Chapter 194: Your Ex-Wife Is Pregnant with Twins

Chapter 194: Your Ex-Wife Is Pregnant with Twins

Arabella was taken aback and asked in surprise, "That happened?"

Flora shrugged. "Tiffany came from the red-light district. Once she finally got close to our circle, of course she went after the most powerful person first. Alex is the most capable and influential among all of us. Tiffany's initial target was Alex, and he almost fell for her tricks..."

Before she could finish, Flora suddenly felt a sharp, piercing gaze from above, as if it would drill through her skull. Her scalp tingling, she looked up to meet Alexander's warning eyes.

Flora smiled awkwardly and complained to Arabella, "See? He doesn't even dare let me talk about it."

Arabella just smiled with her lips pressed together, not pursuing the topic.

Flora felt frustrated. She'd been stirring up trouble so obviously—what was Arabella thinking, just letting it go? Shouldn't she immediately demand to know what happened, so Flora could embellish and tell her all kinds of terrible things about Alexander?

Alexander glanced at Flora without saying more, but clearly, he'd reached his limit.

Flora touched her nose and didn't dare continue.

She stood up and smiled at Arabella. "I'm going to the restroom."

Arabella nodded with a slight smile.

When Flora came out of the restroom, she was surprised to see Alexander standing there. He was clearly waiting for her.

Flora's steps faltered, looking at him somewhat guiltily. "Alex, you need the restroom too?"

Alexander's expression didn't change. "You're trying to drive a wedge between me and Arabella? What's your goal?"

Flora played dumb. "I'm not. I just wanted to tell her more about our past, to help her fit in faster."

Alexander's brow furrowed slightly as he said bluntly, "No need. She's my wife. I'll naturally help her integrate. Don't say those insinuating things to Arabella anymore. I will never leave her in this lifetime. No matter what you try, I'll never like you."

He walked away after speaking.

Flora stood frozen in place, her face ashen.

She'd always thought Alex was just aloof, that he had no idea she liked him. Though she'd always intentionally flirted with him under the guise of joking, he'd never responded. She thought he simply didn't understand.

But today, he'd made it crystal clear.

So he knew she liked him. So he knew all these years she'd been so devoted.

But he'd never given her any response, never given her the slightest bit of hope.

She thought she was clever, staying by his side as a close confidante, thinking someday she could reach his heart.

But it turned out she'd never had a chance from the start.

Flora's eyes couldn't help reddening.

Just then, footsteps sounded behind her, stopping at her back.

Flora turned around to see a familiar face.

"Anthony?"

She sneered. "What are you doing here? Did you forget how I warned you last time?"

Anthony looked at her with a half-smile, arms crossed casually. He glanced in the direction Alexander had left. "You're pretty hurt?"

Flora's face darkened. "None of your damn business."

She turned to leave.

Anthony spoke behind her. "Someone as good as you—why hang yourself on one tree? Since he doesn't know how to cherish you, why not step back from the cliff? There are plenty of people willing to open their arms to you."

He walked in front of Flora and spread his arms. "Like me, for instance."

Flora looked at him like he was an idiot. "Are you sick? You don't actually think that's charming, do you? Please, look in a mirror. You dare hit on even me—zero self-awareness. I may want to date someone, but not every stray dog catches my eye!"

Anthony's face soured. Anyone who thought they were being suave only to be called a "stray dog" wouldn't be pleased.

He stopped pretending and cut to the chase. "You've stayed by his side for over ten years, done so much for him, but in the end he discards you like trash for another woman. Are you really willing to accept that?"

Flora raised an eyebrow. "Looks like you've dug up quite a bit."

Anthony smiled. "At first I was just curious about who dared openly threaten me. When I couldn't find anything, I got even more curious. I spent considerable effort and finally discovered your identity."

"You, Flora. At ten your parents sold you to a drug lord. When he got tired of you, he threw you to his men. Later you got sick and were sent to work fraud. By chance you met Alexander. Through a twist of fate he rescued you. Since then you've been devoted to him, doing everything for him."

Anthony looked at her pointedly. "I got it right, didn't I?"

Flora shrugged. "I'm surprised, Mr. Watson. Your network is impressive—you've uncovered everything about someone like me who works in the shadows. So what's your goal?"

Anthony wore a refined smile, though he felt irritated inside.

He made it sound simple, but it had been incredibly difficult to investigate. He'd expended enormous resources, even sending people deep into northern Myanmar, before finally uncovering Flora's origins.

Flora was Alexander's sharpest blade. She knew many of his secrets. If he could win over Flora, dealing with Alexander would be easy.

Especially since he'd been increasingly suspicious of Alexander's intentions. If he could turn Flora, he could learn what Alexander was really planning.

So he was very patient, coaxing persuasively. "I know you like Alexander. Unfortunately, he's deeply involved with my ex-wife. And she's no pushover. As long as she's by his side, you won't get anywhere."

"How about we cooperate? I want Arabella, you want Alexander. We work together, each getting what we need. Perfect, right?"

Flora scoffed, looking at him with contempt. "Anthony, do you think everyone is like you—if you can't have someone, you destroy them? Yes, I like Alex and can't stand your ex-wife around him. But she's the woman he chose. What right do I have to interfere? As long as he's happy, that's enough. You don't actually think I'd be the kind of terrible woman who ruins relationships, do you? I'm nothing like you."

Was he serious? Alex was her savior, someone she'd respected and loved for over a decade. How could she possibly cooperate with an outsider against him for selfish reasons?

Anthony really had some nerve. No wonder Alex kept crushing him with that pig brain.

Flora suddenly seemed to remember something and looked at Anthony mockingly. "Oh right, there's something you probably don't know."

Anthony's expression darkened. "What?"

At this point he could see Flora was fiercely loyal to Alexander and wouldn't be easily turned. So he had no interest in being nice anymore.

Flora gave a devastatingly beautiful smile. "Your ex-wife is pregnant. With twins."

Seeing Anthony's face instantly turn ugly, she raised her eyebrows in surprise. "Looks like you know the problem's yours. Well yeah—two years with you and nothing, but with my Alex, easily gets twins on the first try. That gap—not everyone can handle it."

As one of Alexander's people, she naturally knew about Anthony's condition. The medical report sent to the Watson Group before had been her doing.

So bringing up fertility now, she felt zero pressure.

After glancing at Anthony's nearly frozen face, Flora walked back in her heels, completely satisfied.
