Chapter 57 Unexpected News
Arden's POV
My heart skipped a beat as I saw Lana walking into the boardroom. She was beautiful like an angel that came into the midst of my darkness. When she looked at me, I reassured her to do this. She did well, but I knew the signs of a panic attack and she left the boardroom.
Worry took over me and I excused myself from the meeting to go and find her, to make sure that she was okay. She just lost a father and I do believe that it is soon for her to take over this role. I shouldn't have reassured her because maybe I made this worse. As I walked out of the boardroom, Lana was trying to breathe and I tried to help her.
I caught her in my arms as she passed out. "F^ck..Lana?" I don't care if worry can be heard in my voice. I let her down on the ground, still holding her
"Sh^t," this one man that was with Lana said as we both are crouching on the ground.
"Lana?" I said again, cupping the side of her face, but she wouldn't wake up.
"Everyone, please get to work," the man beside me was no longer beside us.
"Lana, please wake up," I tried to shake her awake a bit, but she wouldn't even open her eyes.
My heart was racing and I took her in my arms and stood up with her. "We can use my car," this man said.
We went in his car to the hospital. I just wanted to be there when she woke up.
We are now at the hospital, outside of her hospital room. "I'm Mariko, this is Reggie," the man that was with us introduced them both to me.
"Arden Moses," I replied.
"Mr Moses of The Queen Towers Enterprises?" he asked.
"Yes, I came on behalf of my father," I said.
"How do you know Lana?" he asked with curiosity.
"I taught her," I replied.
"So you're the one who had a relationship with her while teaching her?" he asked.
I was happy that there was one person who didn't say that I was f^cking her. "Yes," I replied.
He nodded as he soaked in the information. "You don't need to wait around," he said.
"I want to wait until there is news if that isn't a problem," I stated. I understand if people aren't happy for me to be around her but I am not losing her again. I want to be able to talk to her again.
"Very well," he gave me a little smile before going to Reggie. I stood with my back against the wall just hoping that Lana would be okay.
"Gray isn't answering her phone, I can't believe she would throw Lana out of the house," I couldn't help but overhear what they were talking about. I paid more attention to their conversation.
"Gray needs to come around because she cannot blame her for his death. Lana didn't do anything to him, he only cared for his daughter and he would do anything for them. Lana was like the apple of his eye."
I need to speak to Lana and know what is really going on in her life since she left New York and with her father's death. "Is Lana okay?" I looked in their direction. The Doctor was standing by them.
I remained at a bit of a distance but I moved away from the wall. "Who are you both?" he asked. He was an older man.
"We are her uncles," Reggie said.
"Lana is okay, she is resting. I would like to keep her overnight. She needs plenty of rest and she needs to eat. So make sure that she gets those two things," he said.
"She hardly ate and she has been pretty much off lately," one of the guys replied to the doctor.
I didn't know that she hadn't been eating. I am concerned and I want to take care of her myself.
"Well, has she been having morning sickness too?" the doctor asked.
My brows furrowed. Why would he ask such a question? Both men were confused. "Not that we know about. What are you saying?"
"Lana, is pregnant. That can also play a role. The baby is fine, by the way," he said.
What? Did I hear correctly? She is pregnant?
My whole world felt like it stood still. If she is...whose baby is it? Did she move on from me that quickly? Was this about babies that she left me? She was on the pill when we had s^x...f^ck.
I ran my hand through my hair and I just walked down the hall, away from her room. I was beginning to feel suffocated. As I walked towards the exit, I untied my black tie because I needed air.
I didn't expect this. I don't know how to feel. I need to get away from here to think clearly. I had to wait for Mariko, seemed that I drove with him. But this is something that just threw me off my feet. If it's mine, I don't know what I would do. I made it clear to her that I didn't want kids. I don't know what to think anymore.
I walked towards a bench that was outside of the hospital. I sat down. I cannot be a father again, but maybe it's not mine and then I do not have to worry about another kid and things from the past happening again.
F^ck, I need answers from Lana. I took a deep breath, this can't be happening. The woman that I love is pregnant. I don't know what to think. Is this why she spoke about pregnancy the day that she broke up with me?
I have so many questions and I am just assuming every possibility. This is a knife pierced in my heart and its twisting, deepening my pain, yet I feel angry.
How could this happen? How could this happen to us?
