The tragedy happens
**SOPHIE MADSON’S POV**
When he left, I felt relieved, as I didn't want to deal with any more jealousy crises. With my mother sick, my father despicable, a difficult pregnancy, and a husband with amnesia, it already left me incredibly overwhelmed; now, I had to endure Steven's excessive jealousy as well.
I look at the multitude of responsibilities to be done, but my head is so clouded that I can't focus on anything there. Then my secretary approached me, and I looked at the girl approaching the desk attentively.
"Ma'am, Miss Ross requests your presence," she states.
"Who is Miss Ross?" I ask, confused.
"That's the description she gave. I don't have any more details, ma'am, but she's waiting. She said it's a grave matter."
There were so many conflicting pieces of information; why was she waiting for me outside? I'm confused, and since I'm in the company, which is a completely secure place, I have no reason to be afraid, even more so in the hallway outside my office. I leave the room towards the corridor and observe the tall woman with her back to me; I already know who it is, and I stop a short distance from her, crossing my arms and rolling my eyes.
"You must be joking. What do you want?" I ask.
"Do you know where my fiancé is? I've looked for him everywhere," she says sarcastically.
I take a deep breath; hearing those words from her fills me with tremendous anger. I didn't understand their crazy relationship; while he claimed to love her, he kept his distance, and she made sure to show her discontent to everyone she knew. I ended up finding out about it, too.
I know it's very complex to deal with Steven now. His mind was a mess; at times, he seemed to love her, and at others, he was in love with me, and this would persist until he possibly regained his memory, but it was unpredictable, and I couldn't bear this wait anymore, even thinking about giving up.
"He had a jealous fit with me and stormed off. I don't know where he is."
"He doesn't care!!" she says, irritated.
"About you? No... definitely not!"
When I say that, I notice her expression change from sarcastic to enraged. That's exactly what I wanted, to remove that air of superiority she had. I let it pass, waiting for him to remember, but it was taking an unbearable turn.
"You enjoy this, don't you? Enjoy provoking men to chase after you like cat and mouse, big deal."
Those words didn't help, so I turned away when she ran, standing in front of me and looking straight into my eyes, now just a few inches away. She hates me so much that I can see it through her gaze.
"Steven is mine!" she says.
"He belongs to no one; he is free to choose who he loves."
"What he feels for you is just a need for attention. You took advantage of his most vulnerable moment," she insinuates.
"Are you sure you're talking about me? Or aren't you talking about yourself? Because it's you who should be locked up instead."
I hear her words, but I don't let myself be affected because I know how much he loved me, and I never saw him in a vulnerable moment; quite the contrary, he was decisive and knew precisely what he wanted. When he was with me, we built a solid relationship, and he took the first step for us to live that love.
But she blocks my entry, getting closer and closer to my face so as not to touch hers. I see her take a few steps back; she doesn't divert her eyes from mine, and I notice that some people are walking around there nonchalantly; she is very clever and acts with smiles, showing that nothing out of the ordinary is happening there.
"You shouldn't have shown up!" she asserts.
"But I did, and he fell in love because of me. I didn't have to do anything for that while you beg for love; you'll never be happy even if you marry him."
"Are you pregnant?"
"How do you know?" I'm surprised.
"I know everything, dear; I didn't lose my memory... he did. I remember everything," she says carelessly.
"I take back what I said; you shouldn't be locked up. You should be in a psychiatric clinic."
When I realize it, I'm at the edge of the emergency staircase next to the elevator. I look back and notice how cleverly and treacherously she led me there, so I step to the side to dodge. But I can't explain how everything happened so quickly. I understand now; she involved me in her words, making me ignore where she led me.
She looks at the staircase and turns in a way that makes it seem like she is facing away from it, and I'm facing her on the stairs. She looks at me, a very malicious smile given, and then surprisingly, the expression of fear appears on her face for no apparent reason, and then she starts screaming.
"DON'T DO THIS, SOPHIE, IT'S NOT MY FAULT!"
I looked at her, baffled. She was going crazy once and for all because I couldn't understand anything she was saying.
"Girl, are you going crazy?" I try to disguise myself.
"WHY WON'T YOU LEAVE ME ALONE?"
I looked around, and it was starting to attract everyone's attention; without waiting, I felt her hands grab mine, and I tried to break free, starting to feel distressed.
"Please, don't!" she says."
So then I see her stumble, my eyes widen, and I try to grab her arm, but she holds on tight, causing me to fall alongside her. The steps of the staircase were high, and I felt my body tumble down; everything happened so fast that I felt nothing as I fell, but when I reached the curve at the bottom, I stopped, and the pain was so intense that I screamed. She was close by, with a cut on the side of her arm that must have been caused by something unidentified.
I put my hand to my stomach and scream, writhing and twisting my body. Tears stream down my face; they're of pain, desperation, and fear. So much fear! Even though my legs won't obey, I support myself with my hands on the ground, gritting my teeth between groans. Everyone upstairs is scared, but I couldn't care less, exerting every effort to stand up.
"Help me!!!" I'm desperate. Sally was off-duty. I know someone considering coming down but is stopped by someone else claiming to wait for help to avoid responsibility.

**STEVEN WOLKER’S POV**
The commute took much longer than usual to start flowing, all because of a not-so-serious accident that blocked the road for almost an hour. During this time, I called her numerous times, but nothing. Her phone was unreachable. I was so nervous that I didn't think of other ways to contact her.
I rushed into the company to make sure everything was okay. When I reached the floor where Sophie always was, and the elevator opened, I saw many people looking down the stairs, desperate and curious.
"Get out!" I shout. They were blocking the way, and when I finally reached the first step and looked down, Sophie was trying to stand up while Nathaly was left in the corner. It was the most terrifying scene I've ever seen in my life, and it got even worse when I noticed a lot of blood flowing between her legs. My heart races, and I rush down the stairs, desperate.
"Call an ambulance! Move!!" Then, most of them scatter in panic as I hold Sophie in my arms. She screams, and my heart races even faster.
"My son, my baby!! Owww..." She cries a lot.
"It will be okay; everything will be fine." I tried to comfort her but to be honest, deep down in my heart, I felt that the worst was happening. A lot of blood was gushing out of her in extreme bleeding, staining the floor and her clothes.
When I look at Nathaly, she is lying down, and I don't know if she's unconscious, but her arm is bleeding a little. I feel overwhelmed and scared.
"I'm going to die; it hurts so much... my God!"
"YOU'RE NOT!" I shout desperately.
I look at everyone there; I lay her on the ground to keep her lying down because if I move her too much, it could make things worse, but what she needed was to be immobilized.
I hear murmurs of people blaming and speculating about what happened, but I'm not considering any of that. I try to talk to her to hold on until the doctors arrive, and I'm shocked by the amount of blood coming out of her.
The medical team arrives and performs emergency first aid, immobilizing her to control what's happening.
"Is she going to be okay? Will the baby be okay? Say something." I shout desperately.
"We can't answer that right now, sir. Please, come with us!"
