Chapter 58

Lord Colton chased after Lannah, the fairy warrior who dared to cloak their path for some time now. The blood smell coming out of her allowed him to chase the legendary fairy. On of Lord Colton's feral wolf who was the closest arrived near the scent, it first stopped a couple of meters away from it, then sneakily advanced and jumped from a nearby icy bush toward the smell, since it was the thick frigid wilderness and with many bushes and high trees, it couldn't see the mostith its eyes, but it had confidence in its sense of smell.

Suddenly, Lanna stopped running. The feral wolf may be clever creatures, but by no means did they have a judgment equal to humans, her stopping doesn't make them understand suspiciously or anything of the sort.

However, what dealt it was only the ragged and bloodied cloth, it was on the ground and smelled of blood, the feral stared at it, then unexpectedly, it went through severe anguish in its back, it staggered for a bit, but the pain became more and more drastic, it went through quickly on its back, so the beast attempted to shake it off, but to no avail, the further it moved, the more the pain amplified.

Lannah used her fairy cloth as a means to lure the feral, with a poison ale on her system, her fairy magic and wings were not accessible, so she climbed a high tree and waited for the beast, even without the cloth, they could track her, but her fairy tunic was full of blood, so their attention would probably be focused on the cloth because of the strong scent.

However, the incredible thing was that her guess was accurate, the creature tried to sneak on her and jumped on the bloody clothing, so he took the moment of confusion to jump from the tree at the feral, with the force of gravity and all her strength, the blade went farther into the creature's back, which was a great thing, more than half its strength disappeared.

"Enough, all of you leave the fairy alone, leave her to me." Yelled someone.

Lannah wasn't surprised. She even grinned and reached out the bloody blade from the serious wound at the back of the feral, but that wasn't the end, she stabbed again on the same place, forming blood gush out, it poured on her hands, feet, and face forcing her to look horrible, with her smirk, she looked like a ghoul, however, she doesn't care, her whole priority was on the creature then she glanced at the man who ordered them to cease.

"Who are you?" Lannah asked.

"I'll be the one to kill you fairy" The corner of Lord Colton's mouth quirked up.

A raw pause hung in the air. Then Lord Colton delivered a delightful grin. "My father, the high leader of the south, was a cruel master of viciousness. He was an immoral dictator. He accepts one sacrifice and rejects another. And Why? I offered him the fruits of the bounties he made me. But it was not good enough for him. He demanded it his way or by no means. He wanted a blood sacrifice, he wanted the legendary fairy's blood and he wanted all their accomplices dead as well and so here I am."

"You can't defeat the Moon, and the Royal Wolf descendant."

"I don't care, bitch! I can kill him and I will enjoy every minute of it." A hefty arrogant smile cracked Colton's face.

"You can't…"

"Who says I can? With dark magic with me, anything is possible. Do you believe me now?" Colton added, brewing a murky shadow within. It's cries echoed the canopy above.

Lannah shivered. Dark magic. That's why she could sense it but could see him earlier, this Lord was using dark forces and she wondered how she did it. Lannah felt as if she were watching into the face of the sin itself, stopping at her feet, "I can easily kill you little girl because at this very moment your mind was no longer your own." Lord Colton added. "But why not change loyalty? I can give you power beyond your imagination. Imagine a land of true likeness, where all men and women are gods, all creatures divine and everybody lives forever." Colton taunted. "...Imagine that little girl?" where evil never dies, Colton thought to himself. He realized such assertions to "equality" without the maker led to genocide by those who controlled for equal opportunity. They never conveyed their power once they had it, just like his father. The first taste of dark magic would turn anyone into selfish and keep it from everybody else. Yet he needs this fairy's blood. So he lied more. "...Imagine the absolute freedom from all hope on a heavenly maker who tells us what we can and cannot do." And he reckoned it did not get worse than that.

Lannah remained in her trance of pity, something inside her stirred as she listened to his lie.

Lord Colton concluded his speeches, "Meanwhile, you will be the hero." He grinned, as he stepped further and nearer to the immobilized fairy.

Lannah seemed unable to move. She recognized something profound inside her, her death is near. Lord Colton will kill her, she thought.

Lady Maria's Cottage

Lady Maria was struggling, God knows she was striving, but she couldn't feel a damn thing. It's like when she went underwater, and she shuts her eyes. Everything in the world ceases to exist somehow. The only thought she heeds was the beating of Lady Maria's heart and the thoughts on her mind, and if she doesn't touch the surface, she feels her lungs craving for oxygen, burning because she couldn't breathe. If only she trusted her friend more.

That's how she knows everything. She could only hear the echoes of prior voices on her sanity, and sometimes it's hard to live, but the rest of the world doesn't matter anymore. Nothing matters right now. She felt the beating of her heart; nothing less, nothing more.

She knew at the moment Lady Magda was now trapped in the Icy Cavern and only Harry could release her from the frozen curse. However, the notion of her mentioning that to any of the two gives her a shiver. Lady Maria reminded herself to never speak of it to anyone.

But her concern for Anna was perceptible, Harry had physical contact with Lady Magda and she knew that the latter was a brilliant sorceress; she wouldn't be imprisoned in that icy cavern for long. Yet, the oddest thing was the monstrous nature of those who came in contact with her. They become the 'dark mirrors' of herself- seeking to destroy what was within. She felt that Lady Maria had no compassion anymore, no tenderness, or kind spirit to steer Harry's hand and heart and to fashion his thoughts. She wished Anna and Harry's affection for each other would be enough to fight for Lady Maria's curse.
