Epilogue - The Wedding

Epilogue - The Wedding
One year later, in Greece…
Arielle stood before the full-length mirror, adjusting the delicate lace on her gown one last time. Her fingers trembled slightly, a mix of nerves and excitement coursing through her.
She turned to her mother, Celine Brown, and her best friend, Isabelle.
“How do I look?” Arielle asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Celine’s eyes filled with tears as she embraced her daughter. “You look perfect, my babygirl. Absolutely perfect.”
Isabelle nodded, a broad smile lighting up her face. “Yeah, I never thought you could look this beautiful. You’re stunning, Arielle.”
Arielle smiled, her heart swelling with emotion.
She turned back to the mirror, taking in the sight of herself in the elegant wedding gown. Today, she and Kyler were finally getting married after all the challenges they had faced together.
It felt surreal, like a dream she didn’t want to wake from.
Celine and Isabelle left the room to check on the guests, leaving Arielle alone with her thoughts.
She took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart.
The room was silent, save for the soft rustle of her gown as she moved. Her mind wandered to Kyler, wondering how he looked at this very moment.
She pictured him in his suit, his strong, confident presence bringing her comfort even in her thoughts.
As she adjusted a strand of hair, she caught sight of movement in the mirror. Her heart skipped a beat when she realized it was Kyler, standing just behind her.
He walked towards her with a soft smile, his eyes filled with love.
Before she could speak, he gently hugged her from behind, his arms encircling her waist.
Arielle’s breath hitched at the unexpected but welcome touch.
“You shouldn’t be here before the wedding, Kyler,” she whispered, her eyes meeting his in the mirror.
Kyler leaned down, his lips brushing against her ear. “I am exactly where I should be, Hazel.”
She smiled at the nickname, a warmth spreading through her. “Are you excited?” she asked, her voice trembling slightly.
Kyler nodded, his eyes shining with sincerity. “Am I? I am beyond excited. I can’t wait to make you mine forever.”
Arielle turned in his arms, facing him fully. The intensity in his gaze made her heart flutter. “I love you,” she said softly.
Kyler cupped her face in his hands, his thumb brushing against her cheek. “And I love you, more than anything.”
The sound of footsteps approaching broke their moment.
Kyler reluctantly stepped back, giving Arielle one last look before disappearing out of the room. Arielle’s heart pounded in her chest, the reality of the moment sinking in.
She was about to marry the love of her life.
The time had come. Arielle’s father, Nathaniel Reynolds, and her brother, Asher Reynolds, stood at the door, ready to walk her down the aisle.
Arielle linked arms with them, drawing strength from their presence.
“You ready, sweetheart?” Nathaniel asked, his voice filled with pride.
Arielle nodded, a determined look in her eyes. “Yes, Dad. I’m ready.”
As the doors to the chapel opened, Arielle’s breath caught in her throat.
The room was filled with their friends and family, all standing in anticipation. The aisle was lined with white roses, their fragrance filling the air.
At the end of the aisle stood Kyler, his eyes locked on her.
Each step felt like a heartbeat, steady and strong. Arielle’s nerves melted away, replaced by an overwhelming sense of love and joy.
She reached Kyler, their eyes never leaving each other.
Nathaniel and Asher gave her a gentle squeeze before stepping aside, leaving her standing before Kyler.
For a moment, everything else faded away. It was just the two of them, the world around them disappearing.
Kyler took her hands in his, his touch grounding her.
“You look breathtaking,” he whispered, his voice filled with awe.
Arielle smiled, tears of happiness welling up in her eyes. “So do you.”
The officiant began the ceremony, but Arielle barely heard the words.
Her focus was entirely on Kyler, the man who had stood by her through every trial and triumph.
Their vows were exchanged, each word a promise of their love and commitment.
“I, Kyler, take you, Arielle, to be my wife,” Kyler said, his voice steady and strong. “I promise to love you, honor you, and cherish you, in good times and in bad, for as long as we both shall live.”
Tears slipped down Arielle’s cheeks as she repeated her vows, her voice filled with emotion. “I, Arielle, take you, Kyler, to be my husband. I promise to love you, honor you, and cherish you, in good times and in bad, for as long as we both shall live.”
The rings were exchanged, a symbol of their unending love.
As Kyler slipped the ring onto her finger, Arielle felt a sense of completeness, a feeling that this was exactly where she was meant to be.
“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife,” the officiant declared. “You may kiss the bride.”
Kyler didn’t hesitate.
He cupped her face and brought his lips to hers, a kiss filled with love and promise. The room erupted in applause, but for Arielle and Kyler, it was a moment of pure, undisturbed bliss.
As they pulled apart, Kyler whispered, “We did it, Hazel. We’re finally married.”
Arielle’s heart swelled with joy. “Yes, we did. And I couldn’t be happier.”
They turned to face their guests, hands clasped tightly together.
The rest of the day passed in a joyous blur of celebrations and laughter. But as the evening drew near, a sense of unease began to creep into Arielle’s heart.
The reception was in full swing, the dance floor crowded with their loved ones.
Arielle and Kyler shared their first dance as husband and wife, lost in their own world. But as the night wore on, Arielle couldn’t help but feel tired than usual.
Kyler noticed her distraction and pulled her close. “Is everything okay?” he asked, concern etching his features.
Arielle forced a smile, trying to push the unease aside. “Yes, just tired, I guess.”
Kyler’s eyes softened. “Why don’t we take a break? Get some fresh air?”
Arielle nodded, grateful for the suggestion. They slipped out of the reception hall and into the quiet garden outside.
The night air was cool and refreshing, a welcome contrast to the crowded, lively reception.
They walked hand in hand, the silence between them comfortable. Arielle leaned into Kyler, feeling his warmth and strength.
Despite the peaceful setting, Arielle couldn’t shake the nervous fluttering in her stomach.
Kyler noticed her tension and stopped, turning to face her. His eyes searched hers with concern. “Arielle, what’s wrong? You can tell me.”
Arielle took a deep breath, gathering her courage. She looked up at Kyler, her eyes reflecting a mix of anxiety and hope. “Kyler, do you like kids?”
Kyler frowned slightly, puzzled by the sudden question. “What do you mean?”
Arielle took his hand and placed it gently on her stomach, her eyes never leaving his. “I’m pregnant, Kyler.”
For a moment, time seemed to stand still. Kyler’s eyes widened, and he looked down at his hand on her stomach, then back at her face. Arielle waited, her heart pounding, for his response. She watched as a myriad of emotions crossed his face—surprise, confusion, realization.
Then, a smile slowly spread across Kyler’s face, his eyes lighting up with pure joy. “I’m so happy, Arielle,” he said, his voice filled with emotion.
Relief washed over Arielle, and she let out a breath she hadn’t realized she was holding. She smiled back at him, tears of happiness brimming in her eyes. “Really? You’re not upset?”
Kyler laughed softly and pulled her into a tight embrace. “Why would I be upset? This is amazing news! We’re going to have a baby, Arielle. I couldn’t be happier.”
Arielle hugged him back, feeling a wave of love and relief. She had been so worried about his reaction, but now, wrapped in his arms, she knew everything would be okay.
After a few moments, Kyler pulled back slightly, his hands resting on her shoulders. “How long have you known?” he asked gently.
“Just a few days,” Arielle admitted. “I wanted to make sure before I told you.”
Kyler nodded, understanding. “I’m glad you told me now. We have so much to look forward to, so much to plan.”
Ten months had flown by since Arielle and Kyler had received the joyful news of their impending parenthood.
Their son who was a perfect blend of his mother’s warmth and his father’s strength, was born with sparkling hazel eyes that mirrored Arielle’s.
Every time she gazed into those deep pools of color, she saw a reflection of herself and the love she shared with Kyler.
As the years passed, their family grew, and soon they were blessed with two beautiful twin daughters.
The girls were full of energy and curiosity, filled their home with laughter and love.
Each day felt like a new adventure, from the chaotic mornings filled with playful giggles to the serene evenings spent reading stories before bed.
Arielle watched Kyler interact with their children, his patience and love evident in every moment. He was not just a husband but a devoted father, guiding their son in building fortresses of blankets and encouraging their daughters as they twirled in their princess dresses.
In the warmth of their cozy home, surrounded by the echoes of joyful laughter and the gentle hum of love, Arielle realized they had built a beautiful life together, one filled with happiness and unbreakable bonds despite the dangers they faced in their life.
