Chapter 3
“Nobody dares to kicking you out!”
Blake said that while staring directly at me.
1 twisted my lips into a cold smile:
“Perfect. She stay? Then I’m fucking out of here!”
I went to the walk–in closet, changed into my sexiest clubbing outfit, grabbed my purse, and walked out without looking back.
Before I got with Blake, I wasn’t exactly a party girl, but I’d hit up chibs with my friends every now and then.
After I fell for Blake though?
I had no clue what type of girl he was into. But one look at that uptight, poker face of his and I knew he wouldn’t want his woman anywhere near a nightclub.
Three years of chasing him, six months of marriage.
I almost forgot how to even find a club.
If I hadn’t called my friend on the way over, I wouldn’t have even known that our old regular spot had changed owners.
Damn, Victoria, how long has it been since you came out to party? Aren’t you scared your ice–king husband’s gonna lose his shit?”
My friend started teasing me since I walked in.
! snapped back:
‘We’re getting divorced anyway, so who gives a fuck!”
The moment those words left my mouth, one of my friends immediately turned off the music in our VIP room.
‘Wait, what happened? Did he cheat on you or something?”
I don’t have many friends, but each one has been with me for years. We know each other inside out.
When I was chasing after Blake, these girls even gave me tons of advice and support.
f Amber could be shameless enough to pull all that crap, then why should I protect her reputation?
So when they asked about this messy situation, I only paused for a split second then spilling everything.
ust like Dad, before I’d even finish, my friends started swearing one after another.
Blake doesn’t strike me as the type to fall for some manipulative bitch. If he’s that obsessed with her, you don’t think the baby’s actually his, do you?”
My heart clenched, and I tilted my head back and knocked back half my
drink:
Doesn’t matter whose it is–I’m definitely getting divorced!”
Between the frustration and hurt, I got wasted pretty quickly.
Obviously I had no idea that Blake called me multiple times that night, or that he’s the one who carried my blackout–drunk ass home.
When I woke up the next morning and saw the familiar surroundings, for a split second I wondered if I’d lost my memory or something.
If my friend hadn’t mentioned in the group chat what happened after I got wasted, I would never have guessed that Blake would come looking for me.
After taking a shower, I walked out of the bedroom with puffy, swollen eyes.
The second Amber saw me, she flashed this sickeningly sweet smile:
“Victoria, you’re awake! Come eat breakfast–Blake was so worried about your stomach that he got up super early to make this himself!”
Chapter 3
Suddenly, what my friend had said in the group that popped into my head:
[Girl did you and Blake have some kind of fight?? He looked 50 stressed about you, Walked into our room looking like he wanted to murder someone but then saw you and went all soft o}
Combined with what Amber just said, my heart wavered for a second.
Maybe I really was making a big deal out of nothing?
Then I saw the porridge in the bowl.
The thought that had just popped into my head, vanished right away.
“What are you waiting for? Eat it while it’s hot?”
Blake and Amber were sitting across from each other at the dining table. Remembered how they were chatting and laughing before I came out. Suddenly I felt like a total third wheel.
“Blake, I’m allergic to seafood.”
The moment words left my mouth, the entire room went dead silent.
I didn’t miss the little smirk of satisfaction that flashed across Amber’s face.
And the rare look of regret crossed Blake’s face.
“Sorry, I’ll go make you something else right now…”
“Forget it!”
I cut Blake off:
“It wasn’t meant for me anyway.”
Whether someone truly cares about you is really obvious.
Amber had been living here for less than two months. Blake not only hired a new chef but also brought in a nutritionist specifically for her.
I clearly remembered Amber mentioning right from the start that she loved seafood. Especially seafood porridge.
But how about me?
During all those years I spent chasing after Blake, I’d told him about my seafood allergy more than once.
Before Amber moved in, we rarely had any seafood at our table.
I thought Blake had actually remembered the foods I’m allergic to.
I was even secretly happy about it.
Now I realize I was just wishful thinking.
