Chapter 73: Unexpected Guest
Chapter 73: Unexpected Guest
Nelly
The tranquility of Blancvue Mansion was shattered by an unexpected visitor banging on the front door in the dead of night. We stirred from our slumber, our hearts pounding with a sudden, intense fear. We glanced at each other, wordlessly communicating our decision. We would face this together, whatever this was.
Vincent rushed to the door, and the rest of us close behind. He flung it open, revealing a tall, broad-shouldered man, his eyes a piercing blue, his hair a silver-white, confined to his head, unlike most vampire hunters who sported long, unkempt tresses. He held a crossbow aimed at Vincent's heart, a silver-tipped arrow nestled in the groove.
"Vincent," the man declared, his voice cold and hard. "I've come for you, vampire. And your little gang of misfits."
I gasped behind Vincent, my hands clenching into fists at my sides. Vincent smirked, his eyes flashing with a sudden, intense hunger. "Ah, a hunter," he drawled, his voice deceptively casual. "How quaint. And what, pray tell, do you think you're going to do, little man, against me and mine?"
The hunter's eyes moved past Vincent, taking in me, Alec, and Quinn. His gaze lingered on Quinn, a hint of recognition flashing in his eyes. "Quinn," he acknowledged stiffly. "I've heard tales of your kind, wolf. But a werewolf and a vampire, bound together?" He shook his head. "It's not natural, and it won't stand."
Quinn stepped forward, a low growl rumbling in his throat. "You threaten my family, hunter. And I will make you regret it."
The hunter scanned them, his gaze landing on Alec. "And you, vampire. You stand with these... abominations?" He spat the word, his eyes filled with a sudden, intense hatred. "You are weak, just like the rest of them."
Alec stepped forward, his hands balling into fists at his sides. "This has nothing to do with strength, hunter. It has to do with love. And our love will not be threatened, not by you, not by anyone."
The hunter scoffed, raising his crossbow. "Love, you say? Then let's see if your love can stand against this." He launched the arrow, the silver-tipped projectile flying straight and true towards Vincent's heart.
But Vincent was ready, his hand flashing out, catching the arrow mid-flight. He held it, his eyes locked with the hunter's, a sneer curling his lip. "Is that all you've got, hunter? I must say, I'm disappointed."
The hunter's face darkened, his body tensing, ready to strike again. But I stepped forward, my hand reaching out, resting on Vincent's shoulder. "Enough," I commanded, my voice filled with a power that made them all pause. "We will not fight here, not tonight. Leave now, hunter, and we will forget this little... misunderstanding."
The hunter's eyes flashed with shock and surprise. He looked between them, his gaze lingering on me, a sudden, intense respect shining in his eyes. "Very well, Nelly Gordon," he agreed softly. "But know this - your time is limited. Your little... arrangement, it can't, it won't, last. And when it falls apart, I will be here to claim my prize."
With that ominous promise, the hunter turned and stalked away, his silhouette fading into the night. We watched him go, our hearts pounding, our minds racing. We knew, with a sudden, aching certainty, that our love, our bond, was far from secure. And we knew, just as certainly, that we would face the hunter again, soon. I turn to them. “When he returns, let me kill him. I wasn’t the best human assassin for nothing. He doesn’t fully know who he is hunting. We aren’t normal. Remember, only blood loss can kill me.”
Vincent growled. “Nelly, no. We can’t risk it. Just because you think your parents’ experiments altered our DNA, it doesn’t mean we are eternal. I won’t risk losing you.”
Back in my chambers, we sat in stunned silence, the weight of the hunter's threat hanging heavy in the air. I looked between them, my eyes filled with a sudden, intense determination. "He's right, you know," I said, my voice steady and strong. "Our bond... It's not 'natural'. And if we're to face him, to protect each other, we need to understand it. Really understand it."
Vincent reached out, his hand capturing mine, his thumb stroking my pulse point. "I agree, Nelly. But how? How can we possibly understand something so... so..." He paused, searching for the right word.
"Unique," Alec supplied, his eyes filled with distant memories. "Bound by blood, bound by desire. It's not... something that can be explained with words."
Quinn looked between them, his expression thoughtful. "There is a ritual, an ancient one. The Blood Bond. It's said to bind mates together, their blood mixing, their lives shared. If we accept it, it could... it could give us the insight we need."
My heart raced at the thought of such a binding, such a commitment. But I also knew, with a sudden, aching clarity, that it was the only way. "Do it," I whispered, my voice filled with a sudden, intense conviction. "Let's do it. Together."
Vincent's eyes searched mine, seeking the truth in my words. Finding it, he nodded, his hand reaching out, capturing Alec's and Quinn's. Alec and Quinn joined hands, their fingers entwining, their grips tight. I reached out, my hands capturing Vincent's and Alec's, linking them, binding them together.
And then, as one, we spoke the ancient words, our voices echoing through the room, our love, our desire, our commitment, binding us together, sealing our fate. As the last syllable faded away, the air around us shimmered, and we knew, with a sudden, aching certainty, that our bond had been forged. It had been sealed, in blood, in desire, in love.
As the impact of our ritual sank in, Vincent stood, his hands reaching out, capturing mine, Alec's, and Quinn's, pulling us to our feet. "We've done it," he whispered, his eyes filled with a sudden, intense hunger. "We've bound ourselves together. And now... now, there's only one thing left to do."
My heart raced as I looked between them, seeing the love, the desire, the promise in their eyes. I knew what Vincent meant. And I knew, just as certainly, that I was ready. Ready to give myself to them, to love them, to be loved by them, in every way possible. As one, we moved, our bodies pressing together, our hands exploring, our mouths capturing, our love consuming us.
We tumbled onto the bed, our bodies entwined, our love, our desire, our bond, uniting us, completing us, binding us together, now and forever.
