Requesting the divorce
**SOPHIE MADSON**
The red dress clung to my body, reaching just above the knees, giving off a sexy yet elegant vibe. My hair was sleek and loose, and I wore black high-heeled sandals with thin straps. I grabbed my purse and left the room, heading towards the house exit to make one of the hardest decisions of my life.
"Are you sure about what you're going to do?" Liam appears in my path.
"As much as my heart wanted something else, now everything is different. I don't deny that it hurts, but what hurts more is everything I've been through because of it."
He doesn't say anything else and lets me leave immediately. I take one of the cars he makes available and drive to the Wolker's house. When I get out, I look at that huge mansion, knowing it will be my last time there.
I enter the place, and one of the receptionists is ready to ask if I need anything. I am hesitant, as the last few times I was there were to cause extreme confusion. I simply ask for her boss, and she directs me to the office. I thank her and head there.
I take a deep breath when I stand in front of that large wooden door. Now, I would have to set aside the devastated, hurt, and humiliated Sophie to make room for the needed armor. I don't knock; I enter right away, and Steven sits behind the desk with his back to me. When he hears the noise, he turns immediately. He was on the phone and threw it on the table immediately, looking at me in surprise.
"Sophie, I'm glad you came. I've called you several times. Why aren't you at home?"
"I want a divorce!"
I say it all at once, and he stops; I swear he didn't even blink. He looks at me in shock, and I open my purse, take out the papers, walk to the table, and place them in front of him.
"Here they are; sign them because I already did."
"Sophie, let's talk. I know everything could be clearer. I know I'm not being your best person, but I..."
Those words were painful and exhausting because I only wanted him to end it. There's no point in listening and then, after five minutes, seeing him defend that miserable unstable woman. She would be a ghost, a disturbing presence I didn't want around me.
"We've had plenty of time to talk, but you were more concerned with your beloved and innocent Nathaly. Sign!"
He looks at the papers. I see him trembling nervously, and I'm surprised when he tears them apart with all the anger within him, making them into pieces. I didn't express any reaction, as it was something I could already expect. I take out more papers from my bag and place them on the table again.
"Here's another one. You can tear a thousand of them if you want. I have an unlimited number."
Knowing that the conversation wouldn't lead anywhere; on the contrary, it would only further inflame our tempers, I turned around. He rushes to me, grabbing my arm and making me sit in the chair. He holds me in place, placing his hands on each side of it, bringing his face close to mine, panting and trembling.
"Did you ever love me? Do you feel anything for me? Answer... please!"
I could swear his eyes were watery, his appearance disheveled, showing that he was more lost than ever, but that shouldn't be my concern.
"This was all an agreement, you become president and I save my mother. It was a show for all the viewers, but it's over. My mother died, and I don't need you for medical resources," I try to stand up as quickly as possible.
He takes two steps back, dazed and without taking his eyes off me as if he were assimilating everything happening.
"Oh, and by the way, you've already found your great love. Be happy with... her!" I grimace.
I turn my back again, but I feel him pull my body forcefully, causing me to collide with his. He holds my waist with one hand and the other on the back of my neck. I try to push away, but it's useless compared to his strength. That's when his lips pressed against mine, forcing a kiss, and even though I missed it, I was still full of anger, so I ended up biting his lower lip hard. He screams and takes a few steps back, running his hand over his lips, which were lightly bleeding.
"Don't you dare do that again!" I shout.
"Forgive me, let's try to get everything back together... don't do this; I don't believe you never loved me; you do feel something for me."
"Don't make me hate you even more!"
Then I quickly left, slamming the door and taking a deep breath, holding back the tears that wanted to come out. But I promised myself I would hold back the tears as much as possible and not give anyone the satisfaction.

**STEVEN WOLKER'S POV**
Seeing that stunning and intelligent woman in front of me, beautifully dressed and full of herself now, made me feel very bad. I was a jerk for letting that preciousness slip through my fingers for nothing. I put my hands to my head in despair. Tears that fell timidly before were now like a river, flowing down my face involuntarily.
"Sophie, no..."
I speak to myself, pacing back and forth. I keep myself as calm as possible to make the right decision. I had to set her free, just as she did with me. If she is meant to be mine... she will be, even though my expectations are minimal.
I look at those papers and decide to sign them to end this cycle once and for all. I didn't want to do this, but I would do anything if it meant giving her a little peace in her life. I pick up the pen, and before I evaluate those words, my vision becomes blurry as I read them all, so I sign at once. Now, I would have to have someone send them because I am devastated enough for that.
Tears roll down my cheeks, and I rest my head in my hands, completely incapable, weak, and foolish. Everything would have been so different if I had known what to do and remembered my real responsibilities to each other.
