Chapter 122 You Say He Is Inconceivable

Chapter 122 You Say He Is Inconceivable

David had been desperately waiting to hear that Anthony was dead. The moment he learned something had happened at the sales office involving Anthony, he dragged Theresa along and rushed over.

But when he got there, the first thing he saw was Anthony, alive and kicking.

The shock hit him hard. A startled cry escaped his lips before he could stop it — he'd nearly given himself away. His heart started pounding like crazy.

He cursed silently: Fuck, what the hell is going on? The family sent their best people, and they still couldn't take down Anthony?

"What do you mean? Hahaha —"

Poppy burst out laughing. "Your dear friend Rihanna just got hauled off to the police station. She might even end up behind bars."

"What? Hauled off to the police station? Poppy, stop spreading lies. You can be held legally responsible for that, you know..."

"Legally responsible? Everything she said is the truth. What's there to be responsible for?" Anthony cut in from the side.

His voice was sharp and firm, and he carried himself with an air that made it clear he wasn't someone to be messed with.

"You..."

David had come over to find out what was going on, but now he was so furious his mouth was twitching.

The truth was, the moment he'd seen Anthony standing there perfectly fine, it had already hit him like a gut punch. But his usual arrogance kept the anger burning and wouldn't let him back down.

"Anthony, someone from a nobody family like yours needs to learn how to keep his head down. Otherwise, you might end up dying in a very ugly way."

The warning in David's words couldn't have been clearer. Seething with frustration, he kept pushing.

"Never thought a prison stint would give you such a big head. Don't get too cocky — walk down enough dark roads at night, and sooner or later you'll run into a ghost."

Anthony laughed out loud. "Hahaha, only people who've done terrible things are afraid of running into ghosts at night."

"David, don't you know? I'm the King of Hell — the lord of ghosts. Even if I ran into one, the ghost would be the one running away from me. And if it wasn't fast enough, I'd chop its legs off, evil spirit or not."

Anthony said it with such commanding force that David's body actually flinched.

Something's different. Completely different.

In that moment, David couldn't help but feel it deeply.

The last class reunion had been the first time he and Anthony had crossed paths in three years. From that moment on, he'd sensed something had changed — Anthony felt like a different person, carrying a kind of powerful energy that hadn't been there before.

That look in his eyes seemed to tell the world: even if God himself stood in front of him, Anthony would meet him as an equal. It was confidence that went all the way to the bone.

It had stunned David at the time.

A guy from a third-rate family, a nobody from Colorado, just out of prison after three years — how could someone like that carry that kind of presence?

At the reunion, David had written it off as his imagination.

But now, facing Anthony head-on, he felt that same pressure again. It made him draw a sharp breath.

He considered himself a man who'd seen a lot in this world. If Anthony carried that kind of presence, then those three years in prison were clearly not as simple as they looked.

But still — it was just prison. What could you possibly get out of it? Could sitting in a cell somehow turn you into something extraordinary?

That question gnawed at him and he just couldn't figure it out.

While the two of them stood there at a standoff, a staff member nearby handed Poppy a purchase contract.

"Miss Poppy, this is your purchase agreement. It shows you've paid in full for the luxury suite."

"What — paid in full? And it's the luxury suite?"

Theresa's eyes went wide, her face full of disbelief.

"You?"

Feeling the sharp edge of Theresa's contempt, Poppy's temper flared. Theresa had always looked down on her growing up, backed by her family's money. But now, with Anthony in her corner, she finally had her moment.

That thought made Poppy stand up a little straighter. "What, you have a problem with that?"

Seeing Poppy's confident look sent Theresa into a quiet rage. Since when did this girl from a poor family dare to talk to her like that?

"How dare you! Poppy, everyone knows your family is completely broke — broke to the core. Don't think I don't know you and your dad are crammed into some tiny dark apartment. A family like yours buying a place here? That's pure fantasy."

When it came to real estate, Theresa was on solid ground. These luxury suites weren't something just anyone could afford. When the saleswoman had said Poppy bought one, Theresa hadn't believed it for a second.

Now, fueled by anger, she went straight for Poppy's throat.

But the saleswoman nearby stepped in with a calm smile.

"I'm sorry, miss, but you're wrong. This luxury suite is the crown jewel of our entire development — and as it happens, this young lady is the one who bought it."

The saleswoman said it pleasantly, handing the payment contract over to Poppy.

Poppy smiled and nodded, reaching out to take it.

The whole sequence landed like a clean combination of punches, slapping Theresa right across the face.

The look on Theresa's face in that moment went beyond shock — there wasn't a word for it. Her mouth twitched as she sputtered out loud.

"This — this can't be real. This is... unbelievable."

"Unbelievable?" The saleswoman smiled. "Actually, the truly unbelievable one is this male classmate of yours."

She still had a look of awe on her face as she said it. She herself hadn't expected Isabelle to just hand this guy an entire apartment earlier. And then — most unbelievably — he'd turned around and given it to the girl beside him. On top of that, from what she could tell, he'd already given the girl twenty million before that. Add it all up — how much was that?

Honestly, in that moment, the saleswoman envied Poppy more than she could say.

When she saw someone taking a shot at Poppy, she stepped in without a second thought.

Theresa watched the saleswoman point toward Anthony and couldn't hold back a loud laugh.

"Haha, if you weren't in that work uniform, I'd think the circus sent over a clown — you're calling him unbelievable?"

"That's right, he's unbelievable alright. Fresh out of three years in prison, and he took the fall for someone else. I guess you mean he's unbelievably stupid? Hahaha —"

The words barely left her mouth before Theresa was already cracking up at her own joke.

"That's hilarious. I can't even."

The saleswoman had just pointed at Anthony with this look of total admiration on her face and practically gushed that he was the unbelievable one — please.

Theresa's contempt for Anthony ran so deep she couldn't stand hearing a single kind word said about him from anyone. And right now, it only made her laugh louder and more freely than ever.
