Chapter 6
Connor’s eyes immediately welled up with tears as he stared at me pathetically.
“No, that’s not–Bella, please.”
“It’s all my fault. I was being stupid, completely lost my mind planning something this insane…”
“Can you please forgive me?”
“You have to believe me, I didn’t mean any harm. I just thought if these reporters came and made a big scene, maybe you’d finally accept
Emma…”
“Bella, I swear, even if you really had cheated, I would never divorce you. I love you.”
I almost threw up listening to this bullshit.
“Love me?”
“You keep saying you love me, but name one fucking thing you’ve done that shows it.”
“You were willing to destroy my reputation with this sleazy setup just to get what you wanted. Did you even think about how this would affect my career? What it would do to my company’s stock?”
“I can’t afford to be with someone as selfish and toxic as you.”
“Connor, you want to play daddy so badly? Fine. I’ll make your dreams come true. We’re getting divorced!”
Connor just kept crying and shaking his head, begging me not to leave him.
His eyes were red and puffy, tears streaming down his face.
In the past, I would’ve melted seeing him cry. I couldn’t stand to see him hurt–I’d usually give in before he even started the waterworks
But now my heart felt like fucking stone.
You can only get hurt and betrayed so many times before you stop being a pushover.
“Ow, Bella, I’m hurt…”
As Connor chased after me, he suddenly pretended to twist his ankle and collapsed dramatically on the ground.
He probably thought this pathetic display would make me feel sorry for him and turn back.
I didn’t even slow down.
I already knew exactly who this man really was.
The first time I mentioned divorce, Connor didn’t believe for a second that I’d actually go through with it.
Behind my back, he told Sofia:” Sofia, you’re the one I really love. Bella will accept this.”
“She’s way too attached to leave me. She worked so hard to win me over in the first place. Plus, two years ago when she found out about my affair, she forgave me immediately.”
“Even knowing I had a baby with another woman, she’s not making a big deal about it. You can see it doesn’t even faze her,”
“I know her too well. She’s just throwing a little tantrum right now. Once she cools off, everything will go back to normal.”

Chapter 6
Well, now he was about to learn what getting slapped in the face feels like.
Seeing me get in my car and drive off without looking back, Connor punched the ground in rage.
He got up and stormed back into the hotel, slapping Jake across the face while he was getting dressed.
“You useless piece of shit!”
“I told you to seduce Bella! All you had to do was lie in bed and put on a show, and you couldn’t even do that right!”
“And why the hell was Sofia in that room instead of next door with Emma?”
Years of me spoiling Connor had turned him into an arrogant, entitled person.
Usually people put up with his attitude because he was my husband.
Even when he pissed them off, they kept quiet out of respect for me.
But now that Connor had publicly tried to humiliate me with this media circus, and everyone could see we were done, nobody was going to kis his ass anymore.
Jake took the slap but wasn’t about to back down. He hit Connor right back.
“Connor, you really think you’re some kind of king? That everyone has to do whatever you say? Who the fuck do you think you are?”
“Here’s the truth–I’ve been sleeping with Sofia for months.”
“You think she stayed single all these years because she was saving herself for you?”
“She just loves to fuck around way more than you know.”
“You probably can’t even imagine this, but last time you were upstairs rocking Emma to sleep? Sofia and I were going at it on your living room couch. How’s that make you feel? Ready to explode yet?”
Connor’s eyes went wide with disbelief, his head buzzing with rage.
“What did you just say? Say that again!”
Too angry to think straight, he grabbed a vase and hurled it at Jake’s head,
“Ah! He’s bleeding! Someone’s gonna die!”
“Call 911!”
