Chapter 26

Marcella

I sat on our bed completely drained of life. What little hope I had that my bakery was intact was gone. Dom's confirmation killed it. It was stupid of me to still hold onto that part of my life which I was never going to get back but I hope to visit the past someday. A tear ran down my cheek and I had no strength to wipe it away.

The click of the door made me look and seeing him the single tear turned into a whole waterfall as I realized that all my hard work, my passion, had been reduced to ashes

It was selfish of me to blame him for something that was out of our control, but I needed an outlet for my grief and frustration. And now, faced with the reality of the destruction, I felt lost and hopeless.

As Killian came closer, I could see the guilt in his eyes. I wanted to lash out at him, to scream and shout, but I knew it wouldn't change anything. The damage was done, and there was nothing we could do to turn back time.

I took a deep breath and turned to face Killian. "I'm sorry," I whispered, my voice barely above a whisper. "I know it's not your fault."

Killian reached out and took my hand, his touch offering me a small sense of comfort in the midst of chaos. "We'll get past this," he said softly. "Together."

I nodded and moved to lay my head on his shoulder. He didn't stop a second in turning my head and placing a kiss on my lips. It started out slow and gentle but right now I could not stand that. I wanted to feel good. I moved to straddle him and deepened the kiss to a point where our teeth clashed. Our breaths became ragged as we lost ourselves in each other, the world outside momentarily forgotten.

Killian pulled back slightly, his forehead resting against mine. "Marcella," he breathed, his voice thick with emotion. “It might not be the same, but we can make something new, something just as beautiful."

I nodded, unable to find the words to respond. Instead, I kissed him again, pouring all my pain and hope into that one act. It was a promise, a vow that we would get through this together, no matter how broken we felt right now.

I moved to his zipper when he pulled away again. “I can't believe i’m about to say this but wait.”

My eyebrows furrowed. “What? Why.”

Something gleamed in his eyes and he lifted me with so much ease. His simple strength turned me own further and annoyed me more that he was stopping me right now.

He moved to our walk-in closet and started pulling out mine and his clothes. “What are you doing?”

“I’m taking you away.” He said with his rare smile. It took me a second to shake my head and refocus from his smiling lips.

“What do you mean? Where are you taking me?” I moved off the bed and walked towards him seeing him zip one suitcase of his things and pull out another for me.

He moved towards the bathroom and like a fool I followed him. After he was done collecting our toiletries, he turned and smiled wider when he saw my confused face. He moved forward and pressed a deep but quick kiss on my lips. “I think its time to take my wife of a very well deserved honeymoon.”

Shock and excitement rushed through me. It was mainly focused on the fact I was finally leaving his estate. I wrapped my arms around him tightly and my voice was well above the normal level. “Where? Oh my God it doesnt matter. Thank you so much.” I kissed his cheek, neck and wherever I could reach with my arms tightly around him.

He laughed and hugged me tighter for a second before he went on the task of packing our stuff.

Immediately a thought rushed through my mind and I voiced it. “But what about Tony? And Anastasia?”

His face suddenly lost its lightness and I immediately regretted my question. “Jonah will take care of everything until we are back. Tony isn't going anywhere and neither is your sister.”

“But what about the nephew?” I really needed to shut up but the question just flew out of my mouth.

“Not your problem baby.” He finished zipping my bag too and moved towards me. “Just be worried how we will not be doing anything beside fucking each others brain out for the entirety of this trip”

Amused by his words, I playfully said. “Maybe I should deprive you of me like you just deprived me of you.” I raised my eyebrows at him suggestively.

His eyes turned predatory but he didn't move from his spot. “Try keeping that body from me mia belleza. And see what happens,”

A laugh escaped me, feeling incredibly happy after very long.

“Get ready baby, I’ll have the jet prepared.” With a squeal I rushed to the bathroom and started the shower.

And in that moment, I realized that maybe there was still hope. Maybe my bakery was gone, but as long as I had Killian by my side, we could move forward. Stronger, together. And with that realization, a small spark of hope ignited within me, guiding me towards a brighter future. I know for a fact I am completely and whole hearted in love with him and I will not be able to hide my feelings for long.

As the water cascaded over me, I let the warmth seep into my bones, washing away the remnants of despair. I couldn't believe what was happening. The bakery was my dream, and losing it felt like losing a part of myself. But Killian's unexpected plan breathed new life into me. Maybe this was exactly what I needed to heal and start anew.

I stepped out of the shower, wrapped a towel around myself, and began to pack the essentials Killian hadn't already grabbed. My mind raced with possibilities of where he might take me. Somewhere sunny? A quiet, secluded cabin? It didn't matter; all that mattered was that we were leaving, and I was with him.

When I finished packing, I dressed quickly and found Killian already waiting by the door, his phone in hand as he arranged our transport. His efficiency always amazed me, but today, it was a lifesaver.

He looked up as I approached, his eyes softening when they met mine. “Ready?”

“As I'll ever be,” I replied, trying to contain my growing excitement.

I rushed down the stairs. The prospect of leaving the house was exciting and so freeing. I heard Killians laugh behind me but i didnt stop. I stopped at the kitchen and saw Rose making dinner. “Rose!” I rushed to her and hugged her. My happiness had no bound at the moment.

“I wanted to say bye because Killian is taking me for our honeymoon.” Rose smiled at me so softly, I melted in her arms like a baby would at the arms of her mother.

She cupped my face and said, “Enjoy my child. But I want you back fast. This place will be quiet again with you gone.” I smiled and nodded at her, giving her another hug and rushed out the door all the while Killian was right behind me.

I asked him as we rushed out the door. “Where are Jonah and Dom? I want to say goodbye to them aswell.”

He laughed and wrapped an arm around my shoulder pulling me in. “Baby they are currently occupied. And you will see them in two days so dont worry about it.”

He opened the door for me and I moved in. We made our way to the private airstrip, the drive filled with a comfortable silence, each of us lost in our thoughts. Mine were mostly filled with excitement of how this trip will go. This was going to be my first every plane ride and you could say I was over the moon excited, When we arrived, the sight of the sleek jet waiting for us sent a thrill through me. This was real. We were really doing this.

Killian guided me up the steps and into the luxurious interior. Once we were settled, the engines roared to life, and soon, we were airborne, leaving behind the ashes of the past.

As the city disappeared below us, I turned to Killian. “So, where are we going?”

He grinned, that rare, boyish grin that always melted my heart. “It's a surprise.”

I rolled my eyes playfully but couldn't help the smile that spread across my face. “You and your surprises.”

He leaned in, his lips brushing mine. “Trust me, you'll love this one.”

The flight was smooth, and we spent it wrapped in each other, talking about everything and nothing. It felt good to reconnect, to remember why we fell in love in the first place. With every mile that passed, the weight of our recent losses lifted just a bit more.

Eventually, the jet began its descent, and I looked out the window to see a stunning island below us. Pristine beaches, lush greenery, and crystal-clear waters stretched out as far as the eye could see.

Killian watched my reaction, his smile growing. “Welcome to our new beginning.”

Tears of joy welled up in my eyes as I realized what he had done. This wasn't just a trip; it was a chance to rebuild, to find ourselves again. Even if it was only for two days. I turned to him, my voice trembling with emotion. “I love you, Killian.”

His eyes widened a fraction. And i was immediately scared that I pushed it. I was about to make a joke to lighten up the awkwardness when he immediately pulled me closer and kissed the ever loving hell out of me. We were both breathless and gasping for air when he whispered the words I would cherish for life. “I love you too, Marcella. And I promise you this. I will not take your confession lightly. You are my world baby. Only mine. After this trip our lives are going to be fucked up but I will always keep you by my side. You are my strength, my love.” I kissed him again. The need to take him right there was too much but I had to wait.

As we disembarked and felt the warm sand beneath our feet, I knew he was right. The future was uncertain, but as long as we faced it side by side, there was nothing we couldn't overcome.

And in that moment, I realized that maybe there was still hope. As long as I had Killian by my side, we could move forward. Stronger, together. And with that realization, a small spark of hope ignited within me, guiding me towards a brighter future.
