Chapter 261 Chapter 261
ARIANA

It makes no sense.
How can she even think of doing that?

I want to say she’s lying and doing this just so she can get her revenge on me, but the evidence is right before my eyes. There he is, the same son I am committing all of these atrocities for, clinging to my sister like a lifeline. His eyes are terrified of me, but when he looks at her, his eyes glow with hope and trust.

That’s not the look one would give an oppressor or someone who meant them harm. Bella isn’t fooling around or trying to trick me. For some reason, which makes absolutely no sense, she’d actually saved my son!

But why? What does she want?

As a matter of fact, what can she possibly want that’ll make her risk her life by rescuing my son from Dom? That is a suicide wish, a mission I had always thought was impossible before he’d finally decided to let me come here on this mission, but somehow Bella had done it. And she isn’t dead, neither is my little precious gem.

I can’t care less about the wedding or the chaos in the pack. Bella might be back, but with Damien here, I don’t owe Dominic anything. He has no leverage over me and I don’t have to kill anyone else just to fulfil his mission.

Only a few minutes ago, I had been thinking of the perfect time to poison Andrew’s drink and now, all I can think of is reuniting with my son. But my heart aches when I even think of touching him. He hates me because of what I had done and how I had left him.

I look at him now and that’s all I can think of. How red, swollen and teary his eyes had been. How he’d cried them out and begged me not to leave him there with Dominic and all those cold, emotionless omegas. What Damien never got to understand was that leaving him was the most difficult decision I had ever made.

I knew I was leaving my five year old son with a monster and yet I couldn’t do anything about it but turn my back on him before I had changed my mind. I had listened to him crying while I walked away and what hurt me more until this day was the fact that he also knew how much of a monster Dominic is.

Brad frowns at me and shakes his head slightly, “You made no mention of your son, Ariana and you’ve been in this pack for two years. Why? What is all this about?”

I shook my head, my hot tears streaming down my cheeks like a boiling stream, “You’d never understand, B-Brad,” I mumble, my lips quivering as I can’t bring myself to look at my own child anymore. “No one but…” I slowly look up at the same sister I had wronged beyond repair and sigh bitterly, my chest clenching with regret, “only Bella would.”

I slowly rise to my feet, taking a step towards her before my knees buckle. She looks at me with so much disdain. The fire in those eyes burned with years of suppressed anger and it is all justified. I’ve been an absolute monster towards her for the same child she’d just saved.

She’s done the one thing I have always been a coward to do and now, I can’t even deal with the feeling of being in my own skin. I sniffle hard, my breaths hitching as I struggle to get a hold of myself.

Goddess…what kind of a monster am I?

I was willing to take Andrew’s life as coldly as I had taken the other two omegas. My hands are covered in the blood of others only because I had been too scared to spill mine to save my own child.
For fuck’s sake, Ariana. You’re so disgusting!

“Bella,” I mumble, my voice breaking dreadfully, “Bella, please. Just let me touch him,” I sniffle and sigh heavily, my shaky hands reaching out slowly, “please just let me feel him and let me know that he is real, please that is all I am asking for.”

She stares at me coldly and shakes her head. That gesture shatters my heart into a thousand pieces. That gnawing feeling of a desperate, consuming want escalates throughout my body. All I want is right in front of me and the itch in my body drives me to delirium as she refuses.

“You don’t deserve to even see him, Ariana.” she says through clenched, my name sounding like a curse on her tongue, “you left him in the hands of that beast. How could you do that?! How can you be cruel to even your own child? You’re a monster but even to your child?!”

Her loud voice reverberates in my head so loudly that it drives me crazy. I slam my palms against my ears, shaking my head vehemently as if that’ll get the sting of her words out of my head, but it doesn’t. I can’t listen to it anymore, my heart and stomach can’t take anymore of it.

“You don’t understand, Bella…you don’t—I thought you would, Bella…I thought—”

“Understand what, Ariana?!” She bellows at me and a shutter snaps in my head, followed by a loud, resounding ring that lingers for five seconds in my head before exploding into a white light. “You’re not saying anything, are you that much of a coward?”

“I had no choice!” I scream at her so hard that my parched throat begins to hurt instantly. “I had no choice, Bella. It was either I left or he’d have done something to my precious Damien. I couldn’t let anything happen to him, even at the cost of my own bloody soul—I couldn’t…”

Her eyes flicker and for a second, I see that compassion that had defined her personality years ago. She looks down at Damien and finally lets go of him. My tears gush out of my eyes as I see him running towards me.

He wraps his arms around my neck and I break down completely, smothering him so closely to me finally after two months. I look up at Bella after a few seconds, and she stares down at me coldly.

“Thank you, Bella…” I mouth inaudibly.
She folds her arms and looks away with an unforgiving stillness that shatters my heart.
