Chapter 6
A week later, I showed up at that house with a pack of reporters in tow.
The second ! threw the door open, we walked straight in on Bryce and Vanessa, half–naked, tangled together like animals. Her shredded blouse was hanging off her like tissue paper–hard to miss.
Real classy–pregnant and still shameless.
But after today’s live broadcast, let’s see how long they can keep pretending.
the reporters‘ eyes went wide like kids in a candy shop, cameras flashing, lenses zooming.
Fanessa shrieked when she saw the press storming in.
the tried to run back to the bedroom, but reporters cut her off, so she yanked a couch cover over herself instead.
ryce fumbled into his jeans, then pointed a finger at me and roared, “Skyler, what the hell is this? Dragging all these clowns to my house first thing in the norning?”
couldn’t help laughing.
Bryce, that’s my line. What the hell is this? You’re my husband screwing my stepmother.”
And since when is this your house?”
I bought this place, the deed is in my name. You ever pay a dime toward it?”
le blustered, “We’re married, so this is community property–you can’t just barge in with cameras like this. You’re violating my privacy.”
is guilty eyes darted everywhere but mine.
Save it. I’ve already filed for divorce, and you can start packing.”
Divorce? Hell no. I won’t sign. I get it–you just want to dump me ‘cause I’m scarred now, right?”
You think I’m worthless looking like this, so you want out? Not happening!”
gave him a look like he’d grown two heads.
mazing how adultery with my stepmother never makes it into his speech.
he reporters were eating it up, some even streaming live, shoving mics at their faces.
Mr. Bryce, can you explain why you cheated?”
Our viewers also discovered you run a little influencer account–mind telling us the truth?”
Mr. Bryce, witnesses saw you assaulting your wife at the fire scene.”
Are you aware that domestic violence is a crime in this state?”
Mr. Bryce, what’s really going on between you and your wife’s stepmother?”
Get out! Or I’ll sue every last one of you for harassment!” Bryce growled, face twisted with rage.
ut reporters don’t scare that easy.
When he clammed up, they turned their mics on Vanessa.
Ma’am, are you here willingly, or did this man force you?”
As Skyler’s stepmother, why are you involved with her husband? Is this revenge?”
anessa collapsed into Bryce’s arms with the fakest faint you’ve ever seen.
