Chapter 166

Chapter 166
Nico

“We want no more trouble,” I say my voice as hard as nails to the man that sits opposite me. He is bald and fat, with a big cigar hanging from his mouth. The smell disgusts me, I will need to burn my suit after this meeting.

Wetzl sits forward, more smoke assaults my nostrils making me want to gag. I will remain impassive and stony faced. Ice fills my veins as I stare at the man who caused all the trouble and killed innocent lives to get to me.

“We had no idea your wife and child were heading to the mall, Nico. That much you must know. It is not from what my reports say, she does in the morning. Usually, she works all day.”

Like that is supposed to pacify me. I am angry to boiling point. Tony stands beside me as I sit opposite the fat pig of a man. His chins wobble as he talks, I could slice each one of his chins off giving me great satisfaction. Instead, I remain seated with my hands clasped together on my knees. He will not break me even though I want to launch a knife into his gut.

“Why target us?”

“You are encroaching on my turf here in Philadelphia, Nico. What can I say? You are threatening my business and my livelihood. I have a good operation here, we don’t need Santangelo’s coming in and taking more. We do not want war. Keep to your own turf. Stay in New York City. You are already King there; Nico why want more and be greedy?”

He has a point but fucked if I am going to agree with him.

“We don’t like the name you give the Mafia, Wetzl. You trade women, drugs, you use young girls and sell them to the highest bidder to be raped and thrown out into the streets. I want to clean Philli up not see it hit the ground and rock bottom. We could work together?”

He laughs. His chins and his chest move – it revolts me.

“No, we do not do business with Santangelo. You get off my patch and I leave you alone. Simple as that, Nico. Take it or leave it.”

Tony gives my shoulder a squeeze and nods for me to leave the meeting. My motto is an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth. Wetzl leans back in his chair that threatens to collapse under his weight.

“This isn’t over,” I snarl at him as I get up and straighten my jacket.

Outside in the fresh air, clouds sprawled lazily across the sky with some blue hinting through, I take deep inhalations of air.

“Nico, leave it alone. You have a family. You don’t need Philadelphia. Leave him to run it how he sees fit. His time will come. The younger ones do not respect it. You know he has discontent in his camp.” Tony tries to persuade me, only I am like a bull in the ring with the cowboy. I see only red.

“He tried to kill my family, Tony. I want him shot between the eyes and his balls cut off. Send a message.” I walk away from my brother to the sleek black Mercedes waiting to take me back to Arizona where Lucky has refused to move from.

Dammit the woman will be the death of me. I want and need her back in Atlanta, safe and protected. She is more stubborn than a mule.

When we arrive back to Arizona some hours later, Dario is waiting for me in Lucky’s office. She is at the mansion we have bought with Valentina and Alex. It is late, the office is dimly lit.

“What’s with the urgent meeting call?” I ask, tired, angry and wanting to punch something.

Dario speaks. “I did some digging of my own,” he says to which I raise an eyebrow.

“And,” I say as I take a seat behind Lucky’s desk and loosen off my tie and undo the top two buttons of my shirt.

“It would appear that Wetzl is the guy that originally took in Yelena before she was handed over to the Russian family.”

The room goes silent, deathly silent that kind before a bomb goes off.

“Are you sure?” I ask processing the information.

“Sure, I have proof from her mother who I managed to track down. She’s in a brothel running it now. Nothing good came of her. She’s too old for anything else now. She was happy to sell her story for a lousy five-hundred dollars.”

I drum my fingers on the desk as Tony sits on the sofa in the office.

“He has done this not for you encroaching on his turf but for holding Yelena for five long years, brother,” Tony tells me.

I continue to drum my fingers as I think.

“This is what we’re going to do,” I say as I lean forward and reach for the whiskey decanter and glass, then pour myself a large shot.

“A bullet to Yelena, blood or not. She has tried to kill my family and I no longer care if our blood runs through her veins. I want it done tonight.”

Dario and Tony nod at me. Tony already has his mobile out of his pocket to message Aurora to take care of business.

“And Wetzl. I want a bullet through his head. Tonight.”

This ends now.

Nobody fucks with my family. I’ve said it multiple times and I’ll say it again.

Touch them and fucking die!
