Chapter 141: Camera that captured them
LSD sat alone in the dimly lit room of his small apartment, the faint hum of the city outside barely penetrating the thick curtains drawn shut. The only light came from the computer screen and the soft glow of a desk lamp, illuminating the photos he’d just transferred from Vill’s camera.
He had expected the usual, sporadic shots of Coco and Roy, maybe a few candid moments, some evidence of Vill’s surveillance. What he found, however, was far more deliberate.
He clicked through the images one by one, zooming in, checking timestamps, comparing angles. Each picture was methodically captured, each moment carefully chosen. Vill hadn’t just been stalking Coco on a whim or out of jealousy. No, not at all.
This was a well planned operation. Weeks’ worth of surveillance, timed perfectly, angles chosen to catch the most compromising moments, metadata embedded that revealed much more than the images themselves.
LSD leaned back, rubbing his chin, piecing it together in his mind. “This isn’t just about loyalty,” he muttered. “This is a setup. Vill wants Coco out.”
He knew Vill too well to believe otherwise. Vill wasn’t the type to take unnecessary risks, especially with something this sensitive. Someone had sent him with clear orders. Someone who wanted Coco trapped, discredited, or worse.
His phone buzzed sharply against the desk. He glanced at the screen, it was Coco. He answered immediately.
“LSD,” she said, voice calm but edged with exhaustion. “What’s good?”
“I’ve gone through the photos,” he replied. “It’s deeper than we thought. Vill’s been tracking you for weeks. It’s not just personal; it’s strategic. He wants you out permanently.”
Coco exhaled heavily. “Good work. Well done.”
There was a pause before she spoke again. “I’m outside Roy’s mansion. Can you come? We need to talk, review everything together.”
“I’m on my way.”
Outside Roy’s mansion, Coco waited by the curb, the evening breeze tugging at her coat as she scanned the street. LSD pulled up in his car, his expression serious. She climbed in without hesitation, shutting the door behind her.
The interior smelled faintly of leather and cigarettes, a stark contrast to the tense atmosphere between them.
LSD handed her the camera. “Here. Take a look.”
She turned it over in her hands, then opened the memory card on the laptop he had brought. Images filled the screen: close-ups, wide shots, candid glances, all captured with unnerving precision.
“This goes way beyond Vill,” LSD said. “Someone is setting you up to fall hard.”
Coco nodded slowly, absorbing every detail. “They want to paint me as the villain in my father’s story. That way, when things fall apart, they have the perfect excuse.”
LSD pointed to a series of timestamps clustered around the early mornings. “See here? These aren’t random. Someone planned this, knowing your movements.”
She looked up, her eyes sharp. “We need to be smarter.”
Suddenly, her phone rang again. She glanced at the screen, it was Jeremy, her assistant.
She answered, her tone softening. “Jeremy, what’s up?”
“Ma, just checking in. How are things?”
Coco smiled faintly. “I’m fine. Actually, I need you to take a month off. Vacation leave. Don’t argue. After all, Chief fired me. So please take a break off. Take your girlfriend somewhere nice and fuck her real good. I’ll send you some money.”
There was a moment of stunned silence on the other end.
“Are you serious?”
“Completely. Take care of yourself. Don’t call me unless it’s an emergency.”
Jeremy laughed nervously. “Alright, ma. If you say so. Thank you very much. I appreciate you.”
Coco ended the call and looked out the window, the city lights reflecting in her eyes.
LSD caught her gaze. “Ready to go back inside?”
She nodded. “Go back to work and stay focused.”
“Is Roy still our enemy?” LSD asked.
Coco paused for a while thinking about it. “I don’t know for now. Just focus on Vill and Georgiana, something tells me they are a team.”
LSD nodded. “Alright boss. Stay safe. Call me if anything goes wrong.”
Coco stared at the road for long. “Nothing will go wrong. I’ve got my shit together.”
“Yes ma’am.”
Coco stepped out of the car and walked toward the mansion.
LSD watched her go before he turned and drove off. “I’ve got a bigger fish to fry.”
