Chapter 175 A New Meeting
Chapter 175 A New Meeting
Lana's POV
Arden dropped me off at work today. It was still a rainy day, so I decided to wear black skinny jeans, a white long-sleeved blouse and a black winter jersey with black ankle boots. My hair was tied up in a high ponytail. This time, I didn't forget my sketches. I made sure that I had them. Arden didn't want me to drive to Sternpoint in this weather. He didn't want anything to happen on the road, he had become super protective of me and our little pea, which does warm my heart.
As I looked at the sketches on my desk, I checked each one of them, remembering Arden's words of last night, that I shouldn't give up. Each sketch I had poured my all into them, and to me they looked brilliant. I got this talent from my mother and she is flourishing at what she is doing. Her talent, her dream, and I wanted to be like her when I was young. But life has its own plans. I had to make peace with that.
I was lucky enough that I didn't get bad morning sickness. I had toast this morning, but Arden still made sure that fruit salad would be part of my meal. I took a seat in my leather chair as thunder crashed. I closed my eyes as my heart raced, sometimes thunder would scare me.
"I heard about Mr Oswald." I opened my eyes and uncle Mariko walked towards me and I saw that Maddie walked to her desk. I still think that something might be going on between them, but I won't dwell on it because I have better things to worry about. Uncle Mariko had documents in his hands. "I scheduled a meeting for Exposure Trait Design. I believe that they are great and their work is brilliant. You have a meeting at 10am. I tried to call you yesterday about it but your phone went to voicemail. I left a text message," he said. I checked my phone but it was dead.
"Sh^t," I muttered, "My phone must've died last night, I'm sorry. I didn't check it last night," I felt bad, also because I didn't prepare for this meeting so that it could go well with this company.
"Its okay, you will do great. Just continue as with your previous meeting," he reassured me.
"You weren't there," I stated, almost glaring at him.
"I'm sorry that I wasn't there, but I also had things to take care of. I have faith in you and I believe that you will pull this one off. There are many companies that I have on the list when some don't work out," he said.
I let out a sigh, "I suppose that I could try my best with this one. I don't want to be fighting to get something good. If I don't then maybe the shoe line was a bad idea," my shoulders sagged.
"Do not give up so easily. The Lana that I know wouldn't give up without a fight. If there is more going on that is making you feel this way, then let me know. Perhaps I can help you with it," he offered.
"I...I don't know. Everything is okay, but why am I this afraid of the outcome when it comes to my designs? I am really not like this," I said as tears stung the back of my eyes, and I blinked them away.
"Perhaps you're afraid," he replied.
"Maybe, but... never mind," I stacked my sketches together. I checked the time on the wall clock and it was nearly 10am. "It is almost time for the meeting."
"Yes, I am afraid that I won't be at this meeting either," he said sympathetically as I stood up.
"I can handle it," I gave him a small smile. I nearly told him that I was pregnant. I am glad that I didn't blurt it out. I was afraid about it too, but I shouldn't be thinking about it,
"All the best," he smiled, and I took my sketches and smiled at him before leaving my office.
I was nervous and just breathing as I walked towards the boardroom. "Hey, do you have a minute?" Cynthia asked me with documents in her hand.
I stopped in my tracks. "Sure, what can I do?" I asked.
"I need these to be signed by you. Only you or Mariko can sign these. It is forms for the models. If you have time, then they will be having auditions later and I need someone to help pick them out for me," she said as she handed the forms and pen over to me while she took my sketches.
I went inside her office and I placed the forms on her desk and signed them all. "You are awfully quiet, are you okay?" she asked.
"Yeah, just need to get this meeting over and done with so that I can get my designs out there and be brought to life," I sighed as I completed the signing of forms. I placed the pen on the desk and Cynthia handed the sketches to me.
"You will do great, you always have. Well, except for business when you were in Arden's class," she giggled, but I just stared at her deadpanned.
"I need to go," I said as I hurried to the boardroom.
As I entered, it was only one man who was inside, waiting, his back was facing towards me, he was standing. I didn't even know his last name because I was informed about it this morning due to my phone that had died last night.
"I'm sorry to keep you waiting," I said as I moved towards the boardroom table and I stopped in my tracks as the man turned around to face me. I didn't think that I would ever see him again since the day that we argued about Arden. I couldn't muster a word and he looked good.
He smiled at me, taking in my appearance. I licked my lips and swallowed so that I could actually say something.
"Daniel."
