Colt led the way on Solaris past the grazing parks to the beginning of a trail that would take them through the forest till they were gradually inclining up into the mountain. There was a small river to cross and then they would head up to a view point where they could see down towards the resort and to the wilderness that surrounded it. But, it was actually the view from the next stop that Colt loved most.
There was a place where they would be a little above the tree line so they could see the entire valley. The track wound down into the trees again, but beyond it you could just make out a hidden crystaline mountain lake. Colt and her Dad would often come up here to fish for trout in the summer.
Today with all the warm autumnal weather though, the view was truly spectacular. The trees had all turned shades of gold, red, orange and every colour in between. They created a brightly coloured band around the lake making it look like some hidden faerie kingdom complete with grey mountain peaks behind. There were wild fruit berries over ripe and sweet smelling, hanging from bushes a long the trail infiltrating her nostrils and most importantly it wasn't raining. The birds were singing happily and mother nature was looking her best.
Elijah however, though appreciative of the amazing place he was in, was in fact distracted by three things. Firstly his beautiful mate riding ahead of him would always draw his eye. Secondly, although she was obviously more than competent at what she was doing - in fact even he could see she had a high level of skill and a remarkable bond with her horse, but he couldn't help worry for her safety with only trust as a way of control between the two. But thirdly, and possibly his most pressing concern was that he could no longer feel his groin area whatsoever. He was so uncomfortable he was no longer sure he would be able to naturally father children and desperate to dismount.
Looking back at him for a second Colt noticed his discomfort. Taking pity she called over, "It's not much further and then we can get off and have a break"
Elijah just nodded with a grunt in response, making Colt laugh under her breath. What a thing to conquer such a man she thought an hour or so on a horse, who'd have thought it.
After another fifteen minutes they had arrived into a small clearing by the lake. Everything was so calm, the water was so still it created a perfect mirror image on the surface of its surroundings. To their right was the small cabin Colt's father and brothers had built, complete with a tie up rail out front for the horses.
Colt dismounted from Solaris with all the lithe grace of her feline heritage. She went over to Elijah who was smiling looking down at her, she took hold of his reins and commented, "For someone who is obviously so uncomfortable, you seem to be still up there."
"Oh, right" he shook his head and asked, "Can I come down?"
"Well that's the general idea of having a break yes." Colt reaffirmed with a sarcastic smile.
Spending time with him, where he couldn't get in her face had proved helpful. She was slightly desensitized towards him she thought. That is until he dismounted and stretched his arms above his head. She watched transfixed as his shoulders flexed and her eyes were drawn to the bottom hem of his blue tshirt as it rose to reveal a small section of his sculpted abdominal muscles and v line. He had the smallest sprinkling of dark hair there and subconsciously Colt's tongue darted out to moisten her lips as she stared.
Elijah noticing Colt's reaction smiled, she thought he was attractive, there was no denying that and he could smell the slightest hint of arousal coming from her. Her guard was totally dropped as he stepped closer with his arms above him and his hands resting behind his head to keep whatever spell that was working on her in place.
"Keep looking at me like that Kitten and I will want to eat you up" he remarked with a smirk.
Colt felt like she had been doused with ice water at the realisation of what she was doing. She hadn't even noticed him come this close into her personal space. Suddenly she was surrounded by his scent again and it felt like she could barely breathe. The smirk he was wearing didn't exactly help either, both sexy and infuriating. Internally she was both condemning him and worshipping him, it was giving her a headache. She shook her head with a grimace and grunted at him, walking away with Barbie before he could make another comment, or worse try to touch her and then she might be lost forever to him.
She tied Barbie to the post and walked over to the cabin. Unlocking the door she reached into the porch for Solaris' spare halter then proceeded to catch and tie him too. She settled both horses with water and made sure Barbie was comfortable in her tack before returning to the cabin and going inside. She went to the cupboard and grabbed a couple of beers before heading back out. She had briefly thought about shaking Elijah's, so it would spray him as punishment for him embarrassing her earlier but decided against it as he would most likely remove his shirt altogether and then she would possibly be screwed. Though the thought did have some merit she mused. She wasn't blind, he was hot as sin and she could bet he would be hard and warm in all the right places. She scolded herself quickly, the last thing her wolfy would be lover needs is encouragement to bite her.
"Here" she grunted as she approached him be the water's edge. "Sorry, but it wont be properly cold the generator hasn't been on to power the fridge, but it's better than nothing right."
She twisted the cap of her own and went to sit further away from him along the shore.
Elijah watched her, thinking to himself about Colt's different personalities, right this second she was being as sullen as he could be when his ego was dinted, but she moved with such feline grace and elegance, the mood she was in now seemed so, that he thought she should have stomped away, but no his mate glided as she walked. But then how she took care of him on their ride even without realising was pure Luna material in every way, guiding him, instructing him to keep safe. She was a wolf and a cat he mused as he watched her sit on a rock not quite big enough for two. Looked like he was going to get to snuggle beside her after all he smirked as he headed over in her direction. If the rock really is too small she could always sit on his knee he smiled to himself, imagining her outrage at such a suggestion.
