Chapter 49: Sister's Betrayal

I stood up, tirelessly and exhaustedly and took a look out theough the window. It was dark outside, but the moon's reflection allowed me to see the beauty of the ocean and its gentle waves. Armed men continue patrolling while others guarded the island.

They were extremely vigilant, and I suspected they were assassins. I became terrified at the thought. But I was gradually relieved to realize that Michael would never be able to catch up with the tow of us again.

Whatever the man's plan was, it would fail. But then I was taken back with a flash when I noticed something moving in a far distance.

I looked at it intently, trying to figure out

what it was. My vision was clear, and I was not mistaken; a man was moving on the other side of the beach. It had just emerged from the sea and quickly vanished into the darkness, leaving me blind.

Michael!

I shivered as the name came to me from my mind. Impossible! Michael is able to follow me. No! I dashed to Layla's room, but when I opened the door, she was nowhere to be found. I dashed down the stairs, and the man was most likely in the kitchen. I had to tell him that Michael had followed us and that we needed to defend ourselves, but I had circled the entire house and had not seen Layla.

No! Layla could not be dead yet, right? No. I just had to keep looking for her...

I noticed three armed men enter the room at the same time. I waited for them to come out so I could ask them, but it took 30 minutes and they still couldn't come out, so I mustered the courage to enter.

A library room filled with books opened up to me. I looked around every corner, but there was no one inside.

My brow furrowed until I noticed myself turning the wall of books. I was no longer surprised as it slowly spun around. I knew that Layla liked inventions, which was one of the things I knew about her. But what bothered me was the presence of such a thing.

A white atmosphere greeted me. Nobody. I had a choice between a staircase and an elevator. I could hear people talking as I walked down the stairs slowly. I listened intently, trying to figure out whose voice it was until I realized it was Hers.

I couldn't understand her because she was speaking another language, that was close to another world's. According to the voice I heard answering and agreeing with her, I guessed they were five people talking to her.

"l already sent someone to assassinate Mr. Michael, as you instructed, but he's as quick as the wind."

I was taken back by what I had just heard. I was surprised that as the conversation progressed, I was able to understand the language they were using. I decided to pay attention to what they were saying.

"Find a more experienced assassin. It doesn't matter how much it costs. I want him dead as soon as possible!"

"We've already done that, Highest and leader of our Pack. What happened when we hired the most well-known assassin in Asia? He

went first and killed it by his own hands. You have no idea what a Michael is capable of."

I sighed as I realized what I had discovered. In

that case, I wasn't surprised to hear from them again that Michael was more than a mere human being. That was why, even if they hide under the sea, the monster would still kill us.

God!

"I don't give a fuck!" Layla yelled angrily, "I will kill him with my own hands!"

I came to a halt on the last step, as if the wind was preventing my foot from continuing.

"If Vlov hadn't just sung, we wouldn't have a

problem today. What a waste of time, that old man!"

My heart was pounding, and I leaned against the wall. Why did they get to involve papa in the discussion? Was there anything I needed to know? I began to ask myself a lot of questions. Was Layla in the picture and the whole saga of Papa's dissapearance?

"However, Luna Layla, you made the correct decision. To betray your own father, the Old Alpha of the Moon Pack. He was just a nuisance and now you inherited everything from him."

No!

I was startled by what I heard. I felt like I was

going to fall on the ground for a while, so I leaned close to the wall for support. It sounded like a broken record was playing in my head.

Bertrayed your own father. Biological father?

Submitted your own father to the vampires?

I had just noticed tears welling up in my eyes. Was Layla the wrong person to be with me? Trusted? I mean, was it not Michael who who had faulted us over there? I was perplexed as to why that was happening. As tears streamed down my cheeks, I covered my mouth. My stance caused me to tremble.

"That is the correct thing to do. That old man need to vanish from the scene," she said calmly. As if she was really pleased to have said those words.

"How could you?" I couldn't stop myself from jumping over to where the conversation picked it's peek and had my slap on Layla's face.
