Chapter 81 Meeting Mr Moses

Chapter 81 Meeting Mr Moses
Lana's POV

There was a knock on the front door when I just got dressed. I was annoyed with Arden because of last night. He could've left me a text, but I do understand that he has a lot to deal with. I hurried to the front door and opened it. My friend was standing there with a bright smile on her face.

"Shouldn't you be in class or working today?" I asked Cynthia.

"Nope, I have the day off. " She said as she barged inside of my apartment. She was more chirpy than before.

I closed the door behind her. Turning around, I knew why she could be so chirpy. " What got you so happy today?" I asked.

"Nothing much, just..." she lets out a sigh as she plops down on the sofa. "My boss brought me home last night. Just had last minute things to do at the office, so I went and I had every excuse to be there."

"I don't think that it's a good idea to let him take you home," I said, trying to be careful.

"Lana, you weren't careful with Arden...so I'm fine, he is not a professor, he is the CEO," she said.

"I still want you to be careful. Has anything happened besides just work?" I asked.

"Well, we almost kissed last night but someone disturbed us at the office, but nothing happened at my apartment either. It's like he sees me and wants me, but he isn't really making a move. I see how he looks at the other women, especially those that work there. I can't help but think there is something going on between him and his assistant. She is blonde, and very pretty. Perhaps I'm not up to that standard," she said with sadness. I was happy that she was starting to open up to me about it.

"All the more reason for you to stay away from him, he will break your heart. I know this because Arden and his sister told me things about him and Mr Moses hasn't been a great person, especially to his own children. He used them to get what he wanted," I said.

"I just want the excitement," she replied. My phone chimed and I took it from the coffee table. It was a text from Arden.

Arden: We are inviting to dinner at my father's place tonight. I will pick you up at 6:30pm. Wear something comfortable.

This was too soon. But I cannot avoid this and now my heart is beating at a rapid pace. I am strong and I can do this. "Are you okay?" Cynthia asked.

"Yeah, just a text from Arden. We are having dinner with Mr Moses tonight," I said.

I typed a quick reply to Arden: See you then.

I placed my phone on the coffee table again. "Well, seem that you will be family, let's see what outfits there are," she got up from the sofa and walked down the hall and into my bedroom. I followed after her.

She opened my cupboard and started going through my dresses. "You do know that I can dress myself. I don't need assistance," I said, as she turned around with a black dress in her hand.

"This will do. It makes you look pretty." She said as she gave it to me and black heels.

"Fine." It was a black wrap dress, the length is mid thigh, but it is long sleeved and it flares from my waist. So, technically, it was a comfortable dress to wear. At least she didn't look for the shortest dress that would call inappropriate.

Arden and I, along with Miranda, walked up the steps to the front door of Mr Moses' house. It was huge. Does he live here alone in this huge place? But I must say that it's beautiful. The driveway is huge with a garden. The trees surround the houses.

Arden knocked on the door, he held my hand. I was nervous for some reason. "This should be great. I hope no arguments this time," Miranda said. Do they always have arguments at dinner?

The door opened and my breath hitched. There Mr Moses stood. The man was breathtakingly handsome, with chiseled features and piercing magnetic blue eyes that seemed to draw women in like a magnet...drawing me in like a magnet. His magnetic blue eyes seemed to hold a power over me that I cannot explain, and I find myself unable to resist the pull, unable to look away from him. I knew that I was in danger of getting too close to the flame, of being burned by the intensity of his gaze. But even as the warning bells sounded in my head, I find myself drawn in by the raw power of his magnetic blue eyes. His hair was neatly combed to the back.

"Lana, this is my dad, Gerard. Dad, this is Lana," Arden's thumb caressed my hand and that is when I realized that I was gripping Arden's hand so tight, I let go immediately and Gerard's hand was held out towards me and I placed my hand in his. He gave my hand a little squeeze as we shook hands, but our eyes stayed connected. It was as if he could see into your soul with just a look. He was the very definition of attractive and a tall, athletic build that seemed to command attention wherever he went. He didn't seem to age but there was a very thin gray streak on the side of his hair. The only evidence of him ageing.

"Pleasure to finally meet you." His voice was deep and rich, with a smooth, velvety quality that sent shivers down my spine. It was the kind of voice that commanded attention.

I swallowed, " Likewise," I said as I pulled my hand away from his. I can see now why women fall at his feet. He turned around and walked into the dining room as we followed after him. I felt Arden's hand gently against my lower back. There was something undeniably alluring about Gerard, a sense of mystery and intrigue that made women want to get closer, to see what lay beneath the surface.

And yet, despite his undeniable appeal, there was also a sense of danger that hung around him like a cloak. He moved with a quiet confidence, as if he knew he was in control of every situation, and his piercing blue eyes seemed to hold a hint of the darkness that lay beneath the surface. Women were drawn to him like moths to a flame, unable to resist the raw magnetism of his gaze.

Arden pulled a chair out from the dinner table. I made sure to take a seat far away from Gerard, letting Arden sit next to him. Gerard was sitting at the head of the table. As Arden and Miranda took their seats, Gerard was watching me like a prey that was ready to devour me when given the chance to. This man is danger and I wish that I hadn't agreed to dinner. Yet, I cannot avoid this man because he will be a grandfather.

One thing is for sure, he will not have any hold on me like other women. I can understand why Arden wouldn't want me anywhere close to him. But I am strong and I am a Stern.
