Chapter 355 - Follow the action movie - mdfour

Chapter 355 - Follow the action movie - mdfour
Clarisa

I listened to my husband, finished buckling him up, and not only did I react, but Luisa did too. When the car's brakes jolted us forward and back, we heard the tires screeching on the pavement. There were five cars ahead.

"We're missing a car. They told us there'd be six," said Simón, watching everything. "Scratch that, on my signal. The rest, we only have one chance to get out. We need to buy time for reinforcements to arrive."

I'm going to end up in the clinic for several days because of my nerves. Just because I haven't screamed doesn't mean I don't feel the urge to use the bathroom. I know that if I scream, it'll make everything worse. My Cherry needs concentration. Gustavo sat in the car window and I saw him fire that giant weapon. He threw it away and got back inside as the three cars sped up.

"Black-haired," Simón handed a machine gun to his wife and lowered the window a bit.

"Are you serious, Simón?"

She retorted while the windows of the front seats were down. Each with a machine gun, they fired at the cars attacking us, bullets hitting their targets. The same was happening with the car driven by Arnold, and looking back, Kevin and Freddy were imitating us.

As we passed by the explosion, two cars were burning, and people were screaming. I looked away. Once we got through that checkpoint, the windows were rolled up.

"Two cars are following us. Zombie, move ahead."

Only Simón spoke. My husband moved aside, and the car with the boys moved ahead, taking the lead. We had reached the avenue. I suppose we were heading to the airport. It was three in the morning, which helped as traffic was almost non-existent.

Bullets began hitting the car. Simón looked at my husband. I felt like I was about to lose it. Luisa took my hand.

"Calm down, Clari. They're magical in situations like this," she said softly. I clung to her hand as Daniel pulled off a maneuver worthy of a movie stunt; he turned the car, now driving in reverse, and Arnold did the same.

Now both cars were driving in reverse side by side, like an acrobatic act, so perfectly synchronized. Simón's window was lowered, and he took three machine guns again.

"Black-haired, help me keep them loaded."

He handed her two with a bag full of ammunition. His wife was an expert at this and followed the order. I looked at the car next to us, and Gustavo was also getting ready. Our opponent kept firing. Looking back, I saw Freddy's vehicle had moved ahead, pushing aside the poor pedestrians who were out at this hour.

"The sixth car has appeared."

I heard the operation leader speak, and from my seat, I saw a macabre smile. I had never seen Simón like this, and even worse, seeing my husband's smile. They somehow enjoyed the danger.

"NOW!"

Now what? Luckily, the older women were sent away. This is not for the faint-hearted. Simón and Gustavo climbed out the window, sitting to target the tires of the two vehicles pursuing us.

Several things happened in a second. The perfect synchronization of Daniel and Arnold driving in reverse, the precise aim of two relentless veterans like Simón and Gustavo, and the element of surprise that must be characteristic of them. The enemy's two cars flipped over from losing their tires and the speed at which they were traveling.

That caused their collision, and then a military vehicle, more like a tank due to its size, made its way through as Simón and Gustavo got back inside the car, smiling wickedly. At that moment, they said, or rather shouted:

"Checkmate!"

They spoke as a projectile hit that giant car. Looking out the window, it was the helicopter piloted by Miguel accompanied by Roland. The Patron just gave a military salute, and my husband and Simón burst into laughter.

"It wouldn't be Roland Sandoval without his grand entrance," said Luisa, smiling.

"Now to the airport, we must leave immediately," said Simón. "Get the ambulances ready for our arrival." Silence. Who are they talking to? "Rhino, make sure the old lady holds on!"

If Inés dies, these men will unleash World War III against those who orchestrated this, and if Diana loses the baby, Miguel will annihilate a quarter of the world.
We arrived at the airport, and there were already several agents there. Among them, I recognized Cooper, Yadira's husband, the federal agent, and Gustavo's brother-in-law.

He was talking with Roland. We all got out of the cars and boarded the plane. Miguel was next to his wife, kissed her on the lips, and then headed to the pilot's cabin. My husband kissed me and followed him; he was the co-pilot.

I still have no idea what to feel. Everything is literally shaking. Inés was very pale, she had a dextrose drip and another bag of blood. How do they know what's needed in these situations? The plane started moving. I don't know if we won, but from my point of view... we lost.

……

Aníbal

My nerves are shot. My mother being in such bad shape has devastated me. They're already on their way. It's not the same being on this side, unable to be part of the action that my friends are facing. It's a damn impotence of a thousand demons.

I've already sent two ambulances to our clinic in San Antonio, where Diana and Inés will be transferred. At least Diana, from what Alfredo told me, it was just nerves and fright. She's stable now; she hasn't bled either. He put a monitor on her, and they both calmed down when they heard the baby's heartbeat because Cebolla was losing his mind.

"Guys," Rino's voice sounded worried. "To be honest, I don't know... Inés doesn't look good."

I covered my mouth to keep from screaming. My mother can't die without knowing I'm alive. My lip trembled, the silence was unanimous. We were all crying silently, just sighs and heavy breathing.

"Put her on the phone."

"What?!" said the doctor. I took the phone and dialed the number for the plane. "Are you sure?"

"Put her on."

"She's very weak."

"She won't talk."

"Alright, she has the phone to her ear."

I gathered my courage because I knew this meant Shirly would find out about me. I didn't want that yet, but this was beyond any plan.

"Hi, Mom."

One of the screens on the big wall here at the headquarters lit up, the TV connected to one of the guys' contact lenses showed me my mom's face. It was clear she was desperate to talk to me.

"Don't strain yourself, Mom. Hold on to life. I swear that once you get to the clinic, I'll be waiting for you." Inés cried.

"My boy," she said with her exhausted voice. She looked terrible, almost like a corpse.

"Everyone's lucky I can't get up. That's not right. I'm happy, yes, happy, but it's not right," she said in a tired voice. "Shirly, for God's sake, Shirly."

She stopped talking. Arnold, who was wearing the contact lenses, stepped back, and Rino started resuscitating her.

"Mom, don't die...!"

I screamed. Those were the most hellish minutes of my life. I started kicking until we finally heard the beep from the device connected to her. Carlina finished monitoring her condition while Alfredo stepped back and was comforted by his girlfriend, who hugged him as we all watched the doctor tremble.

"My mom is waiting for me," I said.

"Aníbal!" the boss said through gritted teeth. "Do you know what that means?"

"I know, but I'd rather my wife hate me for a while until she gets over her anger than never be able to see my mom again."

"If that's your decision, brother."

"I'll see you at the clinic entrance in Blanco," I said. I disconnected the audio. "ANA! ANA! ANA!" The poor woman arrived almost stumbling.

"Mr. Aníbal..."

"Do you know how to drive?"

"Of course. Are you okay?"

"Get ready, we need to get to Blanco urgently. They'll be in San Antonio in half an hour. It's better to wait for them at the clinic."

"Are you sure?"

"Absolutely. It's time to face the music. Please, I'll only go with my crutches."

"I'll bring the simple wheelchair anyway."

"It's not necessary."

"Mr. Aníbal, after the slap your wife gives you, I think you'll need it."

"I don't think she'll hit me."

"Then I'll be the only one who, in a case like yours, would be heartbroken to be displaced by my husband at such an important moment as his recovery."

"Ana, I can't undo my actions now. I can only face them. Whatever happens, happens. Now get ready and take me."

"Yes, sir."

Whatever happens, happens. I had imagined a soap opera-style reunion so many times. None of that will happen. Without a doubt, my wife is going to beat me up. If she does, I'll have a chance to get back with her in the future. If she ignores me, I'll have to give her the world. The bad part is that she'll find out about my existence in the worst way. Soon, I'll see you, Darling.
