Luisa got up to turn off the light. I was dozing off when suddenly, there was a desperate knock on the door. We were frightened and sat up abruptly. I opened the door as quickly as I could. "We were attacked. I'm sorry, ma'am, I have to get you out of the country."
"What?!" Luisa and Diana exclaimed.
"The lady is leaving?" I looked at Diana.
"You're all going to the only safe place right now," Simon said, his face twisted with what had happened.
"Luisa stays with me, you go with Onion."
"Where to?" I asked.
"To the house where you were going to live with your husband. No one knows about that property, ma'am. I have to find the bastard who dared to burn down the house."
"Which house?"
"The one we lived in. I have no idea how they blocked my security, it must have been a good hacker, but not better than me. I have to stay, I won't put you in danger. A plane is already waiting for you."
"Luisa..."
"Ma'am, I'm staying with my girlfriend to sort this out. It must have been one of the two cities left, they're bastards."

"We must arrive in Bogotá before ten in the morning. The trucks are ready."
We all started to prepare. I packed the little I had brought and added clothes for hot weather, the kind I used when I lived with Dad before getting married. The death of my dogs pained me. In a matter of minutes, we were loading the bags into the trucks. In a separate car, Simon and Luisa left with Cherry driving. In the car I was in, Miguel was driving, Arnold sat in the passenger seat, and I was in the back with Ines and Diana, holding the baby. A new change is coming... I don't know if I was ready for it.
The nerves were trying to control them. They knew what they were doing and would keep us safe.
"Does Miguel always drive?" Diana broke the silence.
"I feel safer with him driving, he's the Colombian Dominic Toretto."
"Is he that good?" she widened her eyes.
"You can't imagine. To be a driver, you not only need skill, but also the cunning to make the wheel do whatever your mind imagines. That's a gift. Miguel has always been behind a wheel, a helicopter, or anything that can move on land, air, or water.
"He has a cool head for it. His protégé is Daniel. To create a solid team, you need people good at specific skills. Roland was an expert at exploiting people's abilities and using them to his advantage."

We were going at a staggering speed as if destiny itself imposed it. The roads weren't too congested. My father was worried; he promised to visit in about fifteen days. My dog was in one of the cars following us. Gustavo was one of those coming with Daniel and Gladis's family. What was supposed to be a week of rest turned into a tragedy.
A convoy of cars was behind us. It took Miguel three hours to get to the airport. It was surprising how they managed when Simón took control. As we got out, my dog was put in a crate, and he handed us the documents.
"This didn't burn?" I asked, surprised when Simón handed us our visas and passports. "Did you have an ID of mine?"
Luisa looked at her boyfriend with admiration. Simón remained serious, more than serious, he was angry, feeling mocked. For him, his security was unbreakable.
"Since they tried to kidnap her, I took everyone's documents and put them in my backpack. With what was coming, I needed to have everyone's documentation in case we had to run, and look, it happened."
"I've gone two months without carrying my ID in my wallet?"
Despite the situation, Inés's comment made us smile. Miguel arrived next to us, holding Diana's hand.
"Everything's ready. I have the address and the details you gave me. I'm also going with this guy."
"My name is Juan," he responded, annoyed. Raúl hugged me, he was staying, he had to work. "On the plane, I hope you catch me up. I don't understand who wanted to attack Roland's house... Although... I don't think so."

"As a friend, Vero, you don't have to remind me every minute." Luisa smiled and came over, hugging Raúl.
"As soon as I can, I'll visit you," my friend said.
"I want you to work for me. Quit your job and I'll wait for you in Blanco, Texas," she said. I looked at Simón. "When everything calms down a bit, have Gladis contact me when you think it's appropriate. Take care. Don't you dare die."
"Don't worry, ma'am. Onion." They looked at each other.

I couldn't talk to Santiago, I didn't say goodbye, although they must be happy, heading to Brazil. I told my dad not to tell them anything, to let them enjoy these fifteen days. I said goodbye to everyone, and when I hugged Luisa, I whispered to her.

We boarded the plane. I don't know if I'll ever get used to the changes in my life. I hadn't slept at all since we left.
