Heading To Greece

Our wedding is in two months, and I cannot wait for that day to finally arrive. About a week before my wedding, Lisa and I saw Heather and a group of girls in a wedding boutique in the city. I had forgotten entirely about her crazy ass. We still have the restraining orders against her, so we decided to leave since she was in the store first. That didn’t stop the crazy bitch from running her mouth. “ I see Kyle hasn’t married your insignificant ass yet. I knew he was using you to pass the time.” Seriously, she needs to be medicated and put in a padded room. The people around her should stop encouraging her crazy, demented behavior. We chose to ignore her and continued on our way. She is unimportant, and I will not waste my time by giving her any validation.

Our wedding party was leaving for Greece in two days, and I refused to let anyone steal my joy, so fuck Heather and her crazy ass. We chartered a Boeing 747 airplane to carry all our guests to Greece. It was a party plane. Everyone was in good spirits and was looking forward to a great weekend in such a beautiful place. That first night, once everyone got settled in their rooms. We had pre-booked the entire restaurant for that night to host a dinner party for everyone invited to our wedding. A live band with an open bar and a plated five-course meal was available. The views of the surrounding area and the sky from the cliffside restaurant were terrific. Our guests couldn’t stop talking about how beautiful the night sky was.

We invited over two hundred guests, mostly family and friends of the Grants. I invited my grandmother and aunt from my mother’s side to my wedding. I haven’t seen them in a few years, but we usually talk on the phone occasionally. So, I was thrilled that they would be able to make it and share in my joy. Being there also makes me feel like my mom is here. Seeing them makes me feel guilty because it has been such a long time since I visited them. I promised myself that I would start spending more time with them. I also want Kyle to get to know them and about my Jamaican heritage.

I made sure to include them in everything we did because I didn’t want them to feel left out. The following morning, after breakfast, we had four large tour buses waiting for us at the front of the hotel. We wanted to treat everyone to an excellent tour of the island, and for lunch, we would have a picnic in a park close to the beach. It was a beautiful day for everything we had planned, and everyone smiled. I ensured my grandmother and aunt were on the same bus as Kyle and me. We took many pictures on the bus to ensure we captured every moment of that day. The bus was lively because people told jokes and crazy stories that kept everyone laughing.

The island wasn’t huge, but everything about it was unique. No matter where we were on the island, we had views of neighboring islands and landmarks. They have some of the most beautiful beaches in the world with pristine white sand that feels like power under our feet. The color and clarity of the water were unbelievable, to the point that it looked fake. The hotel sent a catering truck with all the food and drinks we needed for our picnic. They set up several tables with different food stations. To name a few stations, we had seafood, steak, and BBQ with unlimited amounts of food. We also had a traveling bar for those who wanted to start drinking early.

We had the hotel set of games and different activities to do while we were having our picnic. Our group of six was playing volleyball in the ocean. There were people playing horseshoes in the sand on the beach. At the same time, others were playing different board games. There was never a dull moment; everyone was friendly, and we all had a great time. Around four o’clock, we loaded the buses so we could head back to the hotel to rest because tomorrow was our big day. After waiting for two years for this day, I feel like I can’t wait another minute. The girls were laughing at me because I kept looking at my watch. “ Kadian, no matter how often you look at your watch, the time will still go slow,” said Karen. Everyone at the table started laughing, including me.

The hotel wasn’t huge, and since we had over two hundred people with us, we booked the entire hotel for four days. This way, everyone would be together, making our weekend plans effortless and drama-free. Everyone was allowed to do whatever they wanted that night because we had already spent the day together. Plus, some older people might be tired or have jet lag from the day before. Our group sat at the cliffside restaurant, enjoying dinner and discussing our first New York summer. We were talking and laughing about some of the crazy and silly stuff that happened that summer when we heard shouting coming from inside the building. We were a little taken aback because none of our guests were that kind of people, and there shouldn't be any other guests here.

We all got up and headed inside to make sure everything was okay. When we entered the building, the shouting got louder, and we could tell it was a group of women arguing. When we got closer to the front desk, Lisa was ahead of me and said, “You’ve got to be fucking kidding me” Her statement piqued my curiosity, so I stepped in front of Kyle, and that was when I saw Heather and her friends live and in living color. They were arguing with the front desk staff about booking rooms. The young lady at the desk told them that the hotel was closed for a private event, but was unacceptable to Heather and her minions. She threatened the young lady by saying she would sue the hotel for refusing to serve her. The group of us just stood there with our mouths wide open, staring at them. What are the odds they’re on the same island and hotel where we are having our wedding?
