Chapter 94

Chapter 94
The Price of Betrayal.
Damian’s POV.

The warehouse thundered with gunfire, bullets carving through the smoke as steel clashed against steel. I shoved Claire behind a toppled crate, my pistol blazing with precise, merciless fury. Tatiana Solokov, the heir of the empire her father built, moved like a phantom, her blade flashing crimson in the chaos. Her laughter echoed, cold, sharp, as though revealing the carnage.
Lucian stood across the battlefield, his gun aimed not at Tatiana but at me. His smirk was feral, a wound rippled across his face but his stance was unshaken.
“You should’ve stayed dead, brother,” I growled, my voice deep, gravel laced with rage.
Lucian tilted his head, mocking. “And let you take everything? No. Tonight, I reclaim my birthright. The Solokov and I..we share the same bloodlust. Together, we’ll finish what father started.”
Claire gasped, torn between terror and heartbreak. She couldn’t ignore the cold truth in Lucian’s eyes. Betrayal wasn’t a mask. It was his truest self.
The warehouse became hell itself fire eating into the walls, grenades exploding, men dropping one after another. I charged, ignoring the sting of a bullet grazing my shoulder, as my world narrowed to two enemies; Tatiana with her blade, and Lucian with his venom.
Tatiana lunged, her blade arcing toward my throat. I ducked, sweeping her legs out, sending her crashing against metal beams. The clang echoed, but she sprang like a viper, fury lighting her pale eyes.
“Your empire dies tonight, Damian,” she hissed. “The Bratva belongs to me.”
I parried with brutal strength, every strike fueled by my need to protect Claire, to end this war. Behind me, Claire fought her own fear, firing at the Solokov men who tried to flank us. Each shot burned her palm, but she refused to break.
Lucian moved closer, his presence suffocating. “You were always weak, Damian. Chasing loyalty, chasing love,” he spat, gun aimed at me. “While I carved my path with fire and blood.”
Claire’s heart clenched. “Lucian, don’t, you’re his brother..”
“Not anymore,” his fingers tightened on the trigger.
But Tatiana lunged again, forcing me to roll, dodging both her blade and Lucian’s bullet. Sparks flew as metal met metal, and as we circled each other through fire and ruin.
The Bratva soldiers were thinning, my men pressing harder, but the battle was far from won. And in the center of it all stood three hearts. Love, hate, and betrayal intertwined.
I slammed Lucian against a steel beam, his fist connecting with bone. Blood spattered. “You betray me. You betray our name!”
Lucian only laughed, twisted, feral. “The name means nothing. Father gave you everything, and me nothing. Tatiana understands me. With her, I’ll rule both empires.”
Claire’s scream tore through the warehouse as Tatiana caught her arm, dragging her from cover. The heir pressed the blade to Claire’s throat. Eyes glittering with sadistic triumph.
I froze. My gun wavered, my fury colliding with dread.
“Drop it,” Tatiana whispered, digging the blade against Claire’s skin. “Or watch her bleed.”
For a heartbeat, the world tilted. The crackle of fire, the groans of the dying, the acrid sting of smoke, everything dimmed under the weight of Claire’s wide terrified eyes.
I lowered my gun. Slowly.
Lucian smirked, stepping closer, savoring the sigh of me disarmed. “See, brother? Love makes you weak. And weakness gets you killed.”
But Claire wasn’t weak. With a sudden twist, she rammed her elbow into Tatiana’s ribs, breaking free just as I lunged forward. My hand snapped Tatiana’s wrist, the blade clattering to the floor.
Gunfire erupted again, chaos breaking the moment apart.
Lucian opened fire, bullets shredding the ground where I had stood a moment before. We collided again, fist and fury replacing guns. Every strike was history, every blow years of resentment, betrayal, and lost blood.
“You think you’re the better man?” Lucian snarled, spitting blood. “You’re nothing without her.” His gaze flickered to Claire, venom thick in his tone. “She’ll bury you.”
I roared, driving my fist into Lucian’s jaw, snapping his head back. “Touch her, and I’ll end you.”
Tatiana recovered, blade in hand once more. She slashed toward Claire, but this time, Claire was ready. Fueled by desperation, she fired the bullet grazing Tatiana’s arm. The heir screamed, rage twisting her beauty into something monstrous.
“You’ll pay for that, little lamb.”
But I blocked her, the fight splitting into two. Tatian against me, Lucian circling like a predator, waiting for the killing blow.
The warehouse was collapsing, beams groaning under fire. Sparks rained down. And still, none of us stopped. Vengeance and survival locked deadly embrace.
The final confrontation ignited. Tatiana and I clashed into a whirlwind of steel and fury, sparks spraying with every strike. She was fast, merciless, but I was a storm, each strike more brutal than the last.
Lucian watched, bloodied but grinning. “Kill her, Damian,” he taunted. “Do it for me. Do it. And maybe I’ll let Claire live.”
But I didn’t kill for Lucian. I fought for my woman, my empire, my name. With a savage twist, I wrenched Tatiana’s blade, slamming her against the steel beam until her breath choked out.
Tatiana slumped, defeated, but alive for now.
Lucian raised his gun again, but Claire screamed. “Damian!” And threw herself between us. The shot rang out, fire cracking the air..
And everything froze.
Smoke curled upward. The warehouse trembled, moments from collapse. Lucian’s face twisted as he lowered his gun, eyes gleaming with triumph, hate, and something unreadable.
I caught Claire in my arms, rage tearing through me. This wasn’t over.
It was only the beginning of the end.
