Chapter 239 Do You Still Think I’m Your Son?
Susan coaxed him a couple more times before the little guy finally cheered up. He grabbed her hand and said he wanted lots of tomato noodles.
After calming the kid, Susan glanced back at Sean. He was still standing there, eyes fixed on her, clearly waiting for his turn to be coaxed too.
Susan couldn't help smiling a little.
Sean saw her grin and walked over to tug her wrist. "What are you laughing at?"
"Nothing." Susan tried to hide the smile in her eyes but failed. "Just thought of something funny."
Sean looked confused and wanted to ask more, but Susan had already turned away to call for takeout.
He sat by the bed and watched Liam sprawled out playing with puzzles, then looked at Susan's back. The sulky feeling in his chest had already faded away.
He leaned back in the chair, lips curving up without him noticing.
Liam finished a puzzle piece, looked up, saw him smiling, and tilted his head. "Dad, you were mad just now, why are you smiling now? Are you sick?"
Sean's face went blank and he reached out to mess up Liam's hair. "Don't guess nonsense, kid. Get back to your puzzle."
"You always look down on kids. Next time you make Mom mad, I won't help you." Liam snorted and turned back to his puzzle.
Susan hung up the phone and turned around just in time to see this. She couldn't help laughing again.
She walked over and joined Liam with the puzzle.
Sean sat in the chair behind her, watching her lean sideways to play with Liam while tapping his knee lightly with his fingers.
When Liam got tired, yawned, and lay down to sleep, Sean tugged Susan's sleeve.
"What were you laughing at earlier?" he asked in a low voice, eyes full of curiosity.
Susan glanced at him, then at Liam sleeping soundly on the bed, stood up, and pulled him out to the balcony.
A cool late-summer breeze blew in, lifting the loose strands of hair near Susan's ears.
"I just felt..." She paused, smiling. "You and Liam act exactly the same when you're sulking. It's like I raised two sons."
Sean froze, then stepped forward and trapped her between the railing and himself, hands braced on either side of her.
"Sons?" He leaned in close, nose almost touching her forehead, voice carrying a hint of warning. "Say that again?"
"That's what it is." Susan looked up at him without fear and even poked his cheek. "Look at you, throwing a fit like a kid and needing to be coaxed. How's that any different from Liam?"
Sean stared at her bright eyes, said nothing, and just lowered his head to kiss her.
The kiss felt a bit punishing but was still gentle.
He nibbled her lower lip, slid his tongue in, and kissed her deeply and slowly.
Susan clutched his shirt, her breathing turning uneven as she tried to keep up.
When it ended, Sean rested his forehead against hers, voice low and rough. "Still think I'm your son?"
Susan panted, cheeks flushed, and glared at him. "This is a hospital. Can you act normal? What if someone sees?"
"Around you, I never planned to act normal." Sean smiled and pulled her into his arms. "Once Liam's test results come back, we'll go home and I'll settle things with you."
Susan leaned against his chest, listening to his steady heartbeat, and didn't answer, but her lips curved up.
An hour later, the doctor came by and said Liam was doing well but needed regular checkups.
Liam got so excited he almost jumped off the bed. Susan had to hold him down while he kept saying he wanted to go back to the amusement park for the roller coaster.
They got home after eight at night.
Liam was fast asleep, breathing deep and even, his little face pink.
Sean turned off the car, walked around to open Susan's door, and took the sleeping Liam from her arms. The two of them walked into the building together.
From the moment they stepped into the elevator, Sean's eyes stayed on Susan, growing heavier.
As soon as the doors opened, he carried Liam inside with one hand, unlocked the door, put the boy in his own bed, then grabbed Susan when she followed.
He didn't give her time to react and pulled her straight into a deep kiss.
Susan gasped and pushed at him on instinct, but he held her waist and drew her closer.
His kiss was urgent, moving from her lips down to her jaw and neck, warm breath making her skin tingle.
"Stop... let's go to the room... don't wake the kid..." Susan pushed him, breathless.
Sean stayed quiet, opened the bedroom door by feel, carried her inside, and kicked it shut.
Susan was kissed dizzy and could only wrap her arms around his neck, letting him take over.
Sean pressed down on her, kissing hard and deep, making wet sounds now and then. He worked his way down and bit her neck.
Susan hissed and smacked him. "Are you a dog?"
"Still think I'm your son?" He propped himself up, looking down at her, fingers brushing her flushed cheek, tone teasing.
"No." Susan turned her face away, ears burning, voice small. "Sean, I'm tired. Can we just rest?"
"Rest is fine." Sean kissed the corner of her eye. "But I've missed years, so I need to collect some interest first."
He kissed her again, gentle but firm.
The moonlight outside was blocked by clouds, and the room grew warmer.
Susan could respond at first, but soon her mind went hazy and she could only follow his rhythm. She didn't even notice when she fell asleep.
She had no idea how much time passed. Susan was so exhausted she couldn't lift a finger, eyelids heavy as lead.
Dazed, she pushed at Sean, voice hoarse. "No, I need to sleep..."
