Chapter 31

Angelo

I left Vivianna sleeping in her room a few hours ago. I didn’t want to leave her, but I didn’t want Matteo finding me in her bed. I wanted to be the one to tell him I was with his sister. I passed by Vito and narrowed my eyes. I gave him a ‘keep your mouth shut’ look. As I passed through the room, I spotted Ivana and Mileena smirking in my direction.

Did they know about me and Vivianna?

Ivana approached me and whispered, “There’s only so much me and Mileena can do to distract him.”

I scoffed. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Everyone knows you’re fucking Matteo’s sister. Everyone but him, and when he finds out—it’s going to be chaos.”

“You’re pushing it, Ivana.” I ground out, clenching my jaw.

“I’m not trying to threaten you. I’m only trying to tell you to tell him. Tell him before someone else does. It won’t end well.”

“I—”

“Please, tell him soon. There’s only so much we can do without raising suspicion. We’ll do what we can, but you know how Matteo is. He’s—very protective of his sister.”

“Okay, you’re right. I’ll tell him tonight. You know, you’re good for Matteo. You and Mileena both are. Even if I don’t understand why he wants two women, I do hope you guys work out.”

“Good luck, Angelo. For the record, I totally ship you and Vivianna.”

The rest of the day, Matteo was nowhere in sight. I wasn’t scared of Matteo. I was afraid of his reaction. There no denying that I was in love with Vivianna. Just as I looked up, Vivianna strolled in wearing next to nothing. Her dress was much too short and that cleavage.

Holy shit!

This girl was literally trying to kill me. She met my gaze, a small smirk at the corner of her mouth.

I clenched my jaw, feeling of rage flared in the pit of my stomach. A feeling of possessiveness overcame me as she swayed her hips as she walked towards me. Vivianna placed her hand on my forearm and whispered, “Do you like my dress?”

“No!” I hissed, “I want you to go change. Now.”

“But I wore it just for you.”

“Vivianna, I’m warning you.”

She smiled, her eyes flashed a hint of amusement. “I know you like my dress, but I’ll let that slide.”

“Vivianna, if you don’t go change, I’m going to make you change myself.”

“You promise?”

“I do. I also promise if I do have to do that, I’ll make sure I blister your ass.”

“I look forward to it, Angelo.”

“You better go change right now.”

“Okay, Daddy.”

“Don’t say that out loud. Not here where your brother could pop up at any time.”

“Relax, I’m going now. I just wanted to show you what I’ll be wearing when I dance for you.”

Fuck.

She’s really not making this easy for me.

“Go. Matteo and I are supposed to have a meeting.”

“Are you—”

“Yes. Please, just let me do this and by morning everything will be fine.”

I glanced at my watch an hour later and still no Matteo. Ivana stumbled into my office with a tear-stained face. “Angelo, it’s Matteo—he—”

“Slow down and take a deep breath. What happened?”

“He-he's not picking up his cell and I haven’t heard from him all day.”

“Dammit, Matteo.” I cursed under my breath.

“Please, Angelo. I don’t know what to do. I haven’t told anyone. I didn’t even tell Mileena and oh god, I lied to Vivianna when she asked about him today.”

“Okay, Ivana. This is what I need you to do. Go lie down and rest. I’ll find him.”

I searched the entire city and nothing. I checked all his usual hangouts but came up with nothing. I glanced at the last club and sighed. “Please, be in here.”

I pushed my way through the door and spotted Matteo at the corner of the club. I stormed across the club and hissed, “Matteo!”

He slowly raised his head and glared. “Look who it is? The mother fucker banging my sister.”

“Matteo, I was going—”

“Going to tell me. What exactly were you going to tell me?! Hey man, I been giving it to your sister real good, and she calls me Daddy.”

I frowned, “You’re drunk.”

Matteo scoffed, “Ya think?!”

“Who told you?” I whispered.

“Nobody!” Matteo screamed, smashing an empty beer bottle. “I’m a fucking fool, and right under my nose. Really?!”

“Matteo, put down the bottle. Let’s talk.”

“Sure, let’s talk. Tell me how long?”

“I love her.”

“How fucking long have you been banging my sister?!”

“Since Russia,” I muttered, not being able to look him in the eye.

“I’m sorry, but it sounded like you said since I left for Russian. You know the job you sent me away on. Did you actually need me to do that, or was it to keep me away?”

“Matteo, I never planned for any of this to happen. Believe me, I never intended to fall for her.”

“Okay, since you know her so well, did you know Vito kissed her?”

“He did what?!”

“That’s right, boss. He. Fucking. Kissed. Her.”

“I’ll fucking kill him,” I whispered.

“No. You don’t get to do that. You don’t get to—” Matteo slurred as he staggered towards me.

I caught him before he could fall on his face and sighed. So much for coming clean. I threw him in the SUV and drove back to the estate. I slung his shoulder over mine and dragged him into the estate. Ivana jerked her head with a shocked expression as I helped Matteo inside. I took him to his room and threw him on the bed. When I turned to Ivana, I whispered. “He already knew.”

“Matteo knew? How?”

“I don’t’ know, but I intend to find out who told him. I wanted to be the one to tell him. Just… take care of him. He’s going to be hungover in the morning.”

I walked into my room to find Vivianna fast asleep on my bed. Without hesitating, I slid in behind her and snuggled next to her. Not caring if someone walked in. I kissed her neck and whispered. “I’m so sorry, sweetheart. I tried—I really did.”

Matteo

The throb in my head pounded harder as I opened my eyes. I squinted, not fully aware of where I was. I rolled to my right to see Ivana curled up into a ball.

What the fuck did I do?

What happened last night?

I craned my head, looking to the left to see an empty space.

Where the hell was Mileena?

Ivana turned and smiled sadly. Her hair was a mess, and her mascara had been smeared.

“You’ve been crying,” I whispered.

Did I cause this?

She reached out and brushed her fingers against my cheek. “Matteo…”

“Ivana, w-what happened last night?” I croaked out.

She frowned, “You don’t’ remember?”

“I—no. Fuck, did I hurt you? Hurt Mileena?”

“No, my love, you didn’t hurt anybody. You really don’t remember anything?”

“Tell me what happened.”

“Angelo found you down at the club. You were wasted out of your mind.”

“Where’s Mileena?”

“She’s downstairs getting your breakfast.”

I blinked.

A flash from last night ran through my head.

I was at the club.

Drunk and angry.

Raging mad.

There was no Ivana or Mileena.

No Angelo.

I was alone.

Ivana laid her head on my chest and asked. “Are you okay?”

I sighed, “I’m fine.”

I wasn’t okay.

There were missing pieces I needed to figure out.

So many gaps from last night erased from my memory.

If Angelo found me, then he had the answers.

I needed to talk to him.

I turned to Ivana and said, “I have to go. I need to talk to Angelo.”
