Chapter 222 Paul's Arrival
Chapter 222 Paul's Arrival
Amanda had no clue her crush on Thomas had spiraled into an obsession, teetering on the edge of madness.
The display of immense power not only gave everyone a new perspective on Thomas and Mary but also filled them with hope and anticipation for the future.
Thomas walked over, and Amanda immediately hugged him. "Thomas, I like you so much."
The others saw this but didn't intervene, while Karen was preoccupied with figuring out the best way to eat the Deer Fruit.
Two days passed, and the peaceful atmosphere was shattered by a group of uninvited guests.
Zack, Paul, and Lily, along with a few fierce-looking women, stormed towards Thomas and his group's camp, cursing all the way.
A few days earlier, Mary and Karen had cleverly trapped them with stones, which had left them furious.
After finally escaping their predicament, they were eager to seek revenge on Thomas and his friends but had found no trace of them.
Their anger had only grown, and now that they had finally found them, they were ready for a confrontation.
At that moment, Thomas and Amanda were alone by a quiet stream near the camp, a spot Amanda had chosen.
Sunlight filtered through the trees, warming the ground, and the clear water of the stream flowed gently, with small fish occasionally darting about.
Thomas and Amanda sat side by side on a large rock by the stream, enjoying the rare moment of tranquility.
Amanda leaned gently on Thomas's shoulder, a happy smile on her face, while Thomas held her hand tenderly, talking softly about their time apart.
Just then, Mary came running over, slightly out of breath, interrupting the serene scene.
"Thomas, those people we trapped earlier are here, and it looks like they're out for revenge," she said, a bit exasperated.
Thomas frowned slightly, a hint of annoyance in his eyes. He had finally gotten some alone time with Amanda, only to have it disrupted.
He looked at Amanda, reluctantly letting go of her hand. "Amanda, wait here for me. I'll go deal with them."
Amanda looked at Thomas with concern. "Be careful."
Thomas nodded and was about to get up when Mary stopped him, smiling confidently. "Thomas, you rarely get time alone with Amanda. Let me handle this. I'm not afraid of them now."
Thomas hesitated, seeing the determination in Mary's eyes, and finally nodded. "Alright, but be careful. If there's any danger, call me immediately."
He knew Mary was strong now, not as powerful as him, but still formidable.
Mary turned and headed back to the camp, soon spotting Paul and the others.
Paul's eyes widened with anger when he saw Mary. "Was it you who trapped us? How dare you lock me up!"
Mary smirked, a hint of mockery in her smile. "Who told you to mess with us first?"
Paul's anger flared, and he lunged at Mary with a roar, determined to teach her a lesson.
His fist swung through the air, aiming straight for Mary's face.
But Mary calmly sidestepped, and Paul's punch missed, causing him to lose his balance and nearly fall. He stumbled several steps before regaining his footing.
Lily, standing nearby, watched in disbelief. A sense of foreboding crept over her; Mary seemed different from before.
Mary smiled at Paul's clumsy display, bent down, and picked up a stone from the ground.
She placed the stone in her palm, squeezed it lightly, and then exerted force.
With a crisp sound, the stone shattered into pieces, tiny fragments falling to the ground.
Paul and Zack's eyes widened in shock, their faces filled with fear, and their bodies began to tremble involuntarily.
They couldn't comprehend how someone could possess such strength, crushing a stone with just their hand. It was beyond their understanding.
Mary, seeing their terrified expressions, smiled smugly. "So, what now? If you have the guts, keep coming. I can kill with a single punch now."
She waved her fist menacingly.
George, perched on Mary's shoulder, mimicked her actions, waving his tiny fists, looking both adorable and imposing.
Mary felt proud. She had relied on Thomas before to stand up to Zack and the others, but now she could do it on her own.
The atmosphere grew tense. Paul and the others exchanged nervous glances, fear evident in their eyes. Mary was too powerful now.
Even the women who had come with them were intimidated by Mary's presence, stepping back in fear.
After a moment, Paul gritted his teeth, still wanting to make a final stand, but Zack tugged at his sleeve, whispering, "Let's go. Mary is too strong. We can't beat her."
Paul, though unwilling, knew that fighting now would be pointless.
He snorted coldly. "We'll be back."
Mary laughed dismissively. "I'll be waiting."
With that, Zack and the others left, tails between their legs. Mary watched them go, feeling triumphant.
She knew her newfound strength was enough to protect herself and her friends. Those who had once bullied them would no longer dare to challenge her.
Mary had finally come into her own. After dealing with the situation, she returned to Thomas and Amanda by the stream.
She recounted what had happened, and Thomas nodded, pleased with her performance. Amanda looked at Mary with admiration. "Mary, you're amazing!"
Mary scratched her head, smiling. "It's all thanks to the Deer Fruit. Otherwise, I wouldn't be this strong."
The three of them shared a smile and continued to enjoy their peaceful moment.
The earlier confrontation was just a minor interruption, not affecting their mood at all.
After resting for a while, Thomas, Amanda, and Mary, with George happily darting around them, ventured into the forest, ready for some alone time.
"The weather's great today. How about we catch a sheep and make some lamb chops?" Thomas suggested enthusiastically, his eyes sparkling with excitement.
"Sounds good!" Amanda replied eagerly. She hadn't gone hunting with Thomas and the others in a while and was excited at the prospect.
Her cheeks flushed with excitement. "But sheep run so fast. Can we catch one?"
