I glanced at Amber, who’d gone pate as a ghost, and let out a cold laugh:
“Don’t be scared–this is just the beginning.”
Ryan, who hadnt said a word since walking in, suddenly headed into the walk in closet.
He turned to look at my cheek, and his expression got even darker than Blake’s:
“Who hit you?”
Even though Ryan always gave me shit and had something negative to say about everything I liked.
When I was planning to marry Blake, he was the only one who showed his disapproval from start to finish.
Back then he’d said: “Little Victoria, pouring your heart out for some guy like that–just watch, hell be the one who hurts you the most.”
rd brushed him off completely, thinking Ryan just couldn’t stand seeing me happy.
But turns out he was right on the money.
My “true love” had smacked me–I wasn’t about to admit to my longtime rival.
So I put on a tough front:
“Nobody would dare hit me! I accidentally scratched myself!”
He was about to say something else, but I grabbed his arm:
“Stop talking! Help me find these diamonds–my eyes are about to give out!”
Marcus wasn’t the type for detailed work, so I didn’t ask him.
– 09.
But he wasn’t gonna just stand around either. Seeing how fun smashing stuff looked, he grabbed a stool and started going to town on the electronics.
Hammer blow after hammer blow thundered through the house, dust billowing up into the air.
The housekeepers had all fled outside, too scared to stay.
Honestly, watching the home I’d personally overseen getting renovated, crumble into rubble bit by bit–yeah, it hurt.
But the house–has been tainted by Amber.
After divorcing Blake, whether I got to keep this place or not, I’d never feel comfortable here again.
Might as well just tear it down.
If Blake’s dad hadn’t made that stupid business call–one that nearly tanked their company back then, the Prescotts never would need a strategic marriage to save themselves.
Maybe I never would’ve married Blake in the first place.
The Prescott family had given us this house as our newlywed home–great location, perfect neighborhood, all the amenities.
And I never settle for less than the best.
I hired a famous interior designer, got three different construction crews working around the clock to get it done.
Since we used only premium materials, even the off–gassing time was way shorter.
Perfect timing for us to move in right after the wedding.
Back then, Dad was worried the Prescotts would look down on me, so he insisted on paying for all the renovations and furnishings himself.
So I felt zero guilt about having the place torn down.
Blake obviously realized this too.
Even though his face was dark as a thundercloud, he didn’t say another word.
But Amber wasn’t having it.
Seeing the workers heading toward the guest room where she’d been staying. Amber screamed:
“Don’t you dare! That’s my room! You can’t go in there!
She grabbed Blake’s arm, shaking it fawningly:
Blakey, stop them! How can you let Victoria act so crazy?!”
Blake, who usually gave Amber whatever she wanted, acted like he couldn’t hear her. Ile just kept staring at me and Ryan working.
With Ryan’s help, finding the diamonds went way faster.
After counting, we were still missing about a dozen. He helped me push aside the display case.
After searching everywhere again, 1 looked at Blake:
Move. You’re in the way.”
This was the first time I’d ever treated him so coldly. Blake’s mouth twitched like he wanted to say something.
sut in the end, he just silently stepped aside.
We found three more diamonds where Blake had been standing.
wo left to go. I looked at Amber:
Get out of the way.”
Amber moved reluctantly.
Finally, I’d found every single diamond from the necklace.
By then, the destruction was almost finished.
ust left the walk–in closet.
tyan helped me organize everything, grabbed my suitcase, and headed out first.
followed right behind him, rushing Blake and Amber:
Hurry up, don’t waste time.”
fter the closet got smashed up, I went through each room to check, one by one.
hen I split money to each of the housekeepers outside:
This should cover compensation for your damaged things.”
