Chapter 40 Bribed

"Morning Mr Lincoln" He greeted him

Runa arranged her clothes very well when she saw Bremo.

"Morning, come and sit down and have breakfast" Lincoln said.

Bremo didn't even glance at Runa, he sat down next to Arci.

"Did you sleep well?" He asked her

Arci smiled at him brightly, and gave a nod.

"Have more" he put food in her plates.

"We'll go to work in awhile" He told her .

"Okay" Arci smiled.

Dawn looked at them she didn't comment and just glanced at Lincoln, "Darling, have more porridge" she told him.

"Okay, Bremo Commander Richard just called saying that he wants Arci to be your foreign language secretary and that the procedure have been completed" Lincoln said.

"Mr Lincoln, i talked to commander Richard and he agreed to let Arci work as the secretary" Bremo told him.

"He said that Arci is observing mourning for her mother and that he is sorry for kidnapping her so he feels it's better to let Arci work as your foreign language secretary to avoid embarrassment" Lincoln said.

"Commander Richard went back on his word" Bremo said.

"Bremo actually whether Arci or Runa can work as your secretary as long as you get used to it" Dawn smiled, everything she was trying to say was obvious she wants Runa to go instead of Arci.

"Mrs Lincoln, the command has high requirements on the foreign language secretary proficiency in English, Japanese, and Chinese. I'm afraid that Runa is incompetent at the Job" Bremo replied politely.

"Bremo, i was poor in my studies but I've worked hard to catch on, moreover, without letting me have a try how do you know I'm in competent?" Runa asked aggrievedly.

"Runa, this is a job not a game" Bremo replied.

"Bremo, there is something you don't know when Runa works hard she is really clever just give Runa a chance" Dawn tried to convince him.

Arci smiled bitterly, and glance at Bremo "Bremo, since Runa wants to have a try let her try, Anyway I'm tired today so i can have a good rest" Arci smiled.

"Right, Arci you don't look well these days since you came back from America you've been busy with your mother's funeral you must be really tired. I'm stewing top grade red bird's nest when it is ready I'll get it for you" Dawn said.

Runa smiled proudly she couldn't wait to be alone with Bremo.

She already Bribed Richard when she heard that Arci was going to work as Bremo secretary. She bribed him, giving him $50 thousand dollars.

That was why Richard went back on his words. She knew that Richard would be bought easily with money.

"Thank you Auntie Dawn" she replied

"Don't mention it" Dawn smiled contendedly

"Bremo, have more we'll go to work in awhile" Runa said.

Bremo dropped his chopstick, "I'm full take your time" he said and stood up from his seat.

He walked out of the Lincoln house.

"Dad, mom i have to go too" Runa stood up and hurried after him.

"Bremo wait for me" She said and ran after him

Lincoln watched and he didn't say anything, he continued eating.

Runa met him on the doorway and held his hand.

Bremo glared at her, he feel disgusted just looking at her smile.

He continued walking without looking at her.

When he got to where his car was parked, he glanced at him.

"Let me open the car door for you" He told her

She gave a nod

Bremo removed her hand from his.

He opened the seat at the back door and closed the car door when she entered.

He walked to the seat beside the driver and sat down, he didn't want to sit with a vicious girl. Although he wasn't against the engagement because he neither liked her nor hated her, now he hates her because of what she tried to do to Arci.

"Bremo sits in the back," Runa said.

"Drive" Bremo told the driver, he ignored the Runa.

When they got to the command.

Richard was looking at them as they got down from the car with Richmond behind him.

"There comes, Miss fifty thousand dollars" Richmond said mockingly.

Richard smiled.

'Ringgg'

Richard's phone rang.

He removed it from his pocket and picked it.

"Hello? Isn't today your first day on the job? Why haven't you arrived?" Richard said teasingly.

"Stop pretending, I want to ask you something, Let's meet at the usual place" Arci said.

"Okay" Richard replied and hung up.

Richard drove there fast; he couldn't wait to see her face. He already missed her.

He got there in ten minutes.

"When you were about to get the Job, Your sister really went too far," Richard said.

"Drop your act, Do you know how important it is for me to work as the secretary?" Arci asked.

"Of course I know, Working as the secretary in the commander you'll have a totally different status in the Lincoln family," Richard replied.

"Since you knew it, you still did that? Did Runa give you money?" She asked And glared at him.

"Yes, you guessed it right. But your sister was so generous that I couldn't refuse" Richard said.

"Commander Richard, You cracked your brain to cooperate with me and made a few rules to be observed by both of us. The first rule is unity against others on the terms of mutual trust. I didn't expect that you'd go back on your word just to get such a small amount of money" Arci stared at him accusingly.

Richard sighed he doesn't want to explain things to her because he is doing it for her own good.

"That is not a small amount of money, That is $50 thousand dollars, why couldn't I take it?" Richard said.

"After what happened when I kept vigil for my mother's funeral, I thought you were a reliable ally. I never thought you would turn against me so quickly . We have different things and we have different minds. Let's separate and go different Ways" Arci said and turned to walk away.

She took a few steps before stopping, dipping her hand into her pocket and bringing out the Talisman she requested at the mountain.
