Chapter 262 Chapter 262
DOMINIC

I like the last girl the head chef had sent in.

The thing about the chef, Roma, really is that he tries as much as possible to keep his huge head on his fat neck. It’s of utmost priority to him such that even if I demand for his daughter, he’ll drag her to my bedroom without thinking twice.

Now those are the kind of men you build an empire with.

I’d been sitting by the window, frowning at the ugly, bleeding horizon when I heard the knock on my door. This particular omega was somewhat exciting—I even asked for her name. It’s Sera. I can pick out Sera’s heartbeat even if she’s stuck at the center of a raging tornado. It’s frantic, pulsing like a trapped rabbit caught in a cage.

That fear that I sniff out of her feels my body with so much adrenaline and excitement that even my dormant wolf kicks into life. She has really round buttocks and firm breasts that carries a likeness to Ariana’s, but this only makes me wonder how stimulated my wolf would have been with someone as daring and audacious as Bella.

“Alpha D-Dom,” she mutters and I turn around slowly.

I beckon on her shortly and look away again. A smile curls over my lips when I feel that sharp spike in her heartbeat and the trembling of her breath. She mutters something inaudibly through her quivering lips and drag her feet across the carpet as she crosses the room.

She stands right beside me and for a few seconds, I give her the liberty of breathing some fresh air. My arm shoots out suddenly, grabbing her shoulder as I pull out to me. She lets out a sharp, stifled cry and her body recoils as it hits mine.

I stand behind her, making sure the bulge straining against my pants presses at her behind firmly, then I lean over her shoulders and point at the receding sun. “What do you think?” I whisper into her ear and her entire petite body trembles in my arms, “I don’t bite, Sera. You know that too well.”

“A-Alpha Dom,” she mumbles and takes a deep, labored breath, then she stares out of the window. Before she speaks, she swallows so hard that the strained gulp echoes in the room. “I think it’s beautiful, Alpha—”

“I think it’s ugly,” I say flatly and her body stiffens instantly. I stare at her through the corner of her eyes, watching the color drain from her small, beautiful face.

“R-Really?” she breathes hard, “then my eyes must be the problem. Now that I look at it, it’s really hideous.” She blurts out, her chest rising and falling heavily.

I stare at her for a few seconds and what I had once found adorable suddenly makes my insides curl with disgust. I grab her shoulders, my brows furrowing into a frown as I toss her aside effortlessly. She screams and crashes into the sofa, tripping from it and falling to the ground, but an arm breaks her fall.

My wolf doesn’t start immediately. I stare at the glimmering pair of black shoes and my eyes slowly trace up to the golden head of his belt buckle. I shake my head with a frown, roll my eyes and look away.

“My goodness, Dom, Dom,” he says in that annoying, high-pitched voice, “how would you treat a pretty woman that way?” he gasps, feigning a level of shock capable of being mistaken for empathy.

“Are you okay?” He whispers to her softly, escorting her to the door. Without looking, I can tell that she is shivering with fear and can’t reply. “Take care of yourself, pretty.”

When he shuts the door behind him, he whistles sharply and shakes his head as he walks to my side. “That one has got some ass on her, you know.” He remarks with a grin.

I stare at him impassively, “What the hell do you want, Cage? I told you not to walk into my room without my permission anymore.”

He scoffs and lets his arms drop by his sides, “Oh, come on, Dom, Dom,” he drawls, “I can’t drop by to see my little best friend anymore, huh? Since when do I need your permission to walk into this bloody room, eh?”

“You either have a death wish, Cage, or something very important to tell me.” I remark flatly and cross the room to my desk. I sit down behind it and squint at it. I see the tension in his eyes and I can instantly tell that he isn’t just here for jokes.

“I’d imagined I’d be met with a reception of a dozen naked whores,” he says, shaking his head as he takes his place across the desk, “but well, I think I can make do with whiskey.”

He holds his glass up after pouring the whiskey into two glasses for us and I just stare at him until he drops it.
“You’re no fun,” he says flatly, “And that makes me feel like I will become a liability to you very soon. So…I had an unusual visitor recently, and that made me very curious about what's actually happening in your pack, Dom, Dom. For starters, what’s your Luna doing with Alpha Brad? The same privileged ruler you so desperately want to kill?”

My eyes flicker with surprise and I frown at him, “You fucking idiot,” I mutter, “you’re doing business with him, aren’t you?”

He shrugs with a grin, “I’ll go to hell with you and back, Dom. I’ll fight handicapped, outnumbered, you fucking name it—but I am not going to pass up such a business deal just because you and Brad don’t like fucking each other’s buttholes.”

I stare at him for a moment, at the only man who knows nearly everything about me but has never been scared of it for even a second, “Why am I not surprised? You sniveling bastard.”

“Well, I hear there is a wedding going on now,” he says, “What do you think Alpha Brad will do if he finds out that the Luna he wants to get married to has already been marked…by you?”

My mind goes numb for a second. I look at him, utterly speechless for a moment before I lean forward and ask, “You came here to threaten me, Cage?”

“What? Hell no!” he laughs, then his face goes serious immediately, “I am just saying, I know you’ve got business there and I do not want us intervening in each other’s business. If you know what I mean.”

I stare at him coldly for a few seconds and suddenly, everything becomes clear to me.
