Chapter 89 - Very careful and safe - mduno

Chapter 89 - Very careful and safe - mduno
I never imagined a situation like this, and even less that I would have to live through it. Not even knowing the life of my future husband did I think I would experience it. I always saw news reports about the kidnapping of so-and-so and it seemed like something out of context, I never considered it a reality.

I have always been detached from the harsh reality in the country I live in. I haven't done anything to anyone, I always told myself; it will never happen to me. I felt sympathy for others, but I never internalized it until today. I was dragged by my hair through an entire house and thrown into a windowless, very dark room. I couldn't even see my hands.

No matter how hard I tried to open my eyes, I couldn't see anything. I received a hard blow to the head, and it hurt a lot, so I tied the scarf around my head. I was confident I would get out of here; Roland must be turning the city upside down. God, please give him the serenity to handle the situation.

Since my attack, I hadn't seen people die like I did an hour ago. Roland's workers who were waiting were killed in cold blood. Why did I take so long? If I hadn't stayed so long, this wouldn't be happening. I heard footsteps and the door opened. They turned on a dim yellow bulb, and two men I had never seen before came in, and I felt terror. There was a chair they roughly forced me to sit in, and the guy sat on the dirty cot.

"This beauty is Don Roland's Achilles' heel." He spat at my feet. "Look, little bitch, first, I'll fuck you through every hole you have, then my buddy will, and then I'll dismember you piece by piece to send as a wedding gift to that bastard Don Roland." I started trembling uncontrollably.

The guy began to slide his finger down my neck, reaching my breasts and squeezing them. No matter how much I squirmed to avoid it, there wasn't much I could do; the other one held me tightly. I started screaming, like a hysterical, delusional woman. No one would hear me, no one would come to rescue me at that moment.

He continued until he reached the button of my pants. This couldn't be happening. I kicked the guy in the face, and he slapped me hard, knocking me out of the chair. I hit the railing of the makeshift, foul-smelling bed. The door burst open, and the first shot rang out, killing the man behind me. I smiled, tears started streaming down my face, now I was a bundle of nerves.

"How is it..." Another shot silenced the disgusting guy who almost raped me.

"Are you alright, miss?"

I remembered Roland's words about Simon this morning, "I only trust these two men with your safety." Now I understood, since the attack, he's been under threat, and I still believed I could continue living my life calmly. I chose him, so I had to face these kinds of situations.

"Did they do anything to you?" He approached, took off my scarf, and looked at the head wounds. I couldn't speak, my body was still trembling. "Damn, the Boss won't forgive this!"

He carried me out of the hole they had put me in, and I felt calm. Roland was already here. Simon climbed the stairs; there were loud noises upstairs. When we reached the living room, several men were lying on the floor, groaning.

"So far, he hasn't killed any of them, just left them crippled, miss."

Our eyes met, who knows how I looked. I saw the anger in him. He kicked the shirtless guy in shorts lying on the floor, who had a big gold chain on his chest.

"You know me!"

Roland was acting differently. I saw the side of the Boss everyone feared. He was someone else, his eyes cold, expressionless, without feeling.

"How dare you mess with something of mine?!"

"I only take orders, Boss."

The man was crying. Roland maintained that psychopathic attitude, scaring his prey, like a predator before eating. He had a gun in each hand and tilted his head from side to side, like a typical hitman... No, that was the attitude of a perfect killer without scruples or feelings.

"I don't give a damn, you know I'll go all the way. You know me." He spoke softly, coldly, like an ice dagger. "You worked in my organization for a while, you know that I used to kill without a reason and enjoyed it." He shot him in the leg, and the man's scream shook the room. "Imagine how I am when someone matters to me."

He shot him in the other leg. Simon was carrying me, Roland pointing in my direction without taking his eyes off the guy on the floor. He looked superior in every way.
"You shouldn't have messed with the most sacred thing in my life," he said, pointing the gun at his head, and at that moment, I remembered his promise.

"Roland!"

Just a fraction of a second was enough for him to stop. He looked at me, and I shook my head. Don't kill him, my love. I hoped he could read my mind.

"Thank your lucky stars my angel is here, or you'd be dead. But... I need to teach you not to mess with me." He shot him twice more in the legs. "Call whoever hired you. I think I know who it is, and tell them it will continue."

Roland came over to us, still carrying me. He picked me up in his arms, and as I felt safe, the look I knew returned. I clung to him as Simon gave instructions to his men to leave, leaving the wounded guys behind. He continued giving orders.

We got into the car, and Cebolla was driving. The rest went in other SUVs. Simon sat in the passenger seat, and we were in the back. They didn't say a word to the Boss; they just kept giving orders. My boyfriend checked the depth of my head wound.

"It needs stitches, Veronica." As soon as he said it, Simon was already calling Dr. Mendoza.

"Doctor, to the hangars." I looked at Roland.

"I'll get you out of here."

His face was inscrutable, shielded with that awful armor that kept me from seeing through his eyes.

"We're getting married in four days."

"And we will. We'll arrive a few hours before the wedding and then disappear. I'll get you out of Colombia, Vida." He kissed my forehead.

"There are many things left to do."

"I'll take care of it, miss."

"You?"

I couldn't leave the final details to my boyfriend's right-hand man. Blood was running down my face, and I had a severe headache.

"Ines will help me." Simon's phone rang. "Is everything arranged and cleared?" Roland hugged me tightly.

"What does that mean..."

"Don't ask. It's better to let some things be as they should be."

"But..."

"Miss, if we didn't kill them, they would come after us, and I made the decision, not the Boss." Roland was analyzing me. Why was he looking at me like that? I caressed his cheek. "And the eldest sons of the Cárdenas will pay."

"Are you going to leave again?" I sensed that would happen.

"I should. The problem is I'm so selfish, and I can't leave you. I can only keep you safe, Veronica."

We reached the airport, in the private jet area. The doctor arrived five minutes later. He gave me two stitches and prescribed several pills. Roland received the prescription and handed it to Cebolla, who went out to buy the medicines.

"Since I met you, we always end up in the same situation."

I gave him a half-smile, even though my head was still spinning. Roland kept staring at me as they injected a painkiller at my boyfriend's request.

"Give me a moment. I need to talk to the doctor. Simon shouldn't be long; he's talking to the pilot."

I nodded, feeling the effects of the painkiller. I lay down on the couch where they treated me, and my eyes slowly closed as I watched Roland talking to the doctor, who kept changing colors until I fell asleep.

When I woke up, Roland was distractedly looking at his laptop, with four cell phones on the table. He hadn't rested, and I had no idea where I was. I focused and heard the sound of the waves, but I fell asleep again.

Later, he woke me up to give me the medication. It was very late at night. He kissed my forehead after I took four pills, whose names I didn't know. I'll ask him tomorrow. He turned off the light with a remote, his arms wrapped around me, and I fell asleep again. But before I did, I whispered to him.

"Thank you for rescuing me. I love you."

Roland hugged me tighter. He must have been cursing himself for what happened, blaming himself for not deserving me.

"Don't leave me again, please." He frequently kissed my forehead.

"I swear this will be the last time, I swear, Beautiful."

"Where are we?" He laughed out loud in the dark, and I loved hearing it.

"In the cabin I lost in a bet because of you." I kissed his chest.

"It was yours?"

"Yes, now it belongs to Rata. But I was the first to use it. Forgive me." I knew he wouldn't be at ease until he apologized.

"You don't need to apologize."

"You have another damn scar because of me and a big bump on your forehead." I sighed, knowing I couldn't take that feeling away from him quickly.

"I love you."

"Sleep, my love. We'll stay here until the day before the wedding. No one knows about this place except Rata and Cebolla."

"You care about them a lot, don't you?"

"I consider them my friends, one more than the other, but my only friends. Then there are four more men who have shown loyalty and friendship. There's a code among us. We're a select group of ten."
