Chapter 5
Jordan’s POV
I got home from Oliver’s apartment by some minutes after 12 in the morning, good thing I had stopped along the way and bought myself a carton of pizza since there was no way I was going to be able to be cook myself dinner at this time.
I stepped into my apartment and flopped on my sofa for a few minutes as I got my whole bearings together.
What the hell had I been thinking by allowing my eyes to flutter close when cornered against his door? I know damn well that I had looked like someone expecting a kiss.
Gosh. I am dumb.
So dumb.
I pushed myself to my feet and headed straight to my room to shrug out of my clothes and get into something more comfortable. Once I was done, I carried the carton of pizza to the kitchen and dug out a bottle of sprite from the fridge before placing it beside the pizza on the island before settling into a chair and eating right out from the carton.
Once I was done, I cleared the island and disposed the carton after storing the leftover pizza in the fridge.
I headed straight into my room and flopped on my bed, too tired to take a shower even though I knew I badly needed one. I thumbed my phone open and scrolled through my notifications, still no notification from Derek.
Perhaps he was probably too busy and didn’t see my message. I dropped him another message and was about to drop my phone and drift off to sleep until a notification from an unknown number popped up.
I clicked it immediately and it turned out to be a message from Oliver.
Oliver: Hey Jordan, you’re home already, right?
I bit on my lips to stop the small blooming smile from peeking out.
Jordan: Yeah, I am! Thanks for checking in on me.
I didn’t even expect him to still remember my existence the moment I exited his apartment without even bidding him goodbye properly due to how flustered I was at that moment since he was supposed to be working on something important on his MacBook.
Oliver: Of course! I’m still working on the stuffs I was working on before you showed up, I just decided to check if you got home safely since you did kind of leave here late.
Jordan: I’m sorry I made you cut back on your work <3
Oliver: Hey, it’s fine! We both agreed to meet up, didn’t we? I just tend to forget stuffs like that due to how busy I am on most days, that’s why.
I read and reread his text before slipping beneath the covers and laying my head more comfortably against the pillows.
Jordan: Have you tried putting your appointments in a reminder on your phone? I do that sometimes to avoid forgetting something important.
It only took a few seconds for Oliver to start typing back a reply.
Oliver: I haven’t really considered, actually. But then I think I’ll try it out. Last night wasn’t the only time I’m forgetting an appointment.
Jordan: See? It would be good for you; I just know it.
Oliver: Thank you. Also do you want to hang out later today?
I blinked at the text message. My eyes already heavy lidded with sleep as I processed what I just read.
He wanted to hang out with me tomorrow.
I typed back a reply blindly while yawning, my fingers already feeling way too heavy for me to lift up properly.
Jordan: Um sure? Where do you want me?
“Shit,” I cursed under my breath as I reread the text I had sent without cross checking it.
I started to quickly type that he shouldn’t read too much into the meaning of the text when his own message slid in.
Oliver: Can you make it to a dinner outing? I realized that I didn’t offer you food when you came by yesterday which was hella rude of me.
Oh, that.
Jordan: Oh, it’s fine. And yeah, I guess I can make it... are you sure about it?
Oliver: Of course, I am. Will you come pick me up? So, we can go with one ride instead of two.
Jordan: Yeah, of course. What time?
Oliver: let’s say eight pm.
Jordan: Alright, sounds nice. Now I really have to go, I can lift my fingers properly at this point.
Oliver: Oh, I forgot, sorry! G’nite
I heard the ping of his last incoming message and quickly ghosted my eyes over it but couldn’t bring my hand to pick the phone up. Promising myself I’ll see to it immediately I wake up, I drifted off into a dreamless sleep.

I pulled my apartment door close and locked it as I made my way towards the elevator, I rode the car down the floors, glad that there was no one else in the elevator whom I’ll be forced to have small talks with. I made my way into my car, did my seatbelt, and drove out of the compound once the gate got pushed open.
The roads were on my side this morning and I was at the office in no time, I parked my car in the company’s garage before making my way into the company and using the elevator.
I sank into my seat and drag in a deep breath, it was some minutes after seven thirty in the morning and I haven’t eaten a thing yet, not that I minded since I did eat pretty late on the wee hours of today.
I dug my phone out from my bag to check for any impending notifications, on seeing none I placed my phone back in my back and placed the bag behind me for now since I wanted to sort out the files on my desk firstly.
I was content with my job. I had a very good one that many people competed for six months ago. But Mary and I got the job because, as CEO put it, we both had potential. The pay was very good, I rented the apartment I was currently staying in because I’ve never liked the idea of having a large ass house and being alone, which was also why I didn’t agree to move in with Derek when he purposed the idea.
I had wanted us to get officially married first, then we’d buy a big house together and hopefully start a family together. Derek wasn’t a big fan of children, but I was pretty sure I could change his mind once we got married.
I got to work and continued the research I had done at my apartment last night.
I’d have to schedule a particular day so my assistants and I could go check the site out to have a more visual thing to work with.

I tried not to think about the fact that Derek still haven’t contacted me since the whole of yesterday and now, today. It was seven pm and a Friday, I was currently curled up on my couch as the most recent episode of RUN BTS played on the television hanging on the wall, it was a South Korea variety web series starring the most popular boyband in the whole world: BTS. The weekly episodes consist of the boys playing games and having fun while entertaining their fans as well.
Listening to BTS music was already an obsession which I had no power over at this point, only that Derek hated K-pop and doesn’t like me listening to them, which was why I’ve always made sure not go listen to them whenever he was around me to avoid unnecessary arguments. I had already planned out how it was going to work out when we get married and move in with each other, I was going to try my possible best not to listen to them when he’s around unless I’d use my AirPods. And as for the run BTS episodes, I can just see those anytime I go to see my best friend.
It was some minutes to eight pm, my reminder going off and reminding of my dinner plans with Oliver. I pushed out of the couch and turned off the television before making my way into the bedroom to get ready.
I dressed casually, the way I had dressed last night while going to his house, I only changed the color of my shirt, jacket, and shoes. Once I was done, I flopped on my bed and dialed Derek’s number, it ranged a few times, but no one answered the call, so I stopped dialing it.
I made my way out of my way out the house and locked it before making my way towards the elevator, I rode the elevator with a girl and her boyfriend, if I was going to judge from how they didn’t break their heated kiss even though they weren’t the only ones in the elevator.
Ew.
I mean, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind PDA so long as they weren’t sucking each other’s faces off a few feet away from me. The dude even had the audacity to keep squeezing her ass. Talk about horny dogs.
I couldn’t make my way out of the elevator any faster, which was properly what made me walk into one of the girls I had given a ride last night unintentionally. I quickly steadied her before she could hit the floor and she awarded me with a grateful smile as she got back on her two feet.
“Hey Jordan, didn’t see you walking towards here until you walked directly into me.” She said with a laugh, and I chuckled a little while digging my hands deep into my jacket pockets.
“That wasn’t on purpose, I was trying to escape a couple almost having sex right there in the elevator with me standing a few feet away from them.” I explained with a small shudder.
“Oh my, I guess they thought they were putting up a great show for you.” She replied grimly.
“I wasn’t impressed one bit.”
“That’s probably because you’re too gay, but they had no idea,” she reminded me which made me crack an amused smile.
I shrugged my shoulders. “I don’t know if I’d be impressed either. I’d be more nervous about some homophobic jerk coming in and judging them right there on the spot,” I replied, and she nodded her head in understanding.
“I get where you’re coming from, which is one of the thousands of reasons why I admire everyone in the LGBTQ+ family, including myself,” she informed me and started walking beside me as I made my way into the compound towards where my car was packed in.
“Oh yeah?” I drawled out while giving her a side glance.
“Yeah.” She replied with a little laugh and a lift of her shoulders. “I’m bisexual.”
“Really, that’s amazing!” I gushed out and she smiled wildly at me before glancing down at her feet which were currently doing a cute shuffle on the ground.
“What’s your name again?” I asked since I didn’t remember if her and her friend did give me their names last night or not, and also because I kind of feel like I was going to really like this girl for a friend even though she was still a college student.
“Oh, it’s Maeve! My best friend’s Anna.”
“Cool! You guys free this weekend? We could hang out and stuffs, that’s if you guys really want to.”
“Of course, we are, so far the bills are on you, because we’re a bunch of broke students.” She replied immediately, giving me a warm smile.
I busted out laughing at her level of openness, wasn’t I a broke student who would do anything for free food some years back? I thought to myself as I made to reply.
“Of course, I’ll pay the bills, they’re all on me.” I reassured her as I unlocked my car and got into the driver’s seat.
“Really? Oh my gosh, Anna would be so excited!” She gushed out excitedly and I couldn’t help but laugh at her excitement.
“So, I guess I’ll see you guys tomorrow or Sunday, yeah?” I started the car while talking to her from the window side.
“On Sunday. I take it you’re spending the night away from home tonight since it’s a Friday and all.” She said and grinned wildly at me when I stared at her blankly for a few seconds before laughing and shaking my head, wondering where the hell this open-minded kid has been in all these while since I’ve been living in this apartment.
“Nope, I just wanna go get dinner with a new friend, that’s all.”
“Righttt!” She agreed sarcastically, reminding me vividly of Oliver.
“Later then!” I called out as I started reversing out of my parking spot.
“Bye Jordan!” She called out as I drove out of the opened gate and into the busy streets once again.

I pulled up outside Oliver’s compound and shoot him a quick text telling him I was waiting for him outside. He replied immediately and walked out of the gate in a few minutes time looking like the full course meal. I watched as the leather joggers he wore hugged his hips, thighs, and long legs. He wore a sleeveless shirt with a leather jacket hanging off his right shoulder.
Gosh, this man is hot, there’s no use denying the glaring obvious fact. He stopped outside my car after I honked once to give him a signal. He pulled the passenger door open and sank into the seat before closing the door and turning around to glance at me.
“Hey,” He stated, smiling brightly at me, I blinked a few times, trying to get my brain to function again as I took in how a wild smile made him ten times more breath taking. His curls were currently in a ponytail with only a few curls framing his face in a sexy way.
“Hey,” I replied with a small shrug, my hands still gripping the steering wheel.
“Thanks for coming.” He continued and I chuckled at how cute he sounded.
“Of course, thanks for inviting me as well.” I replied as I started the car once away and pulled out from my spot and into the road.
“Do you have any place in mind?” He asked and I shook my head before shooting him a side glance. “You don’t have a planned place?”
“I honestly don’t, it was a heat of a moment thing. I was thinking we could come up with something together.” He paused before turning towards me and inquiring tentatively, “That’s a bad thing?”
“Of course not, that’s not a bad thing. We can quickly come up with something now.” I reassured him, wondering where his dominating aura was at the moment.
“I was thinking since it’s a dinner, we could get Chinese... do you like Chinese?” He asked again and I nodded my head, a smile dancing across my lips.
I just couldn’t help myself, and of course, he noticed.
“You’re smiling.” He stated which only made me smile harder.
