue. He said the client paid very high to have the girl, Therese, dead. He did a check on the name and found nothing of value, so he instructed us to carry out the order.

When he found out our members had been killed and your involvement, he told us to return home."

Roger shot him in the legs, watching him bleed before telling him, "Tell your boss that I'm coming for him."

If not for Wade, he would have gone to meet Salvador, but allowing a few weeks was still not bad.

As he arrived at the hospital, he had no idea how much blood he had lost from the gunshot wound. He entered the doctor's office and said, "I'm ready for the kidney transplant."

The doctor stared at his bloodied form and shook his head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Dawson, we can't perform the surgery on you. You are medically unfit. Let's get the bullet out before we lose you."

Roger was already feeling dizzy due to the loss of blood, but a promise was a promise. Pulling out a gun, he pointed it at the doctor. "Do it or die."
