A fresh hire glanced at us before turning to face Hiro and me. "Sorry to disturb your happiness, ma'am and sir, but..." I furrowed my brow. I felt a knot of nervousness form in my chest. I sensed that there was a problem. We were startled when the man murmured and abruptly rose up, but before he could do so, we heard something that we could confirm.
"She is my daughter-in-law! Let go of me!" A familiar roared, expressive, and deep voice like Raven was familiar. "I'll sue you all!" The man growled. I suddenly stood up, and even Hiro stood up. We put the children behind us.
"Mom," Rayden looked up at me confusedly, but I signed him a silent one, so he shut his mouth.
"Oh, there he is, my daughter-in-law Cbiara." He approached me but my men suddenly backed up. So he just laughed at himself. "Do you want to know why I came here?" The two of us were still silent, even those maids around us that I knew were hidden. "I came here to confirm if I had fvcking grandchildren with Ashton!" He's already drunk; from his movements and way of speaking, you can tell right away that he's a bit tipsy.
My dad's right hand pushed Mr. Smith gently, saying, "Get out of here, Mr. Smith; you're drunk." Mr. Smith simply shook his hand. That's what I hope doesn't occur. I hope he keeps his mouth shut because I will bring him low.
I'm confident that no one else knew he was going here because he wasn't even accompanied. I wonder who told him about me. Why, my God, do they trouble me so much?
"You are not the owner of this house, so don't send me away." He hissed and beamed at me, but I glared at him. Once he makes any conversation about me again, I'll beat him up if I have to. "Cbiara didn't say anything, so you don't need to send me away," the old man said, and he sat on the chair as if we were nothing to him while our hearts were pounding so fast.
I held tightly to Rayden's hand. I don't need to think about other things; I need to breathe so everything would be fine.
"You may say what you want, sir, and leave if you are done," he told me the first time I set foot in their house. I also imitated him. A playful smirk flustered through his lips; he seemed to remember that he had said such a line to me before.
"You have a sharp memory, or maybe you planted that in your mind and have a plan to tell me, am I right?" He's wrong; I never thought of returning to him what he did to me before, but things work where they belong.
"Do you remember that day, sir?" I asked him back. He was shocked by my question, but he seemed to know immediately what would be my next move, but I didn't do it. "You shove me away even without looking at me; unlike you, I have some respect, and money can't buy me."
"Are you saying that money can buy me?"
"Why are you here? I bet it's not because you know me and your son had kids but because you want to know if my father is indeed wealthy." By how his expression changed, I immediately got what he wanted. How did I know? He didn't elaborate on the discussion about the kids; he didn't insist on where his eyes went every time he spoke.
"You're brilliant like your mother," he said, amazed at what he witnessed, but isn't it given because my parents are both smart, unlike him, who are not gifted? Just insisting that he is smart yet he is not, I felt there was something he wanted to explore, but I remained clueless.
"What do you want after confirming my father's wealth? Aren't you satisfied? You still want to tour the whole house? A lot of gold and diamonds are stuck in our zigzag room if you want to know. My dad is wealthier than you; unfortunately, he always expanded you." He suddenly stood up, as if he wanted to attack me. Raven held him, but I will face him bravely.
I was attempting to divert his attention while also trying to be courageous for the kids so I wouldn't come across as frail. I'm not sure what he'll do if he finds it; we continue to battle until he loses and backs off.
He walked closer to me, but Raven was able to thwart him. "Damn, I don't know what Raven and Roux saw in you. You're just a nobody like some other girls; there's nothing special about you. If we talk about money, they can earn that; if we talk about beauty, yours is not that unique, and even your body's not like before. So why are my children so crazy about you?" He was asking me and I don't know the answer.
I'm not afraid that he will lay hands on me because I can fight him, but not when he finds out about my kids.
"Maybe because I don't pressure them, unlike you, you just interfere with them, so they gradually lose you and choose me." I stated the fact that if he is not too strict, then there's no rebel, just like my experience.
If my father and mother weren't that strict with me, then nothing would happen, but it's my fault because I became impulsive. I want to feed my curiosity, and when it's paid off, I'm the only one who's miserable in the end.
"Shut up! You don't know what I did to be a good father to them, so you have no right to tell me that!" He roared, and it echoed into this house. I felt Rayden move, so I suddenly lost focus and didn't know what to do. Damn it, why does it have to be like this? "I'm sorry for shouting, but please don't make my head hot; I'm hot-tempered." I smiled sweetly when he apologized; I just had to ride whatever he wanted.
"That's fine, sir; I won't do it again, sir." I politely replied with a sweet smile at him.
"How lovely you are, hmm, interesting." Suddenly the hair on my neck stood up to the way he looked at me and his smile. It was horrible, but even so, I smiled back at him.
“You are making us all uncomfortable sir.” I faked a cough when Hiro didn't think twice and told me.
"What? Why?" He sighted me. "Do I, Cbiara?"
"Absolutely not, sir."
"Not really; what are you fighting for, Mr?"
Hiro elbowed me, so I took a glimpse at his back and saw Red doing something behind him. I want to scold him, but he'll react, and that old man will notice. Damn it, I don't know what to do. I tried to calm my face and catch the man's attention, but I was already upset.
"We have a walk, sir, so can we excuse ourselves?" Hiro interrupted, and when he couldn't take it anymore, I turned to him and winked at me.
"Oh, then that's fantastic!" He exclaimed, “I wanna be with Cbiara for a moment.”
"Fine, sir, so...you go first, and I'll just change." I looked right into Dad’s eyes and hoped that he would get what I wanted to express. Good thing our minds connected things like this, so he quickly got what I wanted to happen.
"Let's go, sir, to the garage." When they went out, I immediately made my kids go to their uncle's room and give them some advice.
"Babies,"
"Who's that mom? He's scary. Is he our grandpa?"
"And he doesn't like us, mom?" My heart twisted hearing that from them, so I shook my head.
"No baby, nobody deserves to be unlike. We love you," I kiss them. "But for now you must stick with your uncle here no matter what because Mommy still needs to take care of something, isn't it great?" I caressed their heads. I was trying my best; no tears would come out of my eyes.
"Mom, will you be okay? I have a gut feeling with that old man," Red commented.
"That's bad, Red; you shouldn't say that, okay?" I look up at Hiro, and he looks scared of what might happen. "Hiro, take care of them, okay? You take care of them while I try to distract him."
"You know what I could do for your kids, so you don't have to worry." He tapped my back, and I had a lot of trust in him, so I quickly went to my room and then got dressed formally.
When I came out, they waited, and I beamed at the person in front of me. I stepped closer and closer to him; my heart couldn't stop beating so hard that it seemed like my heart was about to break.
