Chapter 292 - The Truth to Manipulate - mdtres
Kevin
"Killing your people, one by one, little by little."
Is he revealing the plan? At that moment, I remembered one of the classes the boss of bosses gave us when we joined his organization. After a series of tests, they grouped us.
In fact, all of us undercover were from the same class, including Rino. But he was in technology, though it seemed like he was in two fields, the other being a secret of the organization. That afternoon, the feared Don Roland Sandoval entered, and despite being almost three years older, he seemed like a hundred-year-old man due to the power he wielded over everyone.
The class was about: if you're in front of the enemy, to make them believe you, you must tell them half the truth. Always use the truth to manipulate. By telling the truth, the brain works in favor of that truth.
With it, your body certifies what you say. You never lower your gaze, you don't fear, consequently you don't show weakness, and even if it's not visible, the eyes register it, and the brain trusts the person speaking. That's what Mojón is doing.
As my grandmother used to say, you learn from the masters, not from your peers. Pay attention in class, or you'll be a fool. Then she'd give me a knock on the head, that was my grandma.
"He likes driving people crazy, making them make mistakes, and in the end, you'll end up paranoid."
"Would you detect Roland's people? Do you know what they might be doing?"
"He must already be watching both you and me, and he won't send a nobody. The ones coming will be his trusted men."
"You were one of them!"
"And I would be if it weren't for your idiocy. I told you it was too soon, but you lacked the coldness to handle the situation. All I can say is be careful, keep the people you care about away, you declared war on the boss of bosses."
"He's been quiet."
"That's what you think, and if he really had something to do with that place I don't know about. Was it a brothel like this one?" I kept my face expressionless, just watching how Arnold handled the situation.
"It was different."
"How different? Was it a gay club? I have nothing against that as long as the employees do it for pleasure and money like the two girls I like so much. It's a different story when you force them. Is the club for men?"
Mojón had approached his father, walked past him, and looked at the damage to the door.
"We'll have to change rooms. Tell me, father?"
"It was different."
"Since you don't want to tell me, don't look for me to face the boss. You declared war, kill each other, then I'll take your place."
"You're direct."
"Something you need to learn."
"I see you also like peculiar tastes in sex. Why don't you practice with your wife Marcela?"
"The only reason I don't sleep with her is because you do, and after sticking your dick in this one's ass, you go and sleep with her." He made a disgusted face, and I almost burst out laughing. This guy has no filter. "That's what disgusts me. For that reason, I'll never sleep with that woman again. In fact, make her disappear, and I'll marry Carlina." Whoa! What happened here?
"You like my wife's sister?"
"I'd like to get her out of all this. Would I have your permission?"
"If she accepts you."
"She told me I need to be free to earn a kiss. I really like her."
"Just like her sister, they become a headache later."
"Let me talk to her."
"You can talk to Irina tomorrow. She accidentally caught us in a compromising situation." Now what is he planning? "Look, father, as I told you the day we left Blanco, I'm never going to save your skin. I don't care about you, but I do like the idea of being the owner of everything.
"That's the only reason I'm here. Now Roland is playing, and he always strikes where it hurts the most. You made a fool of him. If I were you, I'd keep your loved ones away for a while. The ones you truly love. And I can help you with that, on the condition that you remove Marcela from the equation and Carlina marries me."
"Let me think about it. Now I need to find out who desecrated the Horizon."
"Goodbye. Girls, pack your things, we're moving to another room."
......
Daniel
Clari's scream pulled me out of a deep sleep. When I got up, she was already dressed, breathing as they teach in maternity classes. With my two previous children, I didn't have time, but now I took those terrifying classes, because they make you worry about everything.
"It's time, Dani, they're getting more frequent."
We've been living at our ranch, The Beginning, for a couple of months, still getting it set up. I jumped out of bed like a bolt of lightning, put on my jeans, and grabbed a t-shirt from the closet.
I put on my boots and grabbed the bag for Daniela Bermúdez, my daughter. Now I'm really lost, four women in the house and two men. While we're in this situation, Claudia, my mother-in-law, stays with us.
I carried my little cabbage down the stairs and shouted to my wife's mother to come later, leaving her in charge of the kids. I approached the secret compartment in my garage, placed my fingerprint, and took out the gun. You never know what you might encounter.
Fifteen days ago, Roland installed digital security to open the weapon compartments in all the ranches, including the two new ones he delivered a week ago. The reason was that we have kids in the houses.
Since Dante and Enrique proved to be daring behind the wheel and capable of imitating adults, he said he didn't want to have an accident on his conscience. That's why all compartments only open with the fingerprints of the cartel members.
Even the compartment we have in the bed has this device. This way, we avoid accidents until they grow up and we train them.
"What's with the gun?"
"You know why, sweetie. Now let's go, I can't wait to hold Daniela."
"I love how you always stay calm in these situations."
That's what she thinks. The truth is, I immerse myself in Cereza's world. If I let Daniel take over, I'd be a nervous wreck. I drove at a normal speed; many might think I'm going too fast. I left a message in Rata's inbox; I don't want to wake him at three in the morning.
When we arrived at the clinic, I asked for Dr. Jones, and thank God she was on the night shift. The delivery was scheduled to be a C-section in three days, but my baby couldn't wait to meet her dad. I said goodbye to Clarisa; they were prepping her and would call me in soon.
"Daniel," the doctor came to my side.
"Is something wrong?"
"Not yet, but... every woman suffers from postpartum stress, and in Clarisa's case, it might intensify a bit since she can't breastfeed. It's clear how dedicated she is to her children, as are all your wives. Do you understand where I'm going with this?"
"You're referring to the cancer and my wife's lack of breasts."
"Exactly. It could reactivate. Cancer is also emotional. Have you talked to your wife about this?" I shook my head.
"Find the right way and words to prevent her from falling into that hole."
"Thank you, doctor."
"I'll call you in a bit."
While waiting, I received a message in the family chat congratulating us on the new family member, from Roland, Simón, and Miguel. It was already four in the morning. They called me in. My sweetie was smiling, and I approached her.
"I want to ask you to stay with me always." She frowned.
"They only anesthetized half my body. Because of my cancer treatment, they don't want to trigger any cancerous cell reactivation."
"That's what I mean." Hearing her say that was gratifying. "Also, be aware that you won't be able to breastfeed the baby, Dani."
"I know. But still, let me cry if I feel like it."
"But don't cry too much."
"Remember, I'll disconnect soon."
"I know. Remember that I love you, that you support me. You are and will be the pillar of my home. If you don't want to see your children and a defeated man, don't even think about leaving me or falling into depression. You have more important things to do here than there."
"Such motivational words," said the doctor.
"You asked me to find the right words."
"And those were it?"
"For my Cabbage, they're perfect."
I felt a pinch on my hand. I smiled as I saw her roll her eyes, and I stole a kiss.
"Alright, let's proceed..."
