Chapter 114 Gloria and Cassidy in Trouble

Chapter 114 Gloria and Cassidy in Trouble

Gloria?

Arabella was confused. "What does this have to do with me?"

Forget Gloria—she hadn't even seen Rachel in ages.

Rachel said hatefully, "Stop pretending! I know it was you! You found out that Gloria and I kidnapped Cassidy outside your apartment complex, so you had people follow us and hurt us! Arabella, I really didn't realize you were so vicious and despicable!"

Arabella was even more bewildered. There was way too much information in Rachel's words.

She and Gloria kidnapped Cassidy? And right outside her own apartment complex? These completely unrelated people and events—she couldn't connect them at all.

Had Cassidy been following her? Otherwise, why would she appear outside her complex?

But why would Rachel kidnap Cassidy? Weren't they supposed to be best friends? Right after the divorce, Rachel had practically worshipped Cassidy. Had they fallen out so quickly?

A flood of questions rushed through Arabella's mind, but whether it was the Watson family or Gloria, none of it had anything to do with her. She used to be exhausted dealing with all that drama—now she couldn't wait to avoid any connection to it.

So she didn't bother asking what had actually happened, just saying, "Whatever you went through has nothing to do with me. If you really want to seek justice for your good friend, you should use every means to find the real perpetrator, not call an innocent bystander like me to hurl insults and try to pin this on me."

After saying this, she hung up.

It was almost quitting time. Rachel's call didn't leave much of an impression on her, and she went back to focusing on work.

On the other end, Rachel stared at her phone with an ugly expression after being hung up on.

Arabella had hit the nail on the head—she was indeed looking for a scapegoat to take responsibility for what happened to Gloria and bear the Reeves family's wrath.

Because she couldn't handle the consequences herself!

If the Reeves family found out that Gloria hadn't originally wanted to come along, that she'd begged and pleaded with Gloria to accompany her because she was too scared to kidnap Cassidy alone in the middle of the night, they would definitely demand answers from her.

But what had she done wrong? Her mother had told her to arrange Cassidy's kidnapping. She hadn't wanted to do it originally because she knew how much her brother cared about Cassidy—if he found out about this, he'd be furious.

Her mother had threatened her with her marriage prospects, saying, "Rachel, we were all fooled by Cassidy before. Such a restless woman—if she stays with the Watson family, who knows what scandals she'll cause. You're already twenty-four. I started looking for matches for you last year, but back then your sister-in-law was Arabella, which was embarrassing to mention! I thought things would improve with Cassidy, but she's just as unsuitable. Rachel, if you want to marry well, Cassidy is your obstacle. Do you understand?"

Rachel had been forced to agree to her mother's demands.

She'd thought her mother would handle everything and the blame would never reach her.

But unexpectedly, the very night they kidnapped Cassidy, her car was followed. She'd brought Cassidy to a factory in the suburbs and walked right into someone else's trap!

Those people were all thugs—over twenty young men with tattoos, smoking cheap cigarettes, riding modified beat-up motorcycles. If she'd fallen into their hands, they would have destroyed her!

So she'd found a chance to sneak away, leaving Cassidy and Gloria in that factory.

She'd spent the night hiding outside in terror. Only after everyone left the next day did she dare go back to check. As soon as she entered, she saw Gloria huddled in a corner, clothes disheveled, covered head to toe in sticky fluids, filthy and disgusting.

Cassidy was lying on the ground covered in dust and debris, equally dirty, with a pool of blood beneath her, unconscious or possibly dead.

Rachel had been terrified. She was afraid Gloria would realize she'd deliberately escaped, afraid the Reeves family would blame her for what happened. She needed a scapegoat!

That's when she thought of Arabella.

But unexpectedly, Arabella had hung up on her directly.

Still... it didn't matter. She wasn't calling to argue with Arabella anyway—she just wanted Gloria to know that Arabella was responsible for this.

Rachel carefully approached Gloria. Before she even got close, she started sobbing. "Gloria, are you okay? This is all my fault. If I hadn't asked you to come out, you wouldn't have been caught in Arabella's scheme..."

Gloria slowly raised her head, revealing a severely swollen face. Her eyes looked demonic as she stared at Rachel, asking hoarsely, "Where did you... go last night?"

Rachel had already prepared her story and said through tears, "Last night they took me to another place. They wanted to sell me, so I jumped out of the car. I almost died in the wilderness..."

Anyway, those people were gone now—Gloria had no way to verify her story.

Gloria didn't suspect her. During last night's nightmare, she had indeed resented Rachel's absence, but hearing Rachel's explanation now, Gloria gritted her teeth and asked, "It was Arabella?"

Rachel nodded miserably. "It was her. She practically admitted it on the phone just now. We fell right into her trap this time."

Gloria's hands clawed at the ground, her face filled with deep hatred.

Arabella, you bitch! How dare you hurt me!

Then you'll pay with your life to answer to the Reeves family!

Rachel took off her coat and draped it over Gloria, helping tidy her appearance before saying, "Gloria, let's go back. This definitely isn't over. Don't worry—I'll make sure Arabella pays the price!"

Gloria leaned on her as she slowly stood up.

For girls from families like theirs, experiencing something like this was absolutely unmentionable. Once word got out, not only would the woman's reputation be ruined and she'd never be able to hold her head up in high society again, but it would also bring shame to the entire family.

Rachel knew this rule, and so did Gloria.

This was also why Rachel dared to lie to Gloria's face—because no matter what, this matter could never be discussed openly. Even if the Reeves family wanted to pursue it, they could only do so in secret, and most likely it would just be swept under the rug.

Arabella was definitely taking this fall.

Neither of them bothered with Cassidy on the ground. In Rachel's mind, she was already dead.

She'd done what her mother asked—whether Cassidy lived or died had nothing to do with her anymore.

Rachel drove, carefully and discreetly taking Gloria home, being extra careful not to be followed. Only after Gloria entered her house did she breathe a sigh of relief.

Things were finally back on track. Next, it would be Arabella facing the Reeves family's wrath.

She'd heard that Gloria's father was already in talks with the Tucker family. For some reason, the Tucker family also seemed interested in matching Sawyer with Gloria. The Reeves family would definitely keep last night's incident under wraps, so the marriage shouldn't be affected.

Rachel finally relaxed completely and drove home.

Meanwhile, in the suburban factory, not long after Rachel and Gloria left, Cassidy opened her eyes in humiliation, her gaze blood-red.

Last night felt like a nightmare. She could barely bring herself to recall how much abuse she'd endured. And the baby was gone.

But fortunately, she was still alive.

Anthony had that particular hang-up—he wouldn't even look at a woman who wasn't pure. She'd given him her first time, but because she and Sawyer had been filmed in compromising positions, Anthony had been cold to her ever since.

And now, if Anthony found out she'd been violated by so many men last night...

Cassidy didn't need to think to know he would absolutely never look at her again.

If she was lucky, they might maintain this marriage in name only. If unlucky... she might be thrown out entirely.

Cassidy bit down hard on her teeth.

When she was dragged into the van last night, though her eyes were covered, she'd felt the person beside her's wrist. The bracelet on that wrist was Cartier's latest design—a gift she'd recently bought for Rachel after scrimping and saving.

And just now, she'd heard every word of Rachel and Gloria's conversation.

The truth couldn't be clearer—Rachel and Gloria had kidnapped her, but those two bitches hadn't expected to be double-crossed, getting Gloria caught up in it too.

Rachel had no grudge against her, so she wouldn't go through all this trouble just to teach her a lesson. Whoever was behind bringing her here—if last night's incident hadn't happened, she would most likely have lost her life.

Someone who could manipulate Rachel and wanted her dead—Cassidy didn't need to think to know who it was.

Jennifer!

Her eyes flashed with deep hatred.

The mother-in-law she'd treated like her own mother—to make Jennifer happy, she'd worked as both nanny and housekeeper after marriage, exhausting herself completely, yet Jennifer wanted her dead!

She was filled with rage! She wanted to skin Jennifer alive!

She desperately wanted to call Anthony immediately, to tell him how wronged she felt, how devastated and hopeless she was. But she couldn't do that—Anthony absolutely could not know about last night.

She had to cover this up. As for Rachel, there was no evidence anyway—she'd be crazy to admit anything.

She couldn't call the police or an ambulance either—that would make it known throughout the city.

Her lower abdomen hurt terribly, and she couldn't even crawl. She needed someone to help her.

Cassidy reached out with effort, grabbing for her phone nearby, then called Sawyer with trembling hands.

The call was answered quickly. Sawyer's voice was relaxed and cheerful. "Cassie, what made you think to contact me?"

Cassidy's voice was choked with tears, sorrowful and angry. "Sawyer, could you... come pick me up?"

Sawyer's tone immediately became serious. "What happened? Did Anthony bully you?"

"No." Cassidy closed her eyes as tears the size of beans fell. "Sawyer, don't ask questions. If it's convenient for you, just come get me. If not, forget it."

Hearing this, Sawyer quickly said, "It's convenient, I'm free. Where are you? Send me your location—I'll come right away."

Cassidy gave him her location. When Sawyer asked curiously why she was there, Cassidy didn't answer. Instead, she pleaded through tears, "Sawyer, come alone. Don't tell anyone. And bring me some clean clothes, okay?"

On the other end, Sawyer's heart sank. He immediately stopped caring about his father's strict prohibition against seeing Cassidy again and said urgently, "Okay, wait for me. I'm coming right now."

After hanging up, he rushed to buy clothes and drove to the location Cassidy had given.

Because he was so anxious, he arrived in less than half an hour. When he saw Cassidy lying on the ground, disheveled and wretched, he was completely stunned.

Overwhelming heartache spread to every inch of his body. Sawyer knelt in front of Cassidy, heartbroken and in agony, nearly breaking down. "Cassie, what did you go through..."

Actually, Sawyer could tell without Cassidy saying anything.

And with so many traces... it wasn't just one person.

Sawyer was a military man. His eyes immediately turned red as he stood up abruptly, saying viciously, "Who did this? I'll kill them!"

Cassidy cried and grabbed his pant leg.

"Sawyer, please, don't make a scene. I can't handle those consequences..."

Her lower abdomen hurt terribly, her face deathly pale. "Help me, take me to a hospital. Don't let anyone know..."

Sawyer's eyes were full of madness and hatred. He really wanted to drag out whoever did this and teach them a brutal lesson. He had the ability and confidence to do so.

But he had to consider Cassie's situation. She was a girl—so pure, so kind. If this got out, she'd be destroyed by gossip!

He'd always prided himself on being a real man, but in this moment he felt as useless as trash.

He couldn't do anything, absolutely nothing!

After a long while, he finally suppressed the rage in his heart and bent down to pick up Cassidy like she was the most precious treasure in the world. Looking down at her gently, his voice was tender. "Don't be afraid. I'll take you home and have the family doctor treat your injuries. No one will know."

But Cassidy panicked and quickly said, "No need, just take me to a hospital."

She didn't want Anthony to discover that she and Sawyer were secretly meeting alone again.

Sawyer explained, "Hospitals are crowded. Going in like this will definitely attract attention, and doctors will ask for the whole story. They can't give you the privacy you want. Let's go to a property I have in an ordinary complex where no one knows me. It won't attract attention. I'll call the family doctor over to properly treat your wounds. The family doctor is very discreet. Trust me, Cassie—I won't let you be embarrassed."

Cassidy understood he was right. This was the best way to handle it.

Going to a hospital—if exposed, Anthony would immediately know what she'd been through.

She couldn't risk that.

So she nodded at Sawyer. "Then I'll trouble you, Sawyer."

Sawyer smiled. "For you, it's no trouble."

Cassidy wanted to smile shyly, but thinking of her current state, she didn't want to pretend anymore and just kept her head down in silence.

This made Sawyer's heart ache even more. Cassie had always been sweet, innocent, and well-mannered. In the past, hearing such words, she would always respond with something that politely declined while not making him uncomfortable. But today, she said nothing.

How much pain must be in her heart.

Sawyer felt urgent and got Cassidy into the car, quickly leaving the suburban factory.

Half an hour later, the car turned into an inconspicuous complex. Sawyer brought Cassidy into a room and hesitated before saying, "If you're not planning to report this to police, maybe you should wash up first?"

The evidence on her body was too obvious and extensive—he couldn't bear to look for another second.

Cassidy nodded and numbly stood up to go to the bathroom.

When she came out after showering, the family doctor had just arrived.

Sawyer nervously stood guard nearby. Just then, his phone rang. It was Richard's voice, and his anger could be felt even through the phone. "Where did you go? Something happened to the Reeves family. Get back here right now!"
