Meeting at Sugar, Savannah and Carson arrived at the same time as Cole, having the gang together at once. Violet and Maeve were almost finished, as Violet chose to close with Maeve today. Maeve, as the manager, had to ensure that everything was securely locked before exiting.
They planned to go out with Savannah tonight to meet Wyatt. She still was not interested in meeting him, but her friends followed all of the rules, so she had no choice. Even though they spoke highly of him, Savannah could not wait for it to be over. Her best friend has already stolen her heart. There was no point in wasting Wyatt's time if it would all be for nothing.
Savannah ended most, if not all, of her relationships because she could not get over Carson. There have been times when great guys crossed her path, but because they were not Carson, she turned them down. She had hoped that he would return someday after he left. She could not wait to see where their relationship would take them now that he had come home.
Unfortunately, Maeve started her shit as soon as they walked through the door. Savannah noticed her eyes light up when she saw Carson. She did what she always does and adjusted her work shirt to show a little cleavage. The minute Maeve saw a guy Savannah was interested in, she pounced. Savannah could not understand why she was always doing this to her, especially since Maeve never did it to guys Violet liked. Savannah was always the focus of Maeve's concerns. It appalled her.
Nonetheless, Savannah could not help but be annoyed when Maeve completely ignored her and went straight to Carson. Savannah tried not to show her emotions, but the way Maeve wrapped her arms around Carson's neck irritated her. She made it a point to put her breasts in front of his eyes. Something Savannah lacked in comparison to her. Carson did not try to push her away, which made her even more annoyed. Savannah could not help but wonder if he was already drawn to her charms.
Thankfully, Savannah was relieved when Violet began speaking. She could always tell when Savannah was stressed or if something was wrong. Violet was aware of Maeve's tactics but did not want to start an argument. They still worked for her and could be fired at any time.
"What are your plans for moving back?" She asked Cole and Carson.
Savannah was interested in this topic because she desperately wanted them to move closer to her. "Do you already have jobs lined up?" She chimed in with curiosity.
The boys appeared uneasy. "Well...after our stay at the hotel, we will technically be homeless," Cole said.
"And jobless," Carson continued.
Savannah had hoped to hear good news, but it was anything but. Her friends would soon be on the street, with nowhere to stay. She wondered why they would make such a drastic change without a backup plan in place. Her parents' deaths were unexpected, but she did not expect them to leave everything behind and return empty-handed. That was extremely irresponsible, but it only enhanced their friendship.
Of course, Maeve appeared again, as if she knew them as well as Violet and Savannah did. She was getting on Savannah's nerves, but she did her best to keep her emotions under control in order to keep the peace. It was a struggle for her, however. She was not sure if it was because they had sex or because she had strong feelings for him before the sex occurred. Savannah only knew that Maeve was a cunt.
"Oh, I know." Maeve exclaimed. "You can stay with us!"
Savannah's eyes widened at the suggestion. They had plenty of room to accommodate them if Maeve dismantled the walk-in closet, she had converted one of the spare rooms into. However, that was not the issue. She would have to see Carson's face every day, with no way out even if she wanted. The atmosphere was heavy with memories of their secret fling, and sharing that space with him again would only serve to reinforce those feelings.
She could not bear the thought of her friends becoming homeless, though. As long as they get jobs and help around the house, everything should be fine. They had already gotten along great. Living together should not be difficult. It will undoubtedly make event planning easier, and rental rates will be lower. She just hated that Maeve was the one who suggested it. Whatever she was planning was bound to irritate Savannah.
Violet's face lit up at the mention of that idea. "Yes, Cole can have the guest bedroom, and if you take everything out of the other room, Carson can have that one."
Cole shrugged. "Sounds good to me." He agreed.
Carson, of course, looked over to Savannah for confirmation. "How about it, baby?" He asked her. "Are you okay with this?"
Carson's soft smile made Savannah feel warm. It is impossible to ignore him, staring with that expression. She was not sure if she would regret the decision, but she agreed with it anyway. When they needed a place to stay, she was happy to oblige. Plus, it would not look right if she was undecided while everyone else agreed.
Savannah smiled back gently and nodded her head in agreement, prompting Violet and Maeve to cheer. Violet's happiness was expected, but Maeve's felt off. Savannah wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt, but Maeve's past has shown that her intentions were never good.
Savannah remained optimistic, not wanting to accuse anyone. Carson, after all, was not her boyfriend. Her jealousy seemed ridiculous to her. If she was not going to admit how she felt, she did not have the right to be jealous of anyone who hit on him. After all, she consented to have sex with him.
Violet and Maeve had to finish closing up while Cole went outside for a smoke break. Savannah, who does not smoke, trailed behind him to get some fresh air. Watching Maeve all over Carson made the room feel stuffy. The feeling that the walls were closing in on her was unbearable. Perhaps she could benefit from a cigarette.
Cole lit his cigarette before realizing Savannah had followed behind him. "Hey, Sav, want to smoke?" He inquired because he was unsure whether she did or not.
Savannah shook her head. "No, I wanted to talk to you about something," she hesitated to bring it up. Would he remember?
He puffed out smoke and looked intrigued. "You used to come and talk to me all the time," he said, laughing.
Her eyes shone with joy at his memory. "So, you remember?" She asked in a cheerful tone.
"About your crush on my oblivious brother? Yeah."
Savannah was relieved not to have to explain everything again. She has never mentioned her crush on Carson aloud since they left. It felt strange coming out of her mouth because that was her closest friend. She did not want to admit her feelings for him out in the open.
Instead, she felt much more at ease talking to Cole. He was always supportive of her and wished for them to get together. Carson felt the same way, but did not realize it. Perhaps he did not want to face his fears about having to commit to something for the first time in his life. Cole was unable to recall the specifics, but he was confident Carson was simply lying to himself.
Savannah folded her arms over her chest, blushing. "Um, well, I may have slept with him," she admitted abruptly, surprising herself.
Cole inhaled too quickly when he heard what she had said. Because of his disbelief, he could not stop coughing. What the hell was Carson thinking? He reflected as he gathered himself.
"What the fuck? Why?" Cole was taken aback by the news and angry at Carson for doing such a thing. He was aware of his brother's behavior toward women and sex. Savannah was the last person he expected to use in that way.
Savannah bit her lip, worried that she had made a mistake. "I apologize, I did not mean to blurt it out like that," she said. "I am just... I am not sure what to do," she admitted.
"What do you mean?" He gave her a curious look.
"I kind of want to do it again."
Savannah could not explain why she wanted to go at it with him again. The feel of their bodies together created the perfect harmony. Her lips on his skin sparked electricity throughout her veins. His muscular build made his grip tighter than expected, but she enjoyed every moment of it. His large hands perfectly traced her curves, something no other guy could do. She never considered him a sex partner, but that could change.
Savannah, on the other hand, could not trust herself to keep her emotions in check. Confessing to him now seemed daunting, but he made her promise not to be weird about it. Would telling him how she felt make things awkward? Casual sex should not be harmful to anyone, but given the complexities of their friendship, it could prove disastrous.
Cole put out his cigarette, unsure if it was a good idea. But he was not going to tell her not to do it. This was her life, and she needed to figure out what she wanted for herself. Carson will undoubtedly approve of the arrangement. But how long could Savannah hold out? Casual sex did not imply he would only sleep with her.
"If this is what you want, then go for it," Cole said, shrugging his shoulders.
Savannah looked at him, surprised that he would say that. "You don't think I'm going way over my head?" She asked. "Will my feelings not get in the way?"
Cole sighed and rested his hand on top of her head. "That is for you to decide, Sav." He smiled. "Just be careful and know that you can come to me at any time."
She smiled back at him and went for a hug. She knew she would have to tread lightly in this situation. Carson would not mind because this is ideal for him. Savannah wanted to be sure she could handle this without letting her feelings for him get in the way. She wanted to have fun for once in her life without worrying about labels.
But first, she had to get through her date with Wyatt tonight.
